I try to eat a plant based diet but sometimes do vegetarian if out for dinner.
I have started a one month cleanse cutting out bread, pasta and rice.
I am 5 days in and feel more alert and have lost 4 lbs.
Anyone else doing this?
🤣

What the heck is carb cleanse? It sounds like removing bread crumbs from my kitchen worktop. Vegetables actually consist mostly of carbs.12

Carbs aren't dirty, you don't have to wash them.7

How would a vegetarian do a carb cleanse? Plant foods ARE carbs.8

Bread, pasta, and rice aren't contaminants therefore you don't need to be cleansed from them.4

There's really no such thing as a food reset. There's not enough cleanses in the world that can fix a relationship with food. Our kidneys and liver take care of whatever needs to be cleansed. If they didn't do their daily job we would end up in the hospital within hours.
I can only surmise but it sounds like you've been leaning less on vege and more on grains. There's no need to be so brutally strict with yourself right out of the chute. Your very next meal is your time to hit your macros and data points. No need for a 30 day cleanse. Those seldom work for anyone waaaay down the road, resulting in temporary results without any cognitive behavior changes.6 -
I eat bread and pasta, and everything else I like (don’t like rice). Lost over half of my body weight without any “cleanses”. My liver and kidneys takes care of that. Super efficient!3

Hi, Annie. I have no opinions on carb cleanses, at least none I feel like expressing, but I know you're here in good faith, looking for help with your health journey, and that you deserve kindness and respect. Some of these responses seem smug and rude, whether truthful or not, and I hope you're feeling okay.6

if that's your woe, more power too ya. good luck!1

What are you eating instead? I’m trying to incorporate more legumes in my diet and potatoes. I used chick pea pasta tonight in my sauce. Hopefully it’s good! There’s nothing wrong with trying to eat more whole carbs and less processed carbs. Good luck!5

I'm a mostly-vegetarian (previously full vegetarian for the past few year) and my fiancé is vegetarian, and we do keto. I thought it would be really hard at first too, but it's actually very easy once you adjust to it. Plenty of vegetarian foods are low carb, like cheese, eggs, tofu, and green vegetables. There are a lot of great recipes out there. For example, tonight for dinner I made saag paneer served over cauliflower rice.
It's definitely not necessary for weight loss - no special diet or cleanse is! - but after years of tracking calories and feeling hungry all the time I finally found that low carb allows me to feel much more satisfied on fewer calories. It works for me even as a vegetarian.2 -
For those who replied in a constructive way i am having cauliflower rice and courgetti. It is certainly having the desired effect2

I have no issue at all with folks choosing a low carb approach to weight loss. I also have no issue with vegetarians.0
