What Motivates You?

Energy. Period.2

For work, it is the paycheck.
For the gym, to constantly better myself and continually improve.4 -
Winning. That comes in many forms. At work, as a leader, as a mom. I am motivated by being my best for those that depend on me.4

I am 51 and 3 years ago I weighed 35 lbs heavier....still have 10 to go but what motivates me is more energy plus clothes look better and I want to be in great shape! So hiking, stair climbing and kickboxing r my exercise go tos2

Every day it's something different. Today it was an old man I met at the gas station named Quetzalcoatl who told me that "the winds are talking". I didn't know what he meant by that until I was in the last mile of my run this evening, then it hit me deep.3

Growing up and in school, my parents required me to excel. Anything less than an A was not acceptable, so I have always been pushed to succeed. I still carry that with me and just want to do well at work. It gives me satisfaction knowing I’m capable and can use my skills in a good way. Also, in my field, I can’t be careless or incompetent because if I mess up too bad, I can be sued or worse yet, kill someone.
When it comes to diet and exercise, I am motivated by health! I want to stay healthy and look young. I also want to fit my clothes. 5-10 lbs is a dress size for me so I don’t have much wiggle room. Plus, eating better makes me feel better.
Happiness comes from gratitude. I try to find joy in little things and appreciate what i have. I am all about the Law of Attraction. I try to be mindful and have the right attitude but I’m human and fall off sometimes. As I have gotten older, I learned to accept my flaws and not let them bother me. Last year, I had a very traumatic experience and now little things that used to bother me are like nothing! I really appreciate life now.

In health the motivation is energy and vanity. I like not having to think about how I'm going to be able to mask the fat when I get dressed. I like not huffing and puffing just doing regular activities.
In life the motivation is time. I've wasted enough not meeting my goals and it's a lesson learned.3 -

For me its personal goals for improvement. Happiness comes from self first. The people I lead and mentor motivate me to run the extra mile, get that extra pullup, keep my 4.0. Never give in, push your mind and body to the limit. You never know what one person can accomplish until you've pushed yourself to failure. We learn from failure, success doesn't teach us as much. Motivate, own the day today, be the best version of you!2

I think it's my own brain. I typically over-analyze everything, then at some point just close my eyes, jump in and GO!! Doesn't matter what it is. Big decisions. Small ones. Always been that way. I have a lot of shortcomings, but lack of motivation is not one of them. Highly motivated with a tendency to snarkiness. I would gladly give someone some of my motivation for some of their ..say... capacity to empathize...2

Last April I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes....My Dad had type 2 diabetes for last 25 years of his life. Seeing all the misery he went through and losing both his legs, and eventually his life, is my motivation to take back my health. Since then I have lost a total of 64 lbs so far on my way to 100.5

Great job @nighthawk584 . My motivation is the same, I wanted to get healthy when I started to get serious. When you get that type-2 diabetes diagnosis, it's rough. Many ups and downs in this journey myself, but I'm down to one med, and hope to be off that soon as well and get to say I beat diabetes.2

Ageing. I want a financially comfortable retirement, and I want decent health to enjoy it. And recognizing that the responsibility for both of those is 100% mine.4

Same. All the happy brain chemicals.
In a twisted way I also like being perceived as an overachiever and as "perfect" in specific ways, but not all ways. I feel lucky that I am not a true perfectionist though as I think it would kill me.1 -
Mediocrity. More accurately, when I see ordinary people doing excellent things.4
