Except simple =/= easy. And when someone is asking for help, "just stop" isn't very helpful. If they could, they already would have.
I forgot we are living in the coddling age. Nobody can make you stop snacking or even lose weight, it’s simply a mind over matter thing. I can sit here and list several tips but unless she’s ready to do exactly what I suggested, none of them will work. And nobody said anything about “easy”, none of this is “easy”. You have to push yourself and be your own motivator. If I had the sensitive mentality most of you have on here, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
Yes, it can be 'easy', or at least it doesn't have to be any harder than it needs to be.
That's the problem is people for some reason decide that in order to lose weight it has to be hard, it has to be difficult, it has to be a struggle. It's almost as if people don't think weight loss is valid unless it's a punishment.
There are dozens of methods, strategies and tactics that can be employed to manage weight. The key is to find the ones that come natural and easy and do those things. Do this and the need for "motivation" is eliminated.
In fact I'm of the opinion that if you're relying on 'motivation' to keep you going you're probably doing the wrong things for you, and worse since motivation is a fleeting, temporary thing, once it runs out you'll be right back where you started.11 -
Well this light-hearted discussion went south very quickly! Lemme diffuse the situation...I'll get the chocolate fountain out...I'm sure I have plenty of home grown Radishes for everybody to dip into it and we'll all be satiated! #ChocolateRadishParty15

I go to the gym 3 times a week and spend 45 - 60 mins mainly on cardio but I also do legs, bums and tums once a week. However, I'm struggling so much with my diet so I've actually gained weight. I keep snacking on biscuits and cakes. How can I reduce these cravings and improve my diet?
You wouldn't think a simple question like this could go so off the rails, but here we are
First, make sure you aren't setting your calorie goal too low, causing you to eat too little at meals and crave snacks to the point you over eat them. Unless you have 50+ lbs to lose, you really shouldn't be set for more than 1 lb per week, and if you got your calorie goal from MFP, you should be logging your exercise and eating back some of those calories.
In addition to this, make sure you are eating foods you like! If you are eating boring "diet" foods all day, cravings are sure to follow. Structure your diet so you are fitting in the foods you like, as much as possible.
I found it really helpful to pre-log my days as much as I can, including leaving calories for snacks. I find it's easier to only eat planned snacks and stick to my portion when I know throughout the day I've left room for a yummy treat and can eat it without feeling bad.
Try weighing out your snack portion, putting the package away, logging your snack (if it wasn't pre-logged), and walking away to eat it somewhere else.
I have cookies or ice cream or pretzels almost every day. I get my nutritious "good" stuff in my meals, and eat what I want for snacks. Try not to get bogged down in good food/bad food, eating at the "right" times, and don't feel bad if you slip up and eat too much. Log it and learn from it so you can do better tomorrow.

I'm the last person to "coddle" someone. Ask my kid.
But, maybe you list those several tips and one of them resonates with her completely and is the tool she needs to help her reach her goal.
That's what these forums are for, to help each other. You don't seem like you are here to do that.12 -
