Which peanut butter is better for you?

I like my peanut butter on toast but I am unsure of which type is better for you; smooth or crunchy, I was told smooth...
It has been difficult for me to know what one is best, people keep telling me to go for crunchy and I had got mine from sainsburies in the past. It showed a colour for every nutrition on the products label and I always tried to not go for the one that had the most red alert on the symbol.
Can someone please help me know which is the healthiest option; crunchy or smooth?

Neither is "healthier". They are both peanut butter. Is their nutritional information even different?
Smooth is better because it doesn't tear up my bread when I spread it on.16 -

The one you find more pleasant to eat is better.
not sure why leaving some peanuts un-crushed makes it more or less healthy? especially if it's the same brand/type just one has some peanut pieces left in the other crushed them all up.
When in doubt look at the labels and compare...7 -
Go for the one with only peanuts (or roasted) in ingredient list if your concerned about 'healthiest' choice...sugar,molasses, hydrogenated vegetable oils salt, preservatives, etc., shouldn't be on the list...10

They are basically identical. The differences are so minimal that it is not worth choosing one vs the other based on them. Eat the one that you enjoy more.3

quiksylver296 i was curious on your chart so pulled out the brand i buy (in both crunchy and smooth) and those products list identical values. curious if it depends on the brand...
(I will admit online they didn't list folate or vitamine E values). and protein is likely rounded...will check actual bottles when i get home.4 -
This would be a case of majoring in the minors.
Eat a balanced and varied diet, with as many different nutritious foods as you can. Don't sweat the small stuff. Unless your diet is peanut-butter based and your a nutbuttertarian, this is the small stuff Eat the one you like better.17 -

In fairness, I just Googled for an image. I only eat smooth so I didn't have anything to compare to.0 -
You will take my Kraft PB both smooth and creamy out of my cold dead hands! I don't care that it's over processed and whatnot I love it and just make it fit into my calories.4

Thank you for all of your suggestions, support and compliments on my question, I think I will go crunchy option for a while to see how it will go.
have a good day!2 -

OP, see how what goes? There will be no perceptible difference in your health or weight loss between creamy and crunchy. Eat whichever one you prefer, or what's on sale/looks good when you go shopping.4 -
Neither is healthier than the other, actually, they are equally unhealthy due to the added sugars. I'd suggest a natural brand with no added sugars.14

JIF Creamy is better for you.
End of discussion.10 -

Come on.
Not even the beginning of the discussion on that one.

Try making PB cookies out of JIF vs. Kraft. HELL-o! No comparison.0

I use "peanut only" pb's. it's a personal choice/preference strictly on taste preference. I'm not brand specific, as long as the ingredient is only roasted peanuts i'm good.
I prefer crunchy, in my house smooth jar was for the dog(s) and crunchy jar for the human (me)2 -
I only use extra extreme crunchy peanut butter... it's just peanuts. "This is radical!" [stolen from Jim Gaffigan and paraphrased]3

I'd suggest avoiding any peanut butter with a hydrogenated oil on the ingredients list, because trans fats aren't good for us even in small amounts, and anything less than 0.5g lists as zero in the trans fats line on the label as I understand it.
Other than that, crunchy vs. smooth doesn't matter. I prefer a crunchy PB with just peanuts and salt in it, but that's a taste-preference thing.3 -

The only thing those differences can reflect is different formulations in the available brands of smooth and crunchy peanut butters the USDA found to purchase and average. If you buy a peanutbutter that contains nothing but peanuts and salt, there won't be variations in the added or substituted fats and how much sugar is added.3 -
There is very little difference between crunchy or creamy as far as nutrition goes. The one thing you should look for (and avoid) in any peanut butter are those with palm or palm kernel oil. Definitely not one of the healthier oils and the production is causing deforestation at an alarming rate.3
-
I always check the ingredients and don't buy the ones with palm oil in. Also check the salt content.
Was looking at almond butter earlier in a bargain store, was interested because was crunchy, and usually only see smooth almond butter. First thing in the ingredients list was vegetable oil, so that stayed on the shelf!1 -
My fav is Trader Joe’s crunchy/salted. I love the taste and the fact that it has two ingredients; peanuts and salt.0

It’s whatever you enjoy more. Crunchy for me, I like crunch in my food.0

All I know about peanut butter is that if anyone tells you you're eating to much of it, get rid of them. No one needs that kind of negativity.

Skippy crunchy reduced fat is my FAVORITE. I think I love the fake sugars they put in there. But i once tried a butterscotch peanut butter made at a local farmers market; heaven!0
