Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: As expected my weight is up this week. But it is still within range and I know that it is mostly just water weight plus extra food in my system. My birthday was Thursday and then we had a big family Easter celebration so there was lots of extra food this weekend. I tried to make smart choices, but I also just enjoyed the food. I certainly don't eat like that all the time anymore and I know that one weekend is not going to cause me to suddenly gain back 80 pounds.6 -

Success/Struggles: I'm still sidelined from my injury and can't cycle or run still. I'm realizing at this point my relationship with food is not as healthy as I assumed since reaching maintenance - higher activity seems to keep my appetite in check, and I've been well over my weekly calories for the past couple of weeks while not being active. Today I've committed myself to being mindful of why I'm over-eating as well as recalling strategies for avoiding it, since I lost most of my weight while mostly sedentary.
Wishing everyone a successful upcoming week!

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Easter weekend, Sunday lunch with my daughter and grandchildren. We had a proper roast lamb lunch, with roast veg. The children (7 yrs and 5 yrs) had baked a chocolate cake for dessert. They had used a lot of butter icing, mini choc eggs, mini marshmallows etc etc.! However, we were outside in the garden for several hours, playing with the children, so that offset the food a bit. And my daughter is very conscious of ensuring they have a healthy diet so we had strawberries and watermelon for treats instead of chocolate eggs. I took my mum (she’s 90) so we didn’t stay late and I could have sensible food for supper after I got home. It’s a 3 hour round trip, tiring. I know one meal won’t derail my efforts.
However, we are away for a few days this week, that will be more of a challenge.
Good luck to all!

Successes and Challenges:
Holding steady with my weight. Lots of stress that can be overwhelming. But had 230 active minutes last week. Yesterday was both an Easter family get together and my daughter’s birthday so tons of sugar available. Had just a few pieces of Easter candy and one small piece of birthday cake. Ate a par tonight for dessert instead of digging into sweets.
Trying very hard to remember that if I stick with my healthy routines I will cope better with the stress.5 -

I'm still sort of amazed at how much I can eat on maintenance (because in the past when I maintained I never logged). Over a week of eating around 2,200 calories, which is my TDEE, and maintaining. Yesterday I didn't log and I felt a bit guilty as I was eating 'junk.' Added it up in the evening and it was still around 2,200.8 -
That's really a good habit, i will keep on it.1

You guys....I know it's not weekly weigh in time, but I just weighed myself and I'm down to 151! That's six pounds less than Monday. Definitely motivating me to keep going.5

Success: Big Whoosh Lost today -4.6!!! A pre WI bathroom visit was a BIG LOSS!

It was spread out over the week and I’m still surprised!

Successes/Challenges of the week:
Deciding to “call” maintenance. I had hoped to get lower, but each time I did I lost energy & was very hungry. I’m at peace with 153 after my PT videotaped me doing new wt exercises & my immediate reaction when I saw them was: “I’m thin!”
Challenge: I have a healthy respect for the difficulties of maintenance. My body definitely decreased it’s burn rate & I realize I will need to keep tracking, assessing, and modifying food/exercise over the coming years.
I’m grateful to be thin/normal after 48 years of being overweight (which I learned was actually obese for almost all of those years.)8 -

Time it took to lose: approximately 18 months
How long in maintenance: I reached my goal weight about a year ago, but kind of bounced around for a while.. it's taken til now since the beginning of the year to be getting consistent weigh-in's in the range I want to be in. So, I'd say only within the last couple weeks I've officially been in maintenance
Maintenance weight range: 124lb-127lb

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Was pleasantly surprised with that low weigh-in, below my maintenance range even! I felt like I really struggled to stay within my cal goals this week, I guess I did better than I thought as a whole. Looking forward to a day-date and dinner with my husband Sunday to celebrate our wedding anniversary, I will for sure be splurging!4 -

Total weight lost: about 50lbs
Time it took to lose: on and off 3 years. First 30 in 4 months and then gradually reduced goal weight
How long in maintenance: 23 months
Maintenance weight range: 115-120

Average weight recorded from 2018: 114.6
Average weight recorded from January: 117.4

Week of 7 April: 117.75
Week of 14 April: 117.25
Week of 21 April: 116.25
Week of 28 April: 116.5
Successes/struggles: A bit up and down food-wise this week with Easter etc but seem to have mitigated the worst of it with banking exercise calories. Want to try and aim for a bit more consistency again. Good to be back in the work routine but the early morning workouts and runs do feel very early! At least it’s lighter in the mornings now. A question for any runners - how do you know how to dress for early runs this time of year? I do around 10k so am out for less than an hour. When I set off at around 5:40am it is cold, but then I get hot pretty quickly. Is it better to under or over dress??
Have a good week everyone4 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: I never thought I'd say this again, but I'm struggling to get enough calories in my week. I have to do a better job pre-planning a week in advance and accounting for exercise. That's the kicker, I think. Now that spring is here (mostly, anyway), I'm getting out and about, walking/jogging and riding my bike. It's easy to pre-plan plan a week's nutrition when you know pretty exactly what your calorie expenditure is going to be each day, because half an hour on the treadmill at the same settings yields the same results each time. But if I'm on my bike and I've gone eight miles, I'm feeling good and it's beautiful, and I've got an extra bit of time, I might add a couple of miles just because. And now my calories-in for the day are off, just a bit. Do that a few times a week and "just a bit" becomes problematic on Friday afternoon when I've already banked calories for the weekend and I've suddenly got another 400-500 calories to eat that I hadn't planned and I've got only three or four meals left to use it on. Sure, I can treat myself to something unhealthy, but I'd prefer not to do that too often. So better planning, and a more serious look (maybe a spreadsheet) at my average weekly calorie burn, is in order and needs to move to my priority list.
For the past month or two, my diet has been more and more plant-based. That's excellent for my health, and I feel ten years younger than I did in December. But trying to add a bunch of calories, with a good macro- and micronutrient mix that fills out the corners of my week, can be mind-numbingly difficult on a Friday night when I'm tired from the week, my kid is home and needs attention, and all I want to do is veg out. Especially on a 70% carb/15% protein/15% fat macro ratio, which is what seems to make me feel best. Low fat foods just don't have a lot of calories, especially if they're not high-sugar fruits.
My original weight goal was 130 lbs, and I'm down to 122. I'm not in danger of losing too much by a long shot yet, given my age and height, but it's annoying that I've been trying to maintain and my weight just keeps trickling down. Maybe it's annoying because I still get excited when I step on the scale and see a loss but I know I shouldn't feel that way?
Well, it's supposed to be a cold, wet weekend, so I should have time to take a serious look at my weekly calorie burn today and try to come up with a better meal plan for the week tomorrow.
Have a great week, everybody!7 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Well above stated range☹ I ate within calories still logging 100% of exercise. That said I did eat more carbs then usual. I also did not lift all week until last night and pushed my reps about 50% more then usual. Thinking it is water. If I am not back in range in a week I will cut back to 50% of exercise calories like I was doing before.
Hope it’s water…

How long in maintenance: I hit my goal weight in the beginning of January 2018, but officially started maintenance in mid-March 2018 after figuring out my calories for a couple of months.
Maintenance weight range: 108-111.5

April 27: 109.9 (trend 109.9)
Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: It's been an interesting week. I'd banked extra calories for this week, as my favorite doughnut shop was at work and I planned to get one each day. For the most part though, I found myself interestingly not needing all of those extra calories, even with eating a light breakfast (yogurt) and light lunch most of this week. With the doughnuts as a mid-morning snack, I ended up being not as hungry for the rest of the day and not needing all of the extra calories that I'd banked. There was one day when I went out for lunch and ended up eating way more than I'd planned (over 900 calories), but that large lunch plus the doughnut resulted in my not being hungry for dinner later on, so I just had a small dessert instead of dinner.5 -
Name: Ben
Age: 50

Total weight lost: ~55 lbs
Time it took to lose: 9 months
How long in maintenance: Since ~ December 2018
Maintenance weight range: 166-171

Average weight recorded for January: 167.3
Average weight recorded for February: 167.2
Average weight recorded for March: 166.5

April 6th: 164.5
April 13th: 162.3
April 20th: 162.2
April 27th: 164.7
Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: A steady, routine week. It's nice when everything mostly goes according to plan. Prelogging was helpful, especially when planning for yesterday's trip to the movies. Boy, a bucket of popcorn is quite a debit on the calorie ledger.
I'm still averaging a little lower in weight than I've been aiming for, but given that my health markers are all good and I'm making progress in my new progressive overload program, I'm alright with it.
It's not really a struggle, but going to the free weights area of the university gym has been an object lesson in humility, not to mention an acute reminder of aging.
Have a great week, everyone!5
