Do you think the intended meaning of "woo" was originally more like "woof", or "whew", as in an expression of dismay? Or was "woo" intended to carry its official meaning, "to seek the affection or love of someone", or "to solicit favor or approval" (as per Dictionary.com)?
The "woo" icon baffles me -- is that a sickened face, or are they "googly-eyed"?
I think all my exaggerated curiosity is a cue for me to go to bed.6 -

The original woo here was intended to be ambiguous, it was meant to be used either as a woohoo to cheer someone one, or woo as the shortened form of woo woo, which meant scientifically inaccurate. At some point they decided to make it single meaning, the too good to be true/scientifically inaccurate. But many people assumed that it was woohoo, because it is smack in the middle of other positive reactions. The app icon to me looks like the side-eye emoji, and the laptop version looks like a flat mouth dude.7
