Dinner at Benedict's in Norwich. We ordered from the 2 course a la carte menu
https://www.restaurantbenedicts.com/menu
There were 3 complimentary amuse bouches relying mainly on seafood mousses (clam, oyster and smoked trout) and micro greens. Good sourdough came with butter sprinkled with shortbread crumb. I ordered the chicken and leek terrine which had a stunning chervil sauce followed by rare steak which came with some pan fried hen of the woods, roast celeriac, a few sauteed snow peas, an unidentified astringent green sauteed in butter and beautifully strong truffle mousse.

There were a few words of praise by Jay Rayner of the Manchester Guardian for Japanese Shiki in the last few lines of his scathing review of Roger Hickman's fine dining restaurant in Norwich.

Shiki also happened to be across the street from our hotel. The bento box contained the best tempura I have ever eaten. Sushi rice temperature was spot on too. I got so excited I took a bite out of the two tempura starters before remembering to photograph them.

Lunch at Farmyard in Norwich. I had pan fried plaice with caviar, fennel slaw, charred baby gem and a somewhat bland sauce I couldn't identify. The side of fried courgettes were swimming in oily salsa verde but pretty tasty. We stopped to share a dessert in Britons Arms on the way back to the hotel. It was hazelnut and raspberry meringue roulade.

Your cross cut fries that I’ve seen you plate quite regularly - are they a commercial item or is there some fiendish gadget that you use to cut them? #envy!0 -
I made none of this, but it will be two and a half meals. Vegetable samosas, lentil soup, one paratha, rice, and this raw very light slaw with among other things greens of some sort and cabbage. The sauce is a tomato chutney. I bought it from a Kenyan food stand at farmers market.
One of the samosas was lunch part one, I'll eat the other in a little bit along with the greens and some soup, and the rest will be dinner.2 -
Dinner party at my place.
Steamed artichoke with hollandaise.
Charcuterie course of homemade chicken liver pate, ryvita and lingonberry preserve made by one of the guests'relatives in Sweden, home cured duck prosciutto with blueberries, lomo de bonito brought from a friend who lives in Spain drizzled with olive oil and topped with roasted almond flakes.
Main was maccaroni with vodka sauce. The coeliac guest brought gluten free pasta.
Dessert was pina colada sorbet with coconut macaroons made from the leftover egg whites generated by hollandaise sauce in the starter. Garnish of shredded kaffir lime leaf and toasted shredded coconut.
