Well hello to everyone out there!
I am fifty and trying to change my lifestyle. I have sporadically logged on MFP in the past but have not totally drank the kool aid and committed to change. So here goes. My name is Sid and I need to lose thirty pounds but my goal is 40! I have been flirting with a diabetes diagnosis. Meaning when I become sedentary a gain weight my A1C will hover close to 6.0. I would like help from the community to beat the wrap.
I currently am doing cardio for 30-40 min. per day, plus strength training for 45 min. per day.

Welcome!
Weight loss is all about the calories - exercise is great for fitness so keep at it, but it won't necessarily help you lose the weight you want to lose.
Get yourself a food scale, set up your profile here appropriately, check out the stickied forum posts to get started, and ask for help if you need it. These are particularly good:

I will be 50 in 2 weeks. I've been logging my food and doing intermittent fasting for about 15 months now. I've lost close to 80 pounds with another 23 to go to reach my goal. I have chronic health problems including Rheumatoid Arthritis, hypothyroidism, and Type 2 diabetes. All nicely controlled thanks to the weight loss. I guess what I'm saying is: I'm living proof that it CAN be done! Welcome and best wishes.4

Welcome to the community!
I was able to get off insulin and have stayed off it. You can do this!3 -
I was just diagnosed today with hypothyroidism. Not sure where to start. At least I know why it has been so difficult to lose weight and no energy for exercise which I have always loved....1

Once you get on the proper dose of meds, you'll see a difference in your ability to lose weight. Good luck!0
