I have worn close-fitting dresses (bodycon? Sheath? Pencil? I'm still not sure of the difference between dress styles). In fact, having never worn those styles before in my life, they now seem to be half my wardrobe. Now that my belly is so much less bulgy, I just love showing off the shape of this new body I made15

I love this idea! Celebrating what we've gained through what we've lost
- I spent a lot more time outside and I have a fantastic tan going right now
- I'm a lot more active with my friends now and suggest things like volleyball or frisbee golf
- I wore a two-piece swimsuit for the first time last week and felt amazing!
- I biked 27 miles in 2 hours because...well...I can now

This is great thread - I finished losing 125 lbs in April and have been maintaining since -some of my new experiences
Don't shy away from mirrors,
More than happy to have my picture taken - and eager to see them afterwards -
use to hate the way I looked as it did not match the way i see myself in my "minds eye". For the first time in almost 20 years, I am proud of how I look - and feel great!7 -
75 pounds gone with another 40 to go or so but in the meantime.....I have paddle boarded in the ocean off Maui, I ran a 12k and was not last, I can dead lift 225# and I am learning to let go of the sorrow I have about waiting until I was 53 years old to do what it took to get my life back (weight off). Those are my top ones..

60 pounds lost.
Started running at age 58 and love it. 5ks, 10ks and now training for a half marathon.
Jumped off a boat and swam with whale sharks.
Swam in several cenotes in Mexico.
Use the paddle board my DH bought 10 years ago.
Wore a 2 piece swimsuit on a public beach.
Celebrated my 60th birthday with a 10k run.

I go on roller coasters, I used to be the one volunteering to hold the bags, I am willing to try new things, learnt to swim, play tennis, give my opinion when asked, generally so much more confident4

Love this thread! I have run a half marathon, and placed 2nd in a trail race series. I can bend over, grab my toes, and touch my face to my knees. Can do a handstand. Can do real toe pushups. Learning Bollywood dancing and shuffle dancing. I can do a butterfly stroke without feeling like I’m about to die.
I wear cute skirts and dresses all the time now, I used to wear boring clothes and never show my legs. I also wear makeup and do my fingernails. I never used to bother.
Sunday night my husband and I were eating on the patio at a burger joint which had live music. The band started playing “The Twist” and the cutest older couple got up and started dancing. So we got up and danced too. And a bunch of people jumped in, some college girls, a guy with his young daughter, another couple. It was more people than I’ve ever seen on a restaurant dance floor in this town, people never dance here unless it’s a club. Anyway fat me would never have done that. It’s not exactly a new thing, since I used to do that sort of thing all the time when I was college age and skinny, but it’s been thirty years!17 -

We went to Cancun Mexico. They are there June-September. One of the best experiences ever!

I bought white shorts and capris, never wore white before, thought it made me look big, no more, I can now wear this, also bought a short jean skirt which is different for me!1

My Osteo Arthritis went into remission and I walked/struggled/suffered up and down this mountain last week. I honestly don't know how I made it. It was the hardest thing I have ever done.

It is incredibly inspiring to see all the things that you have all achieved, tried, done, that you would never have been able to do before the weight loss.
Even the smallest thing can feel like a huge achievement when you weren't able to do it before. For example, just putting my socks on without a painful struggle was an achievment at the beginning of my journey.
Keep achieving, trying, doing all those amazing things. You are all incredible.3 -

OMG. This so unbelievably resonates with me. (age 57, shed 71 pounds, and seven to go, unless I move my goal a fourth time. Which may happen.)3 -

Yes the thought that I could have done this years ago. I have been up and down with my weight since my 20's mainly up. So much wasted time with fad diets. Then to find MFP and get some kind of stable weight loss going has changed so much for me.5 -
I joined a Rock Choir! I didn't need to lose weight to do it but the fact that I had done so, along with having more energy and more confidence gave me the oomph to do it. I shouldn't have waited - we are indeed all shapes and sizes and both able bodied and less able bodied. I cannot and never sing on my own, I can find and hold a note when surrounded by others but would never do a solo. I cannot read music (doesn't matter for the choir I joined) and would never be able to audition (also doesn't matter for the choir I joined). It is great. It fills time that I may otherwise use to nibble! It helps breathing and we dance along to the music so it burns calories too. And I have had the opportunity to join my friends and sing at some pretty amazing venues - including Abbey Road (Beatles fame) recording studios, London's BBC Proms in the Park and all points in between. If you are ever feeling awkard, lonely and in need of a boost - find a choir - cannot recommend highly enough.7
