I want to fit into the cute clothes in my closet. I also want to turn heads when I’m at the beach.4

Confidence...true confidence and not the facade that others get to see.6

My petty reason is I want to rock a body at 46 (47 by the time I reach my goal) and make all the younger people’s jaw drop when they see a grandma in a bikini. 😊12

Oops! Meant to say coming off maternity lol2 -
My boyfriend is slim and fit, I look so fat next to him. I'll make us the fit couple.6

I think I answered this last year but that got me nowhere. My petty reason is I feel like the only 23-yo that wants to LOOK their age. I feel like I'm playing dress-up whenever I dress professionally because I feel like a clown in those tents.8

Because I am fed up looking for motivational threads on MFP. I want to be the motivation.26

1. I want my husband to have a trophy wife.
2. When we decide to have children, I want people to know that I'm pregnant and not just fat 🤷♀️9 -
I was thin once, and I got treated infinitely better by almost everyone. I miss that!20

Not only am I fat but rapidly balding in my late 20s. Need to shave the dome soon and really don't want to rock the Buddha look.
Sadly I got off track and gained a bunch back. So I might have to rock the Buddha look. Oh well, motivation to bust my *kitten* working out and keep eatting well. Hope to be non buddah by next summer.18 -
I want to make heads turn when I walk into a room.8

- Squat: 295 lbs / 134 kg x 4
- Deadlift: 330 lbs / 149.5 kg x 3
- Bench: 195 lbs / 88.5 kg x 3
- Seated Press: 107.5 lbs / 48.5 kg x 5
Or at least that's where they were in 2017.4 -
My petty reason: I want to be thin to feel more accepted by my boyfriend's family. They haven't done anything overt, just little things that I probably overanalyze. Like, his grandfather calls my boyfriend's sister-in-law "Beautiful" (like a playful nickname, as in, "How are you, Beautiful?"). He has never called me that, or anything close. She is thin and beautiful, I'm not thin nor particularly good looking. His whole family loves her! And so do I, but it's tough having her there as a comparison.
My boyfriend's mom doesn't like me. And I just have a feeling it's because of my appearance. She recently fat-shamed an acquaintance of hers to me. She has mentioned being too fat to find a dress for her other son's upcoming wedding (she's not fat). And she recently said to me "I love [daughter-in-law, a.k.a Beautiful]." And didn't follow it up with "and you, too" or anything. Even if all this didn't happen, I'm still pretty sure she doesn't like me. It's just the vibe I get. Anyway, I think if I lost the weight and wore smaller, more fashionable clothes, she would be more accepting, and that the whole family would be more comfortable having me around.
My boyfriend and I might be getting a domestic partnership this year. If we decide to and he tells his mom, I'm afraid that his mom will disapprove, with the underlyinv reason being my appearance.
Sorry for the rant! Basically, my current petty reason to lose weight is so my appearance can't be a factor in the family's opinion of me.31 -
@GirlWithCookies You know your boyfriend chose to be with you, family are an unfortunate side effect of that. If you want to lose weight do it for you, their reaction may be a nice bonus however it is your opinion that matters.2

Posting an after pic on my 55th birthday (in late September) after being off social media for over a year. I've lost about 35 lbs so far, hoping to get to 55 lbs by then (55 by 55!). It's going to be tough, but fingers crossed.16

Petty reason: I’m tired of being the “big girl” in my friends group. Even when I was at my lowest weight always felt crappy being in pictures with them but even more so now that I’ve put on 35 pounds! Also, there’s a lot of clothes I love that I can’t wear right now!12

Petty reason... because I want to be thinner than the other gals in my graduating class of '69.10

Number one reason is to be healthier and avoid associated issues that come with the weight. Diabetes runs on my dad's side of the family.
I like the comment looking good naked. Yes this!!!!
Also, would like to get back down to my weight when I was in the Marines and fit into my old uniforms.6 -

I want my girlfriend to be proud that she's got a slim middle aged boyfriend.6

For me it was shame. I was around young, slim people at university and I was ashamed of the way I looked. Probably the first time in my life I felt that way.5 -
I don't want to be the fat coworker who has to wear sweaters because her suit jackets don't fit. I don't want to be the fat bridesmaid in my friend's wedding. I don't want to be fat in my engagement photos. I don't want to be a plus size bride. I want to save money by being able to fit into a sample dress.8

This Dapper Dummy
wants to look good for the Dames
Is that petty enough for ya?8 -
I want to have someone think/say...wow, I wish I had her...12

I don't want to die and am very ill and obese. That's my "petty" reason. What a ridiculous thread.18

that is me also. do not want to end up like my Dad did (heart disease, diabetes) and I was heading there!6 -
Yeah you're right, I do want to lose weight to be more healthy. But in all honestly I'm turning 30 within the next six months and I want to be viewed as the hot mom of two, I love when people look at me and be amazed that I'm 29, because they always think I'm younger so yeah being hot now and even hotter when I get older is my why.6

I want to fit back into my cute 50's style rockabilly dresses and feel strong and confident when I decided to get back into dating.10
