I'm fairly relaxed at the gym, manage to ignore most things and crack on with my own stuff.
Get proper pool rage though. People need to go at their own pace, that's fine, I will be patient and considerate and wait until we get to the end of the lane. But get out of my flipping way!
Do not have a chat and wait until I get there before going directly in front of me, do not keep plodding on when I'm at your heels.
And don't tut at me when my patience wears out and I squeeze past.
Drives me bananas....2 -

Speaking of pool rage...
I'm taking swim classes and it took me a good month to finally be comfortable in water, so now I don't need the kick board all the time and I'm learning the freestyle stroke. My friend who is still fearful is there too, but refuses to come off the wall and is always wanting to talk about how I made progress... while I'm in mid swim. She literally yells out how did I do that and expects me to stop and answer. I told her we can talk after class, but she won't wait for that. Her teenage son is also in the class and has a habit of getting in people's path. Last week he kicked someone in the face.0 -
I had finished all of my other sets and wad waiting (somewhat impatiently) for the squat rack while a guy in his 40s showed 2 teenage boys how to do curls there, with VERY long pauses between each set. I just sat on a bench and stared holes through them. When they were done, the guy had the nerve to make a grand ushering motion at me towards the rack as thoUGH I WERE THE ONE BEING RUDE.1

I was running on a 3-lane track with a dedicated runners lane. In front of me were 4 senior citizens walking abreast. I attempted to weave through them when one of the ladies decided to dart off the track, right in front of me. I grabbed her by the shoulders to stop myself from accidebrally plowing right over her, but it a very close thing.2

The four high school boys at my gym last night who were literally huddled together the whole time, chatting, looking at their phones, staring at me and occasionally doing dumbbell rows really really fast. I truly mean no offense to all men, but most men at the gym are the reason I feel like I should cover up, or at least hide under a baseball cap and big headphones.5

Listen, elderly dude at the gym.
If you want to work in on the assisted pull-up machine, ask me and I will gladly let you. If you stand two machines away from me glaring at me like you were trying to light me on fire with your brain, I'm going to be here doing pull-ups until I look like Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2. Unless someone else asks me if they can work in, in which case I will let them work in and you're going to be standing there waiting for both of us until you run out of your blood pressure medication.14 -
Stupid company stopped making the slow-churned ice cream I like in the single-serve cups. I still can't moderate ice cream in the big cartons (why, brain, WHY?). I'm not sure whether I'm ranting about the company, or myself. Sigh.11

Hiking trails that are too rural to have, say, cafe stops with bathrooms, but too close to civilisation to be able to risk going behind a tree.
And that is why I traditionally spend the first nine miles of any hike dehydrated...8 -
Perfect thread--this morning at the gym an older guy came in, climbed on the treadmill near me, and proceeded to talk business on his cell phone (loudly) for 20 mins. Another guy that really bugs me puts a mat down in front of the mirror and proceeds to do 2 mins mat exercises, 5 min on a machine, 2 min mat exercises, 5 min on a machine,.... for half an hour. When I see him coming I have to run to get my hand weights and start my workout or there's no room (He takes up all the space with his equipment).1

I love my family but the "one won't hurt" mentality is annoying.10

I'm sick of having to justify my meal choices if i have something someone else deems a "bad food". Having had a messed up approach to nutrition for years with very disordered eating, i am trying really hard to get away from good and bad foods, and i will allow myself things that aren't poster perfect for health and fitness now and then, everything in moderation.
I should not have to justify to someone (who eats what they want guilt free, and has never exercised in their life) why one McDonalds they happened to see me eating isn't going to make me burst into flames and invalidate my Personal Training qualification...20 -

I recovered from 7+ years of anorexia three years ago and can't eat / go the gym without people saying how proud they are and how i need to be careful i dont relapse. I love my support network but i feel like i'll never be able to just do what i want without concerns for health/well being constantly!! being brought up
/i am vv lucky to have a support network and people who care but being constantly thought of as a worry or having every move monitored after being recovered for so long. its draining, demoralizing and puts so much emphasis on what i used to be instead of who i am now18 -

The absolute key to all of this. People will always have an opinion, a little dig at you, or question choices, but it's nothing to do with them and will likely never understand your reasons and desires. A lot can be out of jealousy also, if they see you are going about things well and are happy, while they gorge on shite and are unfit and out of shape.
It's easier said than done, but just don't care what others think or say and be content in your choices and how you're living your life3 -
Really appreciate the positive feedback and Liaoverbrook sharing your experience! Hopefully we can all find a headspace that works for us and doesnt allow the negativity to get too much. All were trying to do is live our best life!3

I'm really sick of my friend who is half a foot shorter than me continually asking me how much I weigh to make sure she weighs less. I feel like I'm being entered into a competition to lose weight or be skinnier when I don't want to weigh myself at all (I've had issues with this in the past).
I've tracked with MFP for years (as it helps me remain aware) and she's always scoffed as she deemed it strange behaviour (while following weight watchers and continually saying "See, I'm still allowed to eat x, y and z"- dude, you're an adult. You're always allowed to eat whatever you want!) and now she's decided to join MFP and low and behold she's at it again. What do I weigh, how much weight am I losing (BTW I'm 180cm and a UK size 12). It's all she talks about. And I don't know how to deal with it without shouting her down.
It makes me feel pressured to be weighing and getting back to the mindset that the scale defines me.
It doesn't.
But the truth is... the more she draws attention to weight, the more I begin to think I should worry about it.5 -

I love this, likewise been skinny fat my whole life and tried to fit into a mould, now I found BJJ and it has given me a passion for fitness and looking after myself together with yoga... Now the mindset is one of loving myself first and the transformation comes from there.
Thanks for the honest answers here and everyone sharing....
It's also is hard for someone who can't gain weight, I had the comment from others : Oh I wish I had that problem , it really rubs me the wrong way.....3 -
I am sick of the following inner monologue.
Body: "Yo lets eat that!"
Brain: "No"
Body: "Ooohh Lets eat THIS!"
Brain: "Dude, no"
Body: "Ok, ok but lets just have one of these!!"
Brain: "BODY SHUT UP!! YOU KNOW THE CALORIE COUNT!!"
We go to war everyday and only come together when the food diary is done and that sense of pride washes over us.

Unsolicited advise is never welcome, but you could just ask: "Hey, what's up with the weight contest between us?" And then listen.
It does sound like an uncomfortable situation, though. I hope it gets better.6 -
The gym closest to my house has an upstairs track. Most of the group exercise rooms are also upstairs around the track. The track has two lanes and multiple signs posted that say something like "To avoid collisions, walk/run on your right hand side, just like you drive." Therefore, neither lane is dedicated to either running or walking, but everyone is to stay on their right hand side. I don't know why, but apparently this is pretty complicated for some of the people who run around that track because I've had more than a few near misses walking around corners (you can't see them until they are basically in your face) headed to a group class because some of the people running on it get on the wrong side. They then have the nerve to roll their eyes as if they think they have a dedicated running lane. There is not a dedicated running lane and using basic reading skills would clue them in to that.2

My personal trainer has been out of pocket for a while so I tried working with another one at my gym. He was young and seemed to be a real go-getter. However, he did not listen to anything I had to say about my health, diet and overall physical fitness. I have lived with my body for 47 years ... I think I know what I can and can't do and what I would be willing to try.
I shattered half of my left kneecap almost 10 years ago and it has been a hard road getting it as strong as my other knee, especially since the muscles and connective tissue separated from my kneecap and had to be reattached on the "good" side. My knee no longer moves up and down like a hinge but rather sort of to the side and then back into place. One exercise I simply cannot do is the leg extension machine. I have had my knee lock up and that is a hell I don't want to revisit. The trainer kept on insisting I "try" it ... I finally had to basically shout at him and he got offended. I told him I got offended because he didn't listen to a word his paying client had to say. Now we give each other the evil eye in the gym ...9 -

I have actually headbutted someone in the chest. He and his girlfriend were tossing a ball around and it landed on the other side of the pool. It was late and my mom and I were the only other people in the pool. He decided to just walk across the lanes without paying attention and I had no idea he was there. I slammed into him at full force. At least he apologized.
My rant - why is it so hard for cyclists to ring a bell or yell "behind" when approaching? I make an effort not to take up the entire trail when walking my dog, but it isn't that wide and he is 75lbs and extremely hyper even on the 4' leash. It's really obnoxious when I suddenly hear tires on sand right behind us and have to pull Waldo to side to avoid him getting run over. Especially since the side of the trail is full of cacti, anthills and goatheads. And of course the cyclist never says a thing. The times when someone is actually considerate enough to give a few seconds warning gives me time to get us out of the way in a more orderly and safer fashion and usually lets me find a reasonable clear space on the side where Waldo won't get hurt standing or sitting.5 -
The Keto obsession! I know that it can work, it has done wonders for one of my coworkers with leaky gut and allergies. However!!! Every corner I turn seems to be keto keto keto this keto that.... Ugh, other nutritional programs that still work are out there and I don't seem to hear about them every 5 seconds.
Also Frustrated with myself, just like I'm sure others are - I tend to do very well for months and months and then boom junk, junk, junk! And, yes, I try to allow myself splurges or daily treats that fit in my day, but just get sick of it all. The good news is I keep trying and jump back into it.

Try hiking in a skirt. I can ALWAYS find a place to duck off the trail for a pee break. Unless there is poison oak or long grass that might be harboring snakes or ticks.

I live in a rural area with one tiny gym and one personal trainer. I hired her and told her my goals and limitations (like back and shoulder issue and wanting to build strength and endurance gradually). She didn’t listen to any of it and gave me a cookie cutter program designed for a 25-year old who is already in shape. She’s been in bodybuilding competitions so thinks she knows it all.

Jerks who listen to their music without headphones. I walk a beautiful nature trail near my house every day, it's gorgeous and there's a stream burbling alongside the path, birds and little animals scurrying - it's like a Disney animation come to life. I love it. And most of the time everyone I see is super friendly and nice and says hello and I get to pet all the good doggos. But once in a while, there will be some inconsiderate jerk strolling along blasting their music at top volume from their phone speakers. No. Stop it. I don't want to hear your garbage musical choices. Put your gorram headphones in.11

Seriously, I have a coworker who did this on a kayak trip and I had to paddle ahead out of embarrassment but also because I wanted to hear the birds. Like, why spend the money to go out in nature like that if you can't have a full sensory experience?5 -
I get annoyed when my co-workers talk about food constantly!! They come into work & talk about what they had for dinner, then proceed to talk about all the "healthy" food trends these days. They want to eat healthy, work-out, etc. Then......it's ALL about lunch!! What burger joint or pizza joint to go to for lunch. Really?? Yeah, that's ALL the healthy foods these days. So annoying!!3

Agree 100%!! I eat some strange combos & my co-workers give me strange looks. I can have a plateful of veggies, fruits, & protein & only consume roughly 300 calories. While they eat 3 fries with 300 calories!!1
