Or, are you just starting out and remembering how much fun you had biking when you were a kid? However you choose to push your pedal, you are welcome on this thread.
There's no set challenge across participants - this is a mixed-ability / mixed-experience / everyone welcome group. Just pick your own target that you want to achieve this month, post that when you join the thread, and post updates throughout the month as you're working towards your target.

Did the Prudential RideLondon 100 today.
Great event and my first closed roads event - what a difference no cars makes! Although it feels weird to bomb through red lights, use both sides of the road and go around roundabouts the wrong way.
Some of the riding was a bit worrying and saw some nasty crashes but a really friendly atmosphere made it a lot of fun.
Set a new PR for 100 miles which I'm delighted with after my recent spate of injuries.
Biggest win is that I've raised over £1,500 for a children's cancer charity through the amazing generosity of many people.

Very nice going Sijomial. All that money going to a good cause. Fantastic. You sure mended very quickly. I'm in the US, but In May I had 10 days in Scotland. I rented a car for a week's tour of the Highlands. Driving in the opposite side of the road, was really very easy. Just follow the 2 or 3 cars ahead of you and do what they do. I can only imagine how much fun it would be like to bike my way through London with no other vehicles on the road. Nice going.

I'm staying with my "program" while the good weather is here. I'm spoiled living in the West coast USA. I can ride pretty much year round, but I start my rides at 6:30 to 7 AM, and it gets a little bit nippy in December and January, but for now, my plan is to ride 5 days per week and go to the gym the other two days.

49 miles for the week, 184 miles so far for August.
Slightly more volume last week but taking it steady as knee not progressing as fast as I would like. Physio brought me down to earth with comment that most people are just coming off crutches 3 weeks after my kind of injury. Guess I should be happy but find physical restrictions really get on my nerves and makes me impatient to get back to normal.
74 miles for the week, 258 for August.
Won't cycle much this week as concentrating on gym strength training/rehab for my knee.1 -
I know how you feel Sijomial. I have issues where my right knee will swell up out of nowhere every 2 or 3 weeks, sometimes the size of a softball. It doesn't bother me much but people have asked me why am I limping? If they hadn't said anything, I probably wouldn't have noticed.
I did have it checked over a year ago and the Doc took X-rays and said I had some arthritis in my knee and have me 3 shots over 3 visits. Didn't do a thing, but on a follow up, he said I might be a candidate for knee replacement. No way. If I take 2 or 3 Ibuprofen, the swelling goes down and I am set to go for another couple of weeks.
Very important for me to start the week with a bike ride. Sets me up for the week to come and gets my 5 for 7 days off to a good start. 22.5 miles this morning. Its a relatively flat ride around the bay, but that wind was hollowing this morning.1 -
The collar bone and cracked rib are so slow to heal. I'm getting old and things don't heal as fast either. It was 4 weeks last Sunday since my fall and I did manage to get on my trainer 4 times last week so I'm really happy about that. I'm supposed to go to Whistler mid September with my son but I'm waiting to see what my xrays say next Monday before I cancel or go for it. I also have a ride through Yellowstone National Park in October that's 60 road miles so at a minimum I need some saddle time to get ready for that.

Easy week to recover and give my injuries some healing time. Just a couple of rides outdoors on my hybrid and a couple of indoor training sessions.
49 miles for the week, 184 miles so far for August.
Slightly more volume last week but taking it steady as knee not progressing as fast as I would like. Physio brought me down to earth with comment that most people are just coming off crutches 3 weeks after my kind of injury. Guess I should be happy but find physical restrictions really get on my nerves and makes me impatient to get back to normal.

Won't cycle much this week as concentrating on gym strength training/rehab for my knee.
Just a couple of "proper" rides this week, 79 miles for the week, 338 for August.
Thought knee was coming along nicely with pain and swelling reducing and weights in the gym doing my rehab work increasing rapidly - right up to the point I over-extended my knee when stopping on a steep camber and felt like I had ripped the healing ligament apart again, ouch, ouch, ouch.
Guess the fibres are still very delicate as they repair and knit together.0 -
