We are now accepting more brides to be for the September October challenge. Just pop your name onto the spreadsheet linked on the bottom of the post. If it confuses you, just let me know on here that you want to participate and I'll pop your name on it. We will be taking our weight and measurements and you are welcome to add notes and extra measurements to the spreadsheet if you wish. We take the measurements because they are very important for fitting our special day gowns!

Any type of bride is acceptable, be it a commitment ceremony, vow renewal or any kind of "wedding." We also like to chatter about our dresses, receptions, struggles, decor, ceremonies, etc.

I'll be accepting brides until September 3 and the challenge starts on Labor Day. All brides that actively participated in the last challenge were automatically entered in already with original measurements so no need to re-enter. If you don't want to participate anymore, just take your name off the sheet and I won't be offended.

Let's be fit and gorgeous on our big days!

Does it count if our wedding day is just under 4 years away? Lol.

That may sound odd but I want to be done with college and have enough to get a job with my degree. We also want to be able to save for our honeymoon to Hawaii(?). We'd also like to both be in great shape for the beaches (hence my interest in the group ;))

I don't even have a date set. If you already have a fiance, you can join the challenge. All that matters is that you are a bride to be.

I added myself to the spreadsheet!

My wedding date is December 17 so I need to bust a move! I had a great week for eating this week, just need to work on keeping that consistent and making sure I exercise.

I don't have fabric measuring tape, just the metal one, so I cut a piece of yarn the same size as my hip measurement, then measured my bust and waist (pretty bad that they're the same # lol), then used the metal measuring tape to see how long the string was at those points. I tied the string around the refrigerator handle a) to remind me to measure and b) motivate me if I think I'm hungry to really think about it, if I'm hungry or just bored or emotional.

My first dress fitting is September 16th so my 1st mini goal is to be down 5-10lbs by then. That is also the weekend of the Air Force ball (my fiance is AF) so I have to get a pretty gown for that too!

Thanks for starting this challenge! Great idea!

I put my name down on the spreadsheet, but I'll get my measurements tomorrow ... I've been having beers all day and don't want to measure now. :D

My date is 06/09/12 !! Went dress shopping for the third time yesterday. I may not be the same size in eight months, but I will still have the same taste and my body shape will be similar (it's always the same shape, just smaller when I lose weight). But this time the weight is coming off for good. For ever. The end. :)

MER! My bf and I are arguing over whether it's worth it to pay extras for certain things. I backed off pretty quickly on hiring a caterer and buying a wedding cake instead of doing it myself, (I'm a chef.) but I don't want blow our whole budget on a place because they will take care of the table, chairs and linens. Especially if we get another venue and rent the stuff ourselves and hire a staff for the night, we will save like $1000 that we don't have.

May I suggest that possibly getting some help from other catering professionals might be a good idea in relation to a wedding? I don't know your situation, so I may be totally off-base, but there are SO MANY things going on in the week before you wedding that doing all of the food and cake yourself might really overwhelm you. Maybe .. I dunno .. but I got way stressed before my first just putting custom labels on water bottles. LOL...

Yeah, I agreed to get a caterer after looking up prices and it won't be that bad. Same with the cake. I don't want to have to increase our budget just to have a "wedding place" that has the tables and chairs and their own list of caterers we can choose from for only 4 hours. He kind of wants to pay someone to do everything for us and we don't have the money to do that.

AWESOME! I added myself. I'll try to remember to add my measurements when I get home (@ work right now).

I'm getting married October 20, 2012 and I still haven't shopped for my wedding dress because I need/want to lose more weight. I've decided that I have to go by early December regardless of my weight though.

Thanks for letting me take part!
  • I'd love to join!! Tried adding my name but it wasn't working or so it seems..

Let me know if it worked!

I'm in! My FI and I are recently engaged and haven't officially picked a date yet (because we haven't secured a venue yet) but we are trying to have our wedding on 4/29/12, or something like that. :) So super excited that we are getting married, and happy to find other ladies who are also getting married soon!

Congrats to you all, and lets do this! :glasses:

YOU GUYS. I found my dress. It was a very exciting Saturday for me! I've tried on at least 40 different wedding dresses, four different trips to bridal salons - and it was actually a fluke that I tried this dress at all. I'm not buying it yet - I have until April to get to as close to goal as possible, and then (temporary) maintenance after I've had it altered will have to happen. I can only assume you guys want to see it, and I am DYING to share!!!!

I just signed up! Our date is set for Oct 13 2012, since it's still so far I haven't started looking for dresses yet. But I've just reserved the church, officiant, and reception venue, this week I'll be mailing out the deposits!

Part of the reason I've got that all set up so early is because I think the city is fairly popular for weddings, it's in Québec City, Canada. I'll be getting married in the historic part of the city (Vieux-Québec), all the old stone architecture and pedestrian streets are so beautiful, it's like going to Europe without crossing the ocean haha. The main reason though is because we don't live there, and want to make as few wedding-related trips there as possible (we live two provinces over, in Nova Scotia). In July we went there to visit my fiance's family, so instead of coming back in a few months to do wedding planning, I figured I'd try to visit places and get venue stuff out of the way while we were there. So now I should be good until the next time we go to visit people!

Other than getting those booked, I'm not really efficient haha. People keep asking me about wedding colours or ideas for bridesmaids dresses, and I'm just like "Errrr.....no idea...."

I'm in again! It seems like I relapse once a month (period related?), so new motivation is just what I need!
  • I'm in again,
at least this time I'm not going on holiday, and the schools go back next week, so will be able to go back to the gym.

my dress pic is in my profile ( not sure how to add a pic to a post on here, and dont want OH to see me dress)

Went to see the Registary people last week, and booked them, and payed them, so all have to do now is buy suits, bridesmaids dresses and accessories, and photographer. (not getting married til 11th Aug 2012)
