I wish blueberries and strawberries weren't so expensive. I LOVE putting them in my oatmeal.
Today, I put cinnamon, banana, and 1 TB of PB. OMG! WOW! It was soooo good!!! I'm loving oatmeal more and more. And the funny thing is that I HATED it as a kid!0 -
I put in PB too. Of course I could randomly find things to add PB to....
With the PB, sometimes I add just a teaspoon of honey or lite syrup.0 -
I made the steel cut oats...They were yummy. A little crunchy in taste. Even after cooking for more than 20 minutes. Is that there regular texture after being cooked?0

I do the same thing. I buy oats in the bulk bin when they are on sale. Usually 3# for $1.
My receipe
1/3 C Rolled Oats
2T Raisins
1/8t Pumpkin Pie Spice
Put in a large bowl with 2/3 C water and microwave for 3 minutes (make sure the bowl is large enough it makes an awful mess if it boils over.
Add 1 packet splenda and a little cold water.
Yum!!!0 -

I love the pumpkin idea with the oameal.
I cut up apples and spices and pour boiling water and Sugar Free syrup. Then I put it in those little Glad containers and chill. I eat it before my workouts. I pretend it apple pie.0 -
I have used cooked oatmeal in protein shakes! Just blend it and it really sticks with you!
Hey Corithian, keep some frozen berries on hand for your 'meal. They're a lot cheaper than the fresh.
I also buy my fresh berrys at Costco.0 -

These are some kickin' oatmeal ideas! :drinker: I have in the past (kind of forgot about it) put about 1/4 cup frozen berries (the triple berry blend from Costco) in the fridge the night before to thaw and nuked some oatmeal in the a.m., added the berries and cinnamon and a packet of splenda. I haven't been using Splenda much lately, so I would probably have it with out and I always add a splash of 1/2 & 1/2. I can't wait to try some of these variations! Thanks for all the great ideas.0

You can put some raw oatmeal in a smoothie for thickening to it. Here's a good smoothie that we invented....add amounts to taste, cause we were in a competition so we didn't measure, we did it by taste.
Blueberries
Strawberries
Apples
Plain FF Yogurt
Ice
Pomegranate Juice
Pkg Instant oatmeal
Honey -to sweeten
Flax seeds
Talk about a kick butt healthy smoothy, and very filling. AND another way to use oatmeal!
(by the way, we won the competition):happy:0 -
