I wish it were some miracle thing, but I feel if it were, I wouldn't be here. I consume it because I love the flavor but benefits, not so much.
I can tell you a nice bowl of cucumbers, bell peppers and sweet onion in vinegar on a hot summer day is an amazing, low-calorie snack that will definitely change your life.
I do something similar with cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions in balsamic vinegar. Growing up, vinegar always meant ACV. If a recipe required something else like white vinegar it had to specify it.0 -
ACV works for me. I do a cap fill into a large glass of water when working out. For me to help stopped the cravings of snacks after dinner and clearned up my plaque serious. I have tried severl brands (Trader Joe's, Costco) however Bradd's works the best for me.14

Works well as a salad dressing and I use it in my skin care routine, but as for weight loss it really only makes you full. Also, it’s used as a food preserver, so I don’t know how well that would work with food digestion (it seems like it would work against it). But I’m no expert, so I would consult one before investing your time and energy. Good luck on your weight loss journey though🤗1

If he dissolves them in water they will work as a hair rinse.

well, yes, and it is good on pulled pork too and all the other uses people mention in these threads.
But he said his wife claims it works - so am wondering what she thinks it works for.0 -

For me, at 35% acetic acid they would work really well at creating heartburn. You are right, I would love to hear what they work for too.5 -
ACV .... I dunno; maybe it helps with weight loss ( a little ) ... maybe not.
and if it does, isn't the benefit negligible ?
However, a lot of things help a little.... and other actions ( or inactions ) help a lot.
Seems to me that it's a better use of time and energy to focus on health and fitness in the macro.
I like to keep it simple, that is:
Eat Clean ( very, very clean )
Lift Hard and Heavy ( to one's best and safest ability )
Mix in some Cardio, going hard & fast ( again, to one's best and safest ability )
Manage Stress
Get Plenty of Sleep
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
There ain't no magic bullet.... and if there is, it isn't ACV.

This is how apple cider vinegar can be helpful to the body, by providing probiotics similar to kombucha. You would have to make sure the kind you are using was raw like Bragg's, for example. Otherwise it would not have any live cultures in it.
To gain the probiotic benefit, it needs to be taken on an empty stomach about 30 minutes before a meal.
It doesn't help with weight loss, but can help regulate your digestive system.20 -
If you backup your woo with other woo does it become woo woo? Just curious....13

For weight loss. And it's more convenient and less shocking to the tastebuds than the liquid one.13 -

How does it aid in weight loss?3 -

In your wife's experience?
Ok I accept different things can help different people - It is still CICO but if the taste of this or the mental placebo effect or the chewing for 10 minutes, or whatever, helps you eat less, then, sure it works for you.
How do you or your wife think it works for her?

She doesn't exercise, isn't very careful about her eating, but lost weight consistently from drinking Apple Cider Vinegar?
Now she's found the tablets, and we're both using them.10 -
Ok. So the effect is unknown.
There are many people who don't exercise and aren't careful about eating but do lose weight - obviously they are still eating in a calorie deficit but are managing to do so without tracking it.
I doubt the ACV tablets are doing anything - but if they somehow help you achieve a calorie deficit that's good.3 -

If the apple cider vinegar is pasteurized and not raw, it will kill off the good bacteria. Let me know if you need a citation for that too.10 -

From the article:Many people attribute apple cider vinegar’s effects to the "mother." There’s some truth to this since the mother counts as a probiotic. But, the importance of the mother has not been established with research. The takeaway
Overall, ACV is safe. Everything has a possible downside, even ACV. Before you start guzzling apple cider vinegar, here are a few negative possibilities.
The acid in apple cider vinegar may erode your teeth enamel. You may want to guzzle some water after drinking it.
Anecdotally, acidic foods or liquids like vinegar may exacerbate acid reflux.
If you have chronic kidney disease, your kidneys may not be able to process the excess acid that comes along with drinking apple cider vinegar.
Like any supplement, ACV won't replace a healthy lifestyle. It may have some benefits to our bodies, but overall, we need more studies to truly understand the health benefits and side effects associated with ACV.
Couldn't find anything in there about pasteurization being bad, needing to take it 30 minutes before a meal, etc.

Among other things, why do you need to "take" it 30 minutes before a meal? The article you cite provides exactly no support for that claim.
I think cultured/fermented foods are beneficial and so vinegar may be for that reason too (need not be apple cider vinegar, although that one is best with pork and good with collards too, I prefer balsamic or white wine vinegar in a salad dressing). But I am unaware of some rule that sauerkraut or kimchi or yogurt or what not should be eaten separately 30 mins before a meal, and am skeptical that this is a common practice, so why the difference with ACV?4 -

Honestly? I think it's merely an attempt to give legitimacy to something for which no such benefits are currently known to exist. Makes it much more 'real' and, therefore, appealing to those who don't know any different. "Have you tried ACV? Oh, it didn't work for you? Did you take it on an empty stomach 30 mins before a meal? No? That's where you went wrong."9 -
Wow!! Didn't realize this product was so controversial. I can only say my weight had stagnated, then begun an upward trend. Now I'm seeing it coming back down again.1
-
Highly unlikely the ACV made any direct contribution to that.
If it somehow impacted on your CICO, by placebo effect making you more adherent to your diet or suppressing your appetite or something, I guess it could work..
As of course could any other placebo.3 -
For the few weeks I was drinking ACV, the only thing I lost was my will to live.6
-
I drink a tablespoon of Bragg's AVC in a glass of water to prevent kidney stones daily. I am prone to getting kidney stones and ACV is the only thing that helps in dissolving stones as soon as I get an attack. It has never helped with weight loss or anything else.2
-
I take a tablespoon of acv with a glass of water when I can't control my cravings. It kills my hunger spells so I eat less. It does make me feel full and stop thinking about food...maybe it's a mental thing??? I do this once a week when I feel the need.2
-
I use it for a few things:
Mixed with Dawn dish soap to clean my shower
As a rinse for my hair
To stop hiccups. When I get hiccups, they can last for days. The only thing I've ever found to stop them is a shot of vinegar.1 -

Sounds good. Thanks for your success story.1
