Hey, getting bored before you get full is a legitimate strategy!
I half kid, I eat salad a bunch, but it needs to be dressed and will include a protein of some kind.7 -
Where do you get your protein from? While salad can certainly be a good meal, having that is a "lifestyle" would certainly lead to protein deficiency and muscle loss.11
-
Not for me. I eat a large amount of salads with anything from just dressing to chicken or steak and other veggies in it, but I would never, ever be able to eat enough veggies only salad (going by the pic) to keep me satisfied.8

That and that^^7 -
My salad barely fits in a 3quart mixing bowl and then I generally have about a pound of fish with it.6

salad is the food that my food eats.16

Salad is very good but we need at least 2 oz of protein at every meal because the brain needs a steady stream of amino acids. Those are the building blocks to make mood-steady and brain healing serotonin. Plus, protein for the brain cuts the risks of brain aging.18

What that salad needs is some steak. Yup, 120ish grams of tri-tip would make that salad fit my macros perfectly.5

I love salads in the warmer months! My go-to at Panera is the strawberry poppyseed with chicken but its only available a few months a year. In the winter I crave warm foods so salads like this don't get it done for me.
A note about the lifestyle .... I actually have tried to make it a lifestyle lately. I love to support local farming, and I have started to grow my own herbs, and my boyfriend grows a lot of veggies. So I have been making an effort to add into my weekends trips to the farmers market, and definitely am enjoying the gardening aspect with my boyfriend. Then when we go to make the salads it feels like we have really put our heart and soul into them and it is a type of indulgence I have not experienced with food up till now. I'm really loving it6 -
oh, also .... I really am not a fan of most vegetables, so this is helping me slowly learn to appreciate them more and maybe even one day like the taste of them!2

Definitely, salad on its own is not sufficient to cover your daily nutrients.
Salad is a very important meal among other 4 meals full of different nutrients.
Usually, i eat egg whites, chicken breast and fish for protien 🍗🥚🐟.
Also, Brown rice and brown toast as a source of carbohydrates🍞🍚
I tend to drink 2-3 liters of water along my day.
The point is i really appreciate a good bowl of salad with some dressing or seasoning on it 🥗.

I love how versatile a meal based around a salad can be. The majority of the time I just enjoy it a variety of ways as a more nutritious dish. Other times, I'll load it up for maximum enjoyment. Whether someone pictures "salad" as just a bowl full of greens, or an all out fiesta, it's certainly a great way to fill some holes in the weekly menu.1 -

You're speaking my language! I have an enormous salad every single day for dinner. Sometimes I switch a few things around with it but it's mostly the same. I never get tired of it. Yes that is a mixing bowl, ha ha. Yum!

I'm not a veggie/vegan and never eat only a salad.
However, I eat a lot of fruit and veggies w/my MEAT. So, it's not like there's nothing green on my plate.1 -
The salad photos look amazing! I also eat a mixing bowl of salad almost every night for dinner and never tire of it. So good!2

Hi, I can't believe I can say this now but I too appreciate a good salad. I eat a salad every day for lunch and sometimes I even have one for breakfast. I add salmon or tuna to it. I will start adding chicken to it. I just started putting in some chia seeds. What is that light orange item in your salad? Sweet potato? Do you make your own dressing? I have been wanting to for some time but have not yet. I want to make one that is healthy and easy to put together. Been using the Olive Garden Light dressing.2

Hey, i just wanted to thank you so much for your support .
As per your question the orange element is carrots 🥕.
You can add 2 drops of extra virgin olive oil and a few drops of vinegar to it .
I also add a spray of cumin and salt on the top for seasoning 👌🏻.

If you have a stick blender it really cuts down on the effort of making your own dressing. You can make small amounts so you can keep tweaking your recipe and clean-up is very easy.
I have gotten kind of lazy lately and been dressing my salad with just oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. I need to get back in the habit of making my own again. I roasted a huge batch of garlic and I still have plenty of it in the freezer waiting for me to start again.1 -
I'd start with just a vinaigrette or vinegar/mustard/oil based on, add herbs, garlic, etc. It's the easiest thing in the world to make. No tools needed but a spoon or whisk (depending on how much you make).
Some ideas: https://cookieandkate.com/how-to-make-vinaigrette-plus-variations/
I have been playing around with some nut-based ones (basically more of a creamy garlic type), but I always go back to vinaigrette as my standard -- you can control cals by how much olive oil you use, even though there is a standard ratio. I find less oil will still work fine (and for super low cal there are vinegar/mustard options).
For some salads where the flavors go I'd do sriracha, lime juice, and soy sauce, with perhaps a drop or two of fish sauce.3 -
Thanks for the tip.
Honestly i find it really cool that everyone is sharing their ideas and recipes ♥️♥️
Much love to you all ✌🏻♥️✌🏻2 -
I'm going to need a list of what's in that mixing bowl salad!0
-
I would love to eat more salad, but anything more then a single side salad a day makes my digestive track very very angry and I will be up all night in the bathroom.2
-
Sure it’s really simple actually.
Cucumber, tomatoes , green pepper , carrots, purple cabbage and onions
As per the seasoning few drops virgin olive oil and drops of vinegar with some cumin and salt 👌🏻♥️
You can add some mayo or any kind of dressing that you like ✌🏻3 -
I eat salad about as often as I go to Olive Garden.2

Damn right! I love salad.2

My salad today was a veggie delight from subway base with 1/2 lettuce 2x spinach, 2x red onion, 2x bell pepper, and cucumbers. To that I added 100 grams of broccoli slaw and 150 grams of sprouted mung beans. Dressed with s&p, oil, and vinegar.
I like doing Subway as the base and adding to it because it is fast and easy.2
