Well done, @MelodiousMermaid . Motivation comes and goes, but discipline has got me on my feet many times. And I have learned this - I am always glad I did the workout when I am done.
What @alteredsteve175 said. As I think they say, it's less about motivation and more about developing habits, so well done. It's not about wanting to do it as much as it is about doing it, right?8 -
Now that my husband's Dr. refuses to do his hip replacement until he looses 25 lbs, I finally have a gym buddy. He's even listening to me when I make suggestions on what he should and should not eat. We had a very nice chicken, broccoli and carrot with a little shredded cheddar cheese dinner last night. He actually liked it. Now if I can just get him to switch from drinking soda to water. So my NSV is being able to help my husband with his life-style change.34

Yesterday, I had a couple of these iced, spiced buns which I usually only eat when I’m “messing up”. But I’ve been craving them for days, so I made room in my calorie goals and fit them in. They were delicious, the rest of the day went perfectly, and I woke up this morning feeling great, not sick or bloated. I love being able to eat whatever I want, so long as it fits in my calories.33

I started a cycle challenge to raise money for cancer research. I did some training in August at had to break it down to 3-4 mile stretches usually broken up with 8 hours rest or at least a greasy breakfast. This weekend I took a 27 miles ride to the coast and back which had some silly hills in it in less than 2 hours.22

Fitting into a chair with arms that has previously left welts on the sides of my legs! I fit comfortably and this was last week so am well pleased! Apparently chairs don't shrink when we aren't looking after all! What a revelation!19

Call from work at 1230 am so no more than 90 minutes of sleep. In the past, working all day after that would have included a lot of snacking for energy, mostly junk. Got through the day on calorie budget.
Ordered pants in a size I haven't worn for 15 years. Don't expect them to fit yet, but they will soon.16 -
I moved my weight lifting belt to the fifth hole. I've never used the fifth hole before! My weight isn't changing much, but my body composition has changed a lot in the last couple of months!19

I've had two:
Taking a bite of a cookie and realizing it wasnt worth it, so discarded it.
I hike a lot, and I used to have to take a ton of breaks, ESPECIALLY going up hill. Now, I cruise uphill with almost no problems and no breaks and can cruise through 4-6 miles with little to no breaks and can do as much as 8 miles with breaks. Working my way up to double digit miles!14 -
These are so great! I love reading your NSVs. I pull this thread every morning for inspiration. So oatmeal for breakfast instead of stopping for a sandwich.17

Buttoned up size 38 blue jeans for the first time in 3 years! Soon they might even be comfortable. . .24

Off topic a little but somewhat related because a lot of people losing weight have such trouble buying and spending money on clothes throughout their journey.
I noticed a few stores have new “guaranteed liberty sizing” which is awesome! You buy the size you are now and they guarantee free replacements when you go down in size with your new sizes for a whole year. You can exchange throughout the year a few times. This is such an awesome idea for those who are losing weight!26 -

I am very happy for your NSV, but need some education. Earlier this year I had two hip replacements and I know at that time my weight was pushing 300 lbs. However, that was never in any conversation as a condition of either surgery! It might have come up as an off-shoot of them as a way to enhance their success post-op, which I have managed to do so far 🤞, but again I don't remember surgeon talking about it. Help me understand surgeon's refusal, a weight threshold even higher than mine was? Wishing your husband and you well moving ahead!

I joined a gym with two girlfriends last winter. We were all going through personal traumas at the time and used working out as a therapeutic group activity. Well in the last couple of months our schedules have started to fall out of sync and we find we can't go together so often anymore. And in fact the other two have—at least for the moment—all but stopped going, but I'm still hanging in there, on my own three-day-per-week schedule. It's not quite as much fun but it's pretty well built in as part of my routine these days.33

When I had mine, there was discussion about it. Especially if you have sleep apnea, anesthesia can be difficult and risky. The risk of infections, pneumonia, and blood clots go up with higher weight. I had mine at over 260lbs (at age 35) three years ago. My doctor says I'm the "poster child for hip replacements," but is EXTREMELY happy that I've trimmed down, as it will help the joint last longer.4 -
