What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

My number one is health. I know I feel better when I eat better.
I never wanted to impress anyone but me. But I’m tired of my mom bod. My knees hurt, my back hurts, my guts suck, I still have ache for Pete sakes.4 -
I do a fair amount of traveling for work. I want to be more comfortable in an airplane seat.6

To say FU to the people who don't interact with me simply because I'm fat. If you don't like me now I'm not going to like you when.8

I only have a small amount of wardrobe space so I need smaller clothes7

This is so real - I travel an increasing amount for work and I hate having to lug about a suitcase, and I hated that I was stuffing things in and having to drag around an extra tote bag when I was back last week. Like, smaller clothes are tiny. I want to be able to do even my two-week field trips with, like, a duffel bag or a medium backpack that's not bursting at the seams.5 -

@planj - any progress in that time?1

I'm tired of not being able to find clothes that fit, I'm too small on top and bottom for the plus sizes, but my waist is to large for regular sizes. But also... my fiance's daughter is getting married in November and his ex wife will be there. I want to walk into that room feeling confident, and looking better than I ever have before!9

Yes.. 7 lbs.. which is more than I have lost in many years. Just working on vk weight gain to get back to my low. Thanks for asking.3 -
I would say my mom's snide comments about my weight, but she'll just take credit for my weight loss because of them. Say she "motivated" me to do it.
Be in better shape than the other Kindergarten dads is definitely on the list.11 -
@hmhill17 right with you, when my Dad who has been fat for as long as I can remember is making jokes about my weight it is not good.6

You guys should do what I did: I was living overseas (when I said to 'do what I did' I meant that tongue in cheek, as if anybody could simply do that at will) and not particularly speaking to my mother when I decided to lose the weight. When she finally saw me 50 pounds down she was forced to acknowledge, "You don't need me for that," re: weight loss, after decades of riding me about it and making a lot of backhanded 'sympathetic' analyses about how little self esteem I had (which I did not but because she's always coasted on her looks assumed that nobody could love themselves if they weren't hot, and projected that onto me).8 -
I really want to not be the fattest one in school reunion photos!
It's nearly 50 years since we all started High School so there have been a lot of changes. As the original fatty of the class - I am now slimmer and fitter than some of my classmates. I think the habit of having to take care has been with me for years, whereas some of them really did not had to struggle in the past, so the menopause / aging thing is hitting them harder. It's not impossible to be / stay slim as you age - but it does require more attention.6 -

Ha, very similar to me!
Looking at your profile I can see that you have done really well - inspiring too. Keep on keeping on, eh!3 -
PETTY: To make my mum proud of me - sad but true! She brought me a beautiful silk nightie when she visited in January. It was gorgeous, I was gobsmacked that she would connect it and me in her head. Then she said, "It's to help make you more svelte under all those dresses you wear." She's extremely thin, always has been. I've had hips and boobs (real hourglass) since I was 15. I went into adulthood thinking that shape was fat, because it wasn't the same as my mum's. On and off over the years, I've been actually overweight, and then the comments come. But she always seems surprised when I call her on them, and says she was genuinely trying to help. When I'm an OK weight, she does compliment me sometimes, but I take "You're looking good in that dress" to mean "You used to look like crap." No idea how much of my issue is her fault, and how much mine, or how much I'm projecting onto her unfairly, I just know that neither of us have EVER thought of me as the slim "type" of person, and I want to surprise her when I see her in October after 2 months (we live 200 miles apart). I'm down 11lb in 4 weeks, will keep on keeping on.
MORE PETTY: I want to look and FEEL good in bed
Most of all, I want to feel good in my own skin for the first time in my life. 40 was a wake-up call. I got this.13 -

We had our 35 year reunion last year and I was thinner than half the people there. It's a good feeling. I hope you get there!4 -
I want to walk by those mirrors in Walmart and not feel like I’ll be featured in one of those “people of Walmart” you tube videos.15

A few years back I wanted to be super-fit for my 20 year high school reunion, let all those girls back then see what they could have had yet spurned when we were younger (gangly dork with glasses, zero dates, got turned down for Prom and Homecoming so never went).
I posted to this effect back then and got summarily blasted by people on this forum for being so petty.23 -
OMG I love this. Could be titled “honest” reason. Mine is because I’m terrified to see anyone who hasn’t seen me in a while. Chances are, I won’t run into anyone as I live in a different town. Also no one cares... but I get anxiety leaving the house. I don’t mind leaving the house without makeup or in sweats, etc, but fat?!?! That’s too far!11

So I can finally update my Facebook photos! I now live far away from where I grew up, but I have gained so much weight and refuse to allow my current self to be revealed on Facebook. My photos are from age 45, but I am now 60. I receive comments of how great and young I look, and really don't have a good reply.
And then, earlier this year, my cousin came to visit and tagged me in photos on her page. I had to dash home in the hopes I deleted them off my page before someone saw my fat self.
I have lost 30 pounds this year and promised myself I will add some new photos when I lose another 20 pounds or so.17 -

I go for dinner and drinks a few times a year with my sister and some female cousins. My sister has always been the thin one out of the two of us (I was the “academic” one) and my cousins are like freaking models, all legs and lips and cheekbones. Just once I want to go out with them and not feel like the fat one, the one who had a panic trying to find something to wear instead of merrily going shopping for something cute or cool. I don’t want to be thinner than them but dammit I just want to blend!22

Man, I just want to be able to shop for cute outfits that express my personality with ease.10

I don't think that's petty.1 -

My mum always manages to comment on my weight without actually saying it directly, but never says anything positive. I'm seeing her in 4 weeks (will be 8 weeks since I last saw her), and want to be slim enough that she HAS to comment (positively).
Also, I'm 4 weeks off what would have been my due date for the baby I lost at 17 weeks in May. I want to have done something notable with my body by then, so that at least something good comes out of losing her.42 -
A few petty reasons:
1) I want to weigh less than my hubby
2) Our daughter is into BMX. I want to join in on family bike rides / practice. Tired of sitting on the sidelines!
3) I want to wear my wedding ring again
4) I want to look HOT for my 40th bday next year15 -
So I can look like I did when I was in my early 20's and get smaller than my sarcie sister4
