1st - 204.25th - 201.1 - Great start for the week but heading into the weekend… will try to keep myself in check but I tend to lack willpower on the weekends, need to work on that.8th - 203.3 - Well blarg, about what I thought would happen Hate that I went up in weight since Friday.. Will definitely have to work on controlling my weekends9th - 203.2 - Hrm.. Better than nothing I guess15th - 201.7 - Kept it semi in-control over the weekend! *dance*
10th - 203.1 - Creeping along
11th - 202.1 - That's better! Actually got a decent night's sleep last night which seemed to help
12th - 201.8 - Not quite where I was at the end of last week, but still down from Monday! Now, to not screw it up this weekend!!
13th - 201.0 - Starting off the weekend good! Although, I wasn't the best last night and let stress get to me so may have had some rum, coke, and chocolate, so I wouldn't be surprised if that shows up in tomorrow's weigh in.
14th - 202.0 - Not going to complain! Now to be good and not succumb to the kids' snacks!16th - 200.8 - Nice trend so far Trying to stay on track as much as I can this week.. Saturday we will be going to the Renaissance Faire and I never end up eating as nice as I should; I just love scotch eggs and that's the only place I can find them!22nd - 199.9 - Down from last Monday, so I'm happy
17th - 199.0 - Trying to not get too excited, ate a couple things yesterday that I shouldn't have (darn coworkers bringing in cupcakes!) but think I stayed close to my calories, so we'll see if there's a bump tomorrow or Friday
18th - 199.0 - I'll take it! I've been eating way too much chocolate lately; still staying under my calories, but it still may affect my weight, we'll see
19th - 199.2 - Not surprising as I haven't been eating at a deficit lately. Hopefully tomorrow I don't end up going over too much at the Ren Faire, but we will also be walking a lot so maybe that will help
20th - 199.6 - RENAISSANCE FAIRE!! *dance* Not as bad as I thought after pizza and other junk I ate last night, so maybe the walking today will help and I will try to behave myself some today, but no guarantees!
21st - 200.6 - Definitely was bad yesterday… lots of water today and try not to let this derail me23rd - 200.0 - Made good choices yesterday, but didn't get all my water in. Suspecting this is my body still recovering from all the junk over the weekend; just have to keep making good choices and hopefully see a drop29th -
24th - 199.8 - Still waiting for that drop! Had a little extra sodium yesterday, so more water today

March 31 - 172.8
April 02 - Tuesday - 174.1
April 03 - 173.0
April 04 - 171.6 - I was 170.9 on March 30th I have been dropping my calories from 1200 to 1100 so far this month, I am not satisfied with working so diligently to lose only a pound a month. There was bonus skating yesterday which seems to remove all of my excess water (and stress) and burns lots of calories, so a 1.4 loss in a day is likely due to that.
April 05 - 170.9
April 06 - 170.0 !!
April 07 - 171.6 - Expected, very small deficit yesterday
April 08 - 171.1 - Monday. Okay with that. Tuesday mornings is 4am for me, and my weight is always up because it is too darned early. I may still weigh tomorrow morning, but won't be upset if it is high.
April 10 - 171.6 - Wednesday. I had a tough time getting in enough calories yesterday, I am on soft food for 3 weeks until I get a crown on my tooth. This is going to really change up what I eat, crunchy foods are out.
April 11 - 169.3!!!! I am not getting too excited. Skating yesterday : - ) I am working out of town today and they have skating there today too : - )
April 12 - 168.6 - All of that calorie deficit in February and March might finally be showing up, plateau gave way. 2 skates only coming up in the next 2 weeks, all of the other towns are now closed for the season (couldn't skate yesterday). Guess I am trading in my blades for squatting, bending, pushing, lunging, and pulling in the garden. I do dance aerobics and Zumba daily from Youtube, but really don't get the same effect as skating, nor can I sustain it for as much time. I hope to stay in the 160s for a few months and not get back up into the 170s which lasted for almost 4 months. 2 full months of upping my water intake, have to try to keep that up.
April 13 - 168.3
April 14 - 169.0 - I am not managing to get in enough exercise. I will fix that.
April 15 - 169.5 - Monday. I won't weigh tomorrow, hopefully Wednesday will still be in the 160s : - )
April 16.- 169.0 - Tuesday, home sick from work with a cold. Not too motivated to work out, maybe later.
April 17 - 167.8 - The first two days of antibiotics are responsible for some weight loss, likely temporary. Too sick to even go to skating today! I really hate to miss it, there is only one left after this. We'll see in 2 hours after taking some Dayquil.
April 18 - 166.7 - I had a really tough time getting my calories in yesterday, between the dental issue and this flu. I found some unsweetened apple juice at one point and drank enough of that to bring up my calories. 2 weeks until I get my crown on. Scrambled eggs and soups, but I have no appetite and am mostly staying propped up high in bed with Nyquil. Not a nice way to lose weight, I am sure in 2 weeks when I am back on solid foods that it will rebound.
April 19 - 167.4 - got my calories from food instead of juice.
April 20 - 166.8
April 21 - 167.5
April 22 - 166.0
April 23 - 166.4 - Tuesday
April 24 - 166.8 - ate so late after a very long day at work trying to catch up after being off for a week. Not 100%, but it is the last skating opportunity of the season at noon today.

@InDogWeTrust
Yes, I hear what you are saying. I basically stayed at the same weight for 3 months even while at my most active (calorie burning) months of each and every year - I typically lost 15-20 pounds in 3 months during this time every year before this past one. I burned off enough to have lost 20 pounds, but lost only 2. I kept my calories in and around 1200 and maintained a huge daily deficit.
As soon as I dropped my calories for a few days to 1100 the weight unlocked.
1300-1500 is a healthier number to get all of the nutrients in, but there are other factors like which food choices to make for health. Keto works for some, intermittent fasting works for some - long term sustainable healthy changes theoretically should work for everyone
Our bodies burn more calories digesting food than anything else - but for those of us whose jobs don't work like that getting 6 small meals in a day isn't doable or preferable.
We all watched our parents eat less as they aged - we don't need as much as our metabolisms slow to a crawl. Our sports become less extreme.
Senior's menus and half-portions exist in restaurants because people don't eat as much food (maybe don't need as much food) as we age.3 -

Celebrated our 20th anniversary with a trip to Big Cedar for four days (Wednesday-Saturday). I knew I’d be up, and yesterday read 164.2, so I’m glad to not see that number this morning!
Had more carbs than usual and had some beers (Mich Ultra). Had four the first night, which made me not feel great the next day, so kept it 2 or under the next two nights and felt a lot better. I ate well and tracked everything, around 500-800 more calories a day than usual and did have a bit of dessert two nights. We were very active with hiking 5 miles a day (it’s the Ozarks, so big steep hills), horseback riding, paddle boats, mini golf and bowling. Step count between 15 and 20k a day.
Back at it now. Sunday I cut calories and no carbs other than from veggies and and one serving of fruit. 135 oz water. Hopefully I’m headed back down rather than up. 🤞🏻
22nd - 161.4
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I have been bouncing between 161.4 and 160 since March 26th. I have cut calories to 1100-1200, increased calories to 1300-1500, increased my steps, make sure I burn 500+ calories a day, cardio and strength/resistance combos a minimum of 4 days a week, walking on rest days... but still, I cannot break 160. I know I’m losing inches and I feel better, but that feeling is starting to wear off. I want to see the numbers shift. 😔

Congratulations!!! April has been the same battle for me, stuck just over 165 and can’t seem to break through. Pants are loser, feeling good and looking good but I want that number on the scale.
I’m inspired by you to just keep going, it will happen!
Super happy for you, the battle is real.

I'm back for another round! Still trying to get into the 140's, lol. Ended March at 150.1, so close, but not a 149 something on the scale. Looking to finish this month at 146, that's a pound a week and hopefully get past this 3 week plateau I have been dealing with. Let's get started!
Starting weight: 178
Goal weight: 140
Challenge start weight: 150.1

@lalabank Thank you so much!! Sounds like you are doing great and so close to seeing that drop! I know it's super discouraging to be stuck for a month or more, but when happens, it is SO worth it! I had to change my workouts from more of a dance cardio to HIIT cardio with weights, jumping jacks, etc. Crushed it for 7 days and it paid off! Keep going!!1 -
Happy Tuesday, everyone!
I forgot to check in on Sunday - again. Easter and family stuff and all that. I'm frustrated. I'm logging all my eating. I keep within my calorie allowance most days (I don't exceed it any more than I did when I was losing weight), and if I earn 'extra' calories with activity, I don't necessarily spend them, so I'm trying to stay in a calorie deficit. I'm walking most days, fishing on weekends, gardening... I'm more active, really, than I've been since I was a kid, yet the weight just will NOT come off, and a little bit is trying to sneak back on. We even had a bowling party after work last Friday and I bowled better than my husband... who used to bowl somewhat regularly. AND I didn't feel sore the next day (he did!)
With the weird hot and cold weather we've been having I think I'm retaining a bit of water, I can feel it in my legs. Some of it may be leaving today, I've had more bathroom trips than usual, hoping that some of this yo-yo business is just water retention.
Not going to lie it's easier to be 'stuck' south of 200 than north of it, but I've flirted with 199 numbers and that has me worried. I really REALLY don't want to see 200 or more ever again. If I was stuck at 190 I'd feel better about it... but as it is I've been floating between 196-199 for the last... 6 months really. I think I first hit a 1 number back in August. Went on vacation - gained a little. Came back, lost it, had gallbladder surgery in November, gained a ton from IV fluid, dropped down to 194.4 once I shed all that IV weight but I hadn't eaten in a week so that low was a bit artificial. Then the Christmas holidays came and I gained a couple of pounds, and I've been struggling to lose since then.
I'm not backsliding in a big way - all of this is within 5 lbs from low of 194.4 to high of 199.3. That almost qualifies as maintenance but I don't want to be in maintenance.
I will say that the jeans I bought last August, which fit but were very snug, fit more loosely now. Not falling off loose, but certainly much more comfortably. So I'm getting 'slimmer' just not 'lighter'.
This is what happened in 2000 when I lost a bunch of weight. I got to 195, held there, couldn't go any lower, then my body popped back up to 202 where I stayed for about 13 years. I really don't want a repeat performance. I would really like to lose more. I've tried harder and longer this time than last, and I'm not quitting, but I am discouraged. If you've read this much - thanks I just needed to vent.

Move more, eat less.
This journey can be quite the roller-coaster, but, you just have to plow threw--we owe it to ourselves! I've been fluctuating the same 5 to 7 lbs myself, it's tough. These last 25 lbs have been kicking my butt, and honestly, I've been under so much stress since my niece moved in, I told myself I won't lose anything until she moves back with her mother at the end of next month! Stress is a powerful saboteur. Plus, it's my TOM so I'm 5 lbs heavier now than I was just a few days ago. Ugh, hormones are so annoying. I'm not going to weigh-in again until the very end of April instead of this weekend. I just don't feel like seeing a scale right now. So, yes, I feel your pain, Jenn.
But, something tells me we are going to have a pretty good summer. I believe it!
Never give up!6 -
Out of town on vacation and no scale so missing some data and then forgot to post on Monday so catching up. The good news is that my LDL-C dropped by another 30 units and is now at 171! (high of 250) so hoping exercise and losing weight will maybe get me into the not so high range. My HDL did drop a bit and triglycerides increased slightly, although both still in a good protective (64)/normal range (79). Finally saw a decrease in waist circumference as well, which seemed to have been stuck with most fat loss occurring on legs, arms, and upper back. Still have lots of belly fat to lose :-( Back to weight from May 2015 so slowly making progress erasing the gains over the last 12 years.

This is HUGE for me. Yes, I got a nearly 2 pound drop. But what doesn't show here is that even through I SLAYED the exercise and kept to my calorie limits last Friday through Sunday, I had a baffling spike to 154.4 on Monday morning. It even nudged my trend weight up I powered through it, changed nothing, did not let it mess with my head (too much), and watched it kick in for real on Wednesday - and keep going. I have no explanation for the spike. I did read that physical stress can cause the body to retain fluid. I guess that's possible, I certainly stressed every muscle and joint cleaning my perennial beds and slinging 500+ pounds of mulch.
Reasons aside, I kept forcing myself to stay calm and be patient. Not virtues I am known for. There is a science to what we are all trying to do here - and I believe in science. My game plan is based on that. I had to trust that the science would play out - and it did.
If you peek at my trend graph, you can see that I appear to be in a maintenance trend, but it is edging ever so slightly downward again. So it should start to move again if I keep doing what I'm doing. Yeah, that patience and calm thing.
While it's possible, it's not likely that I will hit that April goal. But, barring fluctuations, I may see the 140's - and that would be sweet. I haven't been there since January of 2013. bAnyway, I weigh on Fridays, but I'll be back on Tuesday for a final monthly number.
Game Plan:- Continue weekly meal planning ✔ This is critical for me. Without a plan, I will rely on fast and easy carryout or delivery
- Log daily in MFP - focus on daily calorie deficit ✔ I have upped the exercise and am focused on maintaining a deficit. I use the calorie allowance only as a baseline.
- Increase Fitbit steps from 2500 (March avg) to 5000 by end of April ✔ I've been the steps, I'm at 4,000 and hit it this week - with a 7 day average of 4955. I'm fighting for every step - but am determined. I will up it again on Sunday
- Hit active minutes goal of 20 minutes daily ✔ 7 day average of 32 minutes!
- Increase strength building exercise from 5 days to 7 Still at 6. It's a process.
- Watch weight trend and don't freak out over daily fluctuations ✔ Patience and calm

@Lisaw5 - What an awesome attitude and approach. Your trend graph for April looks like losing to me, not maintaining. It had one tiny bounce up when you had that one big day, but it returned pretty quick. Maybe you won't get to a number at the end of April, but you're doing great!
I had a big shock this morning; my scale was below 140. I'm dropping below the bottom of my maintenance range, so I have to be careful with THAT. Maybe I should just consider it a calorie bank since I have a river trip coming up, and I won't be weighing anything, and I'll eat whatever meals are offered. Mine is pasta with pesto and salty meaty appetizers.2 -
Thanks @mtaratoot ! Yeah it does seem to be downward. It looks better on the computer than it does on my phone.
Who'd have thought that maintenance would be hard, and we'd ever be concerned at continued loss?! I've hit and maintained goal (long term) a couple of times. It's a process. When I was in my 30's, I dropped 10 lbs below goal. I went from looking and feeling good, to looking sickly and losing all of the gained energy. Watch your trend, adjust intake and exercise accordingly. You'll figure out a happy medium. Trust the science. Enjoy your river trip!!!1 -

April 25 - 166.2 - Skated yesterday : - )
April 26 - 164.9 - I was too busy yesterday to get enough water in, I think it is a temporary loss. I went from 1 glass of water a day to 8+ over the last few months. Because of that, I am sort of thinking that my 2 month stall in weight loss was due to the increased water content. Maybe loss of muscle from not skating as much has showed as weight loss. Skating is finished now until October : - (

📌April 1 - 177 - Ate something I shouldn't have and now have inflammation in joints😩4/2 - 174.64/21 - 177
4/3 - 175.4⬅ abs workout yesterday, glutes today, so who knows what tmrw will bring
4/4 - 174 - I worked out with my Niece yesterday. She doesn't look forward to glute workouts, but I do! Lol. We got through it. Need to stretch and walk out the soreness today.
4/5- 176.8 - Probably 175.8 I drank 16ozs of water just before weighing. Still holding fluid from butt and leg workout. Muscles are still on a low hum😃 My knee told me, unh-unh yesterday, so no walk. It was feeling unstable. Stretching and balance exercises accomplished.
4/6 - 175.8
4/7 - 177.4 - Not surprised. I was not hungry for my first meal until the 19 hour mark (2pm) I don't fast on Saturdays. I did an arm and shoulder workout at 10:30pm and felt hungry afterwards. So I ate again at 12am!
📌4/8 - 178 - Everything I ate contributed to my carb count. I broke my fast at 2:30pm and "dinner" was 2 brownies, which took me from 29g to 85g. Why did I eat them? Just not in the mood for more savory flavors. I certainly wasn't hungry.
4/9 - 178.2
4/10 - 176.8 - up and down. Down please.
4/11 - 176.2 - Yesterday was my last day for eating peanut butter. I'm going to see if that is the last thing to eliminate to break away from my "stabilized" weight.
4/12 - 178.2 - This is from eating at midnight. Not overeating or late night snacking. I just wasn't hungry enough to eat the rest of my food until then. This is the 3rd time in a two a week period, that I have not been hungry until very late in the day. I don't know what that's about, but I don't like it.

It is not a 2 lb loss like I had hoped but I also know that eating 2 scoops of butter pecan ice cream after dinner doesn't help with loss.
I'm happy that it is a loss - not a gain or same weight. Booyah!

Total loss for April: Weighing in early since I will be away from a scale for a couple days. Scale says I lost a couple pounds and am a little below my goal weight and my maintenance range. My ten day average is down almost a pound and a half, is just under my goal weight and just in my current maintenance range. My average weight has been fairly stable even with three pound swings up and down on the scale. My current challenge is vigilance so I don't gain back what I lost but don't lose much more.
I am still participating in this monthly weight loss challenge even though I'm in my goal range. I'm also participating in a maintenance challenge.
See you in May!

Happy Sunday, everyone!
Well I lost a bit this week but still up on the month, just over half a pound. Not awful, but I am still just stuck. This is one long plateau.
Had a good week and a great weekend. My son, the younger of my 2 kids, turned 25 yesterday and he came over to spend the evening with my husband and me yesterday. He had spent the morning at his Dad's. Earlier in the day I got a bit of yard work done. I am more able to do that sort of thing than I was, that is a plus when the scale isn't cooperative.
This morning we got out on the water for the first time this year in our little Bass Buggy and we both caught a few fish. Came home to watch our favourite NASCAR driver win at Talledega, and I wound down the day birdwatching in my backyard. Life doesn't get much better than that! I love summertime weather and it starts early here in Georgia!
