How long in maintenance: Officially about 2 months, but for the last year or so I bounced around the same range, just a little higher than I would prefer. I got down to this range and am happy here.

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: I never thought I’d have a struggle of not eating enough. I think it’s so engrained in my brain to eat 1200 calories to lose (did it for almost 2 years) that I’m really struggling to eat the 1500 for maintenance, so I’m sloooowly losing still. Not a bad thing, I’m short, so I’m still well within a healthy range. I need to start really focusing on getting an extra 200ish calories in a day.. which I know can be done easily, but my head keeps thinking “stay at that 1200… don’t go above it.”
Lots of fun plans this weekend, so I’m looking forward to those and enjoying myself and indulging a little 😊
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!5 -

lesdarts180 wrote: »@sharondesfor935 Hi, I'm midway through the holiday and having a good time. The drive up to Scotland took 2 days with a night in Carlisle, but we are staying in one hotel in Inverness for 5 nights then travelling south again over the weekend. I'm not keen on whisky but have had haggis for breakfast. We have been doing plenty of walking and the hotel has a tiny swimming pool so I have been quite active. No brown water yet!
The hotel dinners have been Ok but very limited veggies. I usually fill up with large portions of low calorie veg so this could be a problem. Fingers crossed for next Monday weigh in.
So excellent, Lesley! If I recall correctly, the yummy brown water was much farther east than Inverness (Dornoch, perhaps?). Still, you've chosen possibly the loveliest city in Scotland for your holiday.
Sadly, you missed the monthly Inverness farmer's markets for fresh produce. I don't know if you want to bother at this late date, but here's a link to restaurants and shops with local produce: http://www.foe-invernessandross.org.uk/local-food-directory.
I'm so glad you've had your haggis! It makes me sad to think how many people refuse to even try it. 😓 (Also, I'm pretty sure you should not mention aloud that you're not keen on whisky. I suspect there are national laws in Scotland on this topic.)
Enjoy the last bit of your stay, and good luck on Monday with your weigh-in. 🤞🤞1 -

My struggle right now is mindless eating and nibbling of things throughout the day. I have 3 meals+snack everyday and I'm not hungry but whenever I'm making something, or putting up leftovers or just in the kitchen I'll pop things into my mouth without even thinking I'm adding 5-10-30 calories extra into my day without even accounting for it in my log. Tasting is fine, But I need to stop snacking on food as I'm cooking4 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: It feels like the last few weeks have been virtually the same from an exercise/nutrition standpoint - which seems boring, but hey, maintenance success! Strong Lifts is getting more challenging, which I've enjoyed...mostly. I'm down visiting my parents over the weekend, doing chores and errands and generally staying active. The habit of planning and packing meals was a useful one for the long drive down. Having lunch to eat at a pretty picnic spot and enough healthy, filling snacks fended off the temptation of going through a drive-through during the long drive.
Have a great week, everyone!6 -

I’m wondering if you could pre-plan those “cooking” nibbles? Set aside 30 calories/day?

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Happy to finally be back in maintenance range. This past week was a travel week so exercise was limited to walking, though I did log about 9 mile a day. I only ate back half the calories.
I did well managing calories though almost all meals were ate out so it was probably not as accurate as I would like.

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: I'm holding steady in the middle of my range. I enjoyed four nice meals out this week, and managed to end the week in a slight deficit, despite budgeting for a surplus this week. I think that part of this might be because I tend to over-allocate calories for meals out, and then I end up with a few hundred extra calories afterwards that I didn't end up eating. I'd rather have that happen than the opposite though, as it's nice to have a buffer of extra calories than to accidentally go over allotted calories.7 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: For lack of a better idea, I adjusted my maintenance weight range down by 5 lbs. As I said last week, I don't want to let myself gain 10 lbs, and I don't really want to lose any more, so this puts me in the center of the range.
Challenge of the week was a HUNGRY day Wednesday. I ate to fulfillment, which was fine and dandy. More calories than I'd originally expected to eat that day, but I'm flexible within the week. The issue was that I didn't stick with my macros. I've been doing so well on the high carb low fat diet. But when I blow it, I really blow it. 38% fat for the day, when my goal is 15%. Then it's really hard to jump straight back down to 15%, so Thursday was 27%, Friday was 19%, and finally back to 15% on Saturday. That left my weekly average fat percentage at 20%, the highest it's been since I started losing weight in December.
I am grateful, though, that last week I picked up the trick of watching my 7 day rolling average net calories. I had a much less active week, between weather, feeling poorly one day, and unavoidable meetings, so watching the rolling average kept me on track better.
On the bright side, I only lost half a pound last week, so now I can go back and analyze my daily net calories to see what I did right! Yay, more spreadsheets! 🤓4 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: I’m still working out less frequently than I’d like. I’m pushing it with my calories nearly everyday by going a bit over, and my indulgence day yesterday was too indulgent - I ate 6,310 calories and burned 442 with exercise. I don’t need to be told that that’s far too much in one day. I am now afraid I’m going to gain my weight back. Today I’m doing a Phase 1 day on Ideal Protein (is about 1000 calories), which will help. I don’t intend to restrict the other days, as it’s not sustainable and I haven’t hit my reset weight. I do intend to have my indulgence day on Sunday (a week from today). I will have three meals and one dessert, which is decidedly less than what I ate yesterday. I have to figure this maintenance thing out!!!
On bright side, I had labs done 8 days ago and they were great! My total cholesterol was a bit high at 200, but my HDL was very high and my LDL was very low. Improvements abound!6 -

Success of the week: My weighted rolling average weight has stayed within a half pound of my goal since early March.
Struggle of the week: I had an interesting few days of less common activities and foods I had to estimate. For the last seven days, my net calories as calculated by MFP (also using movement data from Garmin except the things I tell MFP directly like my bike commute have been well below my allowance. I steadily lost mass the first several days. The last two days, my mass started back up. I am not concerned; I am maintaining right where my goal is. I just think it's interesting.
I think part is my estimates. For example; on Friday I stopped at the co-op and got some food off the hot bar. It was exactly 0.5 pounds, and some was tuna noodle casserole, some was Szechuan tofu, and I added a couple tiny pieces of red curry chicken. But I logged as 1.5 cups of hot bar from Whole Foods. Last night I had one taco from the taco shop in my neighborhood. I know they make big tacos, so I log it as two tacos. The other part is that I don't always trust the calorie expenditure data. Yesterday was a good example. I took a canoe out on the river to enjoy the weather and to fish. I wasn't paddling hard, and sometimes I was just fishing. But I did have to keep moving the boat because both current and wind move me around. The last part was strenuous; I paddled up around the back side of an island. I didn't quite make it and had to drag around some hazards. I don't think it was an 800 calorie endeavor. Oh well. I will keep doing what I'm doing, because it has been working fairly well.

Challenges/Successes
Scale is creeping up at 0.1lb per day in May 350 calories daily, but I’ve recorded a deficit of 280 which means I’m off by 620 (hard to believe.)
The intensity of my hikes & wt lifting routines is higher, too, and that’s new. Clothes *just* got a little tighter today, so pulling back in a little more. Hard to know if it’s muscle or fat or water.
Sodium is up, fiber down, so will work on that too.
Historically, I have had difficulty with my weight when it’s hot. I’m going to try to figure that out this summer.
Successes: too many to mention! Healthier, more fit, definitely stronger. Measurements have been steady.
Have an awesome week❣️

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: I’ve been away for 8 days – 7 hotel dinners, breakfasts etc. It was a coach trip so there was a lot of sitting – in coaches and trains. The hotel in Inverness had a tiny swimming pool which I used several evenings and there were several days when I managed over 10,000 steps but overall I did less exercise and ate more rich food than usual. We got home yesterday evening so the weigh-in this morning is pretty horrible. However, I’m sure I haven’t really put on that 2.7 kg (6 lbs) in one week, it will be mostly bloating from sitting on a coach for two days. I expect it to drop fairly quickly. Need to get to the gym today, and generally get moving!7 -

I was actually down below my range the last couple of days, so it is good to be back up in range. I am glad that I weight daily and use a trending app. If I didn't then I would probably be upset that my weight was so high this morning. Haha, I deal with this struggle all the time too! Having lower calorie days balanced with higher calorie weekends/nights out definitely takes some getting used to. It's hard to not feel deprived when I have a 1500 calorie day that followed a 2600 calorie day!2 -
@missperfectpitch It's great that I can recognize trouble before it happens. I realized right away that I really needed to watch these date nights. Thankfully this guy is also watching what he eats so he is kind of doing the same thing which helps.1

Yes, that's definitely helpful that you have someone who's also watching what he eats! I tend to go all out on date nights, but I compensate by eating lightly throughout the day (very light breakfast, and light-ish lunch) to keep the daily calorie total from being too crazy, and pre-log/bank more calories than I'll need for those days so I can relax and have, say, two desserts after dinner if I want.2 -

Work it, Lesley! The ultimate end to a wonderful holiday is three days of uninhibited exercise! Tell that haggis, "You were fabulous! Now let's get gone!" Walk 'til you can't walk any more. Now sit down... oops, the postman has arrived, let's go down to the mailbox. Hmm, time to stand up and cook dinner. Lovely, what about a post-dinner walk?1 -

Success/struggles of the week
Success: loss weight even with going off a little bit with some fast food junk (it was horrible) and had some pizza too.
Struggle; Getting my mind set to more optimistic and look on positive outlook. Some issues I have with dental problems have no control over me. Losing 200 pounds since 2013 doesn’t solve many health problems when you’re 71 yo.8 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Have been dealing with some blood pressure concerns so my doctor suggested I try the cardiometabolic (mediterranean) diet. Since I started working towards that, that I've been struggling to reach my calorie goals without relying on sugar, since the diet suggests reducing/eliminating added sugar, reducing dairy, adding protein and fruit/veg. (I was already pescatarian/mostly vegetarian.) I have an appointment tomorrow and plan to discuss this.8 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Nothing really to report this week. My husband is out of town for work for 10 weeks ☹ So me and our daughter have been on our own for meals, keeping it simple and easy for dinners.. helping to keep my calories in check.5 -

Success/Struggles: This month has been my smoothest yet. It is good to know that when everything else in my life is weird and crazy, my weight can stay the same.
I did have a huge spike, apparently, (based on experience) IHOP (even within my calorie goal) bloats me up for DAYS after. Weird.6 -

I know it's water weight as I watched portion size and brought half home. Have to watch this weekend and upcoming week. Hubby and I will be celebrating 25th anniversary. Have a great week everyone.6 -

Successes/struggles: Managed to up my longest ever run from 11k to 15k and put in a good time for it. Mulling over working towards a half marathon. Doing well in circuit classes too and managing to lift a bit heavier. But sleep is still poor and led to me missing a couple of planned runs and having lots of carb cravings. Really need to work on this.
Wish you all a good week ahead x7
