Does apple cider vinegar help weight loss?

I'm curious to what are people's experiences with this? As I see the mentioned in a lot of weight loss YouTube videos & I'm skeptical. Drinking any type of vinegar doesn't seem healthy.

No. Its tasty on salad and can be used to clean things apparently and that's about it.
No food helps with weight loss. Eating less calories than you burn causes weight loss.11 -

I have ACV in the house for my home made dressings.
I eat a varied diet for health and to lose weight I must eat less.7 -
Did a big video or article just come out about it again? This is at least the third post on it today. (not criticizing you for asking, but it doesn't get asked very often here so three times in a day seems weird).
There's nothing inherently unhealthy a out drinking Apple Cider Vinegar, and you can use it for dressings and seasoning if you choose. But it's not going to go anything to help you lose weight. Only a calorie deficit will do that.8 -
If ACV helped with weight loss, nobody would need to lose weight.7

Like I said on the other 2 threads about the very same question:
While losing weight and logging carefully, I drank ACV for weeks at a time **, and didn't drink it for other weeks at a time. It made zip zero nada no difference in my weight loss rate, and I felt no difference in appetite or satiation.
So, it does nothing at all for weight loss, if you ask me.
** I was drinking it for reasons unrelated to weight loss.7 -

The only thing drinking apple cider vinegar helped me lose was my will to live.16

I tried it and it does not taste good. I was not losing weight on it. I added four cups of veggies and two fruits a day and feeling so much better. I think the food pyramid helps to lose weight and adding exercise, even if it is just walking the dog, moving helps. Also staying within calories a day, 1200-1500, depending on exercise. If you workout you can consume more calories than that.6

Another fad going around again. I tried it once and agree - it is awful and not worth it. No short cuts for me. Also not really proven in spite of the hype.-1

There is a little research that might suggest vinegars, or Apple cider vinegar, might have some impact on a variety of things that can impact weight loss (this has a bit of a summation on studies done - https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/apple-cider-vinegar-weight-loss#section3 ).
But I don't know how useful the studies are; I haven't looked into it much, honestly. But from what I've seen, some of them had exceptionally small participant sizes (like, 11 people in the study kind of small), some are only animal based as yet. Some had some interesting information that looks like it would be fun to explore further, but I don't think I've seen anything definitive anywhere.
And also, the bits and pieces of diet recommendation for ACV I've seen seem to have far more claims than any sort of research has suggested, or proven. Kind of in that category of 'I took a small study and created an empire of assumptions about the data!'

It is good to be skeptical. I think a good rule of thumb is that if anything was proven to be a quick fix for weight loss it would be a HUGE news story. You will see people come through here claiming that on keto or something they can eat a seemingly huge number of calories and lose or maintain weight but it hasn't made CNN because it is a misinterpretation of data or trolling.4

That is basically my personal experience. I was given a sample bottle of apple juice with ACV...It was awful. My son was nearly sick after drinking half a glass. The rest of us had a small taste and didn't like it, and it ended up down the drain. No one really felt like eating anything for a while.
That said, I quite like a small bit of vinegar as a salad dressing sometimes.

I suppose it would for me as I find vinegar to be emetic, but I don't think it would hold for others, nor would I use it for myself.2

Yes it does. There are studies that show it slows the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream and doesn't spike your insulin. So it helps in that way. you don't have to drink ACV or mix it in water.. just eating a salad dressing with vinegar aids in this.21

How does slowing impact it?
If I filled my gas tank slower, does my car end up holding less gas?
If one takes a look at Insulin Indexes, baked beans are high (120), as is yogurt (115), while white wine is low (3), as are peanuts (20). It is pretty easy to eat a lot of peanuts, but not so much baked beans.7 -
I use high quality vinegars but in a totally different way. A good quality flavored vinegar (I use a local brand called Oli+Ve but there lots of gourmet brands out there ) can have as little as 10 calories per tablespoon. It runs $10 bucks a bottle, but little goes a looooong way and I seldom use a tablespoon. I use simple flavored vinegars for salad dressings. Breakfast this morning is cottage cheese, blueberries, strawberries, a few grams of grape nuts and 12 grams of strawberry vinegar. Their chocolate vinegar is great on yogurt, and makes a killer base for pork carnitas. Fig balsamic makes a great marinade for pork tenderloin. Honey- ginger balsamic makes a nice light stir fry seasoning. I have a whole arsenal of flavored vinegars, and consider them my secret weapon of weight loss, lol.
I tried drinking the Bragg’s ACV years ago for acid reflux. It neither helped nor hindered. Changing what I ate? Years of tormenting, painful reflux was gone within a couple of weeks. Thank heavens!!!!!!3 -
I have an ounce a day. I have it in the morning. It wakes me up (flavor is so astringent that I don’t need coffee) and flavor makes it that I don’t crave food for a few hours. I’m also sure that could be accomplished with other foods too.
I know the reason I’m losing weight is that I’m eating less than I’m burning, but for me apple cider vinegar has been a good ingredient in a diet of mostly good ingredients helping me in weight loss.3 -

ACV made me eat more. I tasted it out of curiosity and it was so gross I had to eat garlic mashed potatoes to cover it up. Those were some good potatoes.
Might go good on french fries, though. I love regular vinegar on french fries. Anyone ever have Gibby's fries? They're always at our local festivals, which are coming up soon. I always get french fries with my parents and we watch the airshow, which is generally either the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds. I can't remember which this year. I hope it's not too hot.3
