It has begun!
Great event and my first closed roads event - what a difference no cars makes! Although it feels weird to bomb through red lights, use both sides of the road and go around roundabouts the wrong way.
Some of the riding was a bit worrying and saw some nasty crashes but a really friendly atmosphere made it a lot of fun.
Set a new PR for 100 miles which I'm delighted with after my recent spate of injuries.
Biggest win is that I've raised over £1,500 for a children's cancer charity through the amazing generosity of many people.

I'm staying with my "program" while the good weather is here. I'm spoiled living in the West coast USA. I can ride pretty much year round, but I start my rides at 6:30 to 7 AM, and it gets a little bit nippy in December and January, but for now, my plan is to ride 5 days per week and go to the gym the other two days.

Not sure I'm mended as I'm feeling pretty broken today!
Injured hand and knee are not happy with me but that's OK, they will heal over time and I can ease up for a while to give them an opportunity to heal.

Slightly more volume last week but taking it steady as knee not progressing as fast as I would like. Physio brought me down to earth with comment that most people are just coming off crutches 3 weeks after my kind of injury. Guess I should be happy but find physical restrictions really get on my nerves and makes me impatient to get back to normal.
74 miles for the week, 258 for August.
Won't cycle much this week as concentrating on gym strength training/rehab for my knee.
I did have it checked over a year ago and the Doc took X-rays and said I had some arthritis in my knee and have me 3 shots over 3 visits. Didn't do a thing, but on a follow up, he said I might be a candidate for knee replacement. No way. If I take 2 or 3 Ibuprofen, the swelling goes down and I am set to go for another couple of weeks.
Very important for me to start the week with a bike ride. Sets me up for the week to come and gets my 5 for 7 days off to a good start. 22.5 miles this morning. Its a relatively flat ride around the bay, but that wind was hollowing this morning.

Just a couple of "proper" rides this week, 79 miles for the week, 338 for August.
Thought knee was coming along nicely with pain and swelling reducing and weights in the gym doing my rehab work increasing rapidly - right up to the point I over-extended my knee when stopping on a steep camber and felt like I had ripped the healing ligament apart again, ouch, ouch, ouch.
Guess the fibres are still very delicate as they repair and knit together.
