Off topic a little but somewhat related because a lot of people losing weight have such trouble buying and spending money on clothes throughout their journey.
I noticed a few stores have new “guaranteed liberty sizing” which is awesome! You buy the size you are now and they guarantee free replacements when you go down in size with your new sizes for a whole year. You can exchange throughout the year a few times. This is such an awesome idea for those who are losing weight!26 -

He's even listening to me when I make suggestions on what he should and should not eat. We had a very nice chicken, broccoli and carrot with a little shredded cheddar cheese dinner last night. He actually liked it. Now if I can just get him to switch from drinking soda to water. So my NSV is being able to help my husband with his life-style change.
I am very happy for your NSV, but need some education. Earlier this year I had two hip replacements and I know at that time my weight was pushing 300 lbs. However, that was never in any conversation as a condition of either surgery! It might have come up as an off-shoot of them as a way to enhance their success post-op, which I have managed to do so far 🤞, but again I don't remember surgeon talking about it. Help me understand surgeon's refusal, a weight threshold even higher than mine was? Wishing your husband and you well moving ahead!

I joined a gym with two girlfriends last winter. We were all going through personal traumas at the time and used working out as a therapeutic group activity. Well in the last couple of months our schedules have started to fall out of sync and we find we can't go together so often anymore. And in fact the other two have—at least for the moment—all but stopped going, but I'm still hanging in there, on my own three-day-per-week schedule. It's not quite as much fun but it's pretty well built in as part of my routine these days.33

When I had mine, there was discussion about it. Especially if you have sleep apnea, anesthesia can be difficult and risky. The risk of infections, pneumonia, and blood clots go up with higher weight. I had mine at over 260lbs (at age 35) three years ago. My doctor says I'm the "poster child for hip replacements," but is EXTREMELY happy that I've trimmed down, as it will help the joint last longer.4 -

@NewBetterBest18 I am glad your husband is making changes with you! Isn't it great when you aren't alone?
I wanted to question why you would dissuade him from drinking diet soda? It has 0-5 calories. Diet soda has been a helpful tool in helping me keep my lifestyle change. I do not think I could maintain (for life) a diet without soda, I just enjoy the taste.2 -

I won't see my surgeon again (barring the unforseen) until next March which will be the approximate one year mark of both my surgeries. I suspect, if I stay on my current course that I might elicit the same reaction as you got from your's. When I saw my primary physician in May for a check-up which also served as a follow-up of my second surgery a month before, I weighed 281 lbs. I am convinced I was that much or more at the time of both operations. My size and weight was talked about so far as sleep apnea AFTER my first hip replacement as a suggestion to get tested for it. It wasn't brought up again after the second. I brought it up at that May Dr. visit and she wrote up an order for a sleep study. Here's what happened: As May became June and I got through my PT and transitioned into a more regular and consistent exersise routines, I decided to postpone setting up the test in order to give myself a chance to positvely affect the outcome. As my exercise regimens continued thru the summer, I began to see my sleep patterns change for the better, to the point where I am no longer considering doing the test. This might be to the chagrin of my doctor, I'll deal with that in November. It doesn't hurt that, with my newfound mobility, exercise and attention to diet I've lost over thirty pounds since May. So, in no way will I minimize weight as issue before, during or after hip replacements.8 -
Most recent NSV not being recognized by a client I had not seen in 6 months, due to weight loss - they didn’t recognize me at the door, even though they were expecting me. Also, I’ve worn out and lost several swimsuit sizes from size 20/22 in December 2018 to size 12 (although it does have a little stretch) today!!17

Despite an extremely stressful family situation involving family members I haven’t seen or heard from in several years, I underate last week and overate this week. They zero out.
After one passed away, I stayed to make sure the funeral home came, and did the paperwork with the hospice nurse. I got home at 5 am and pulled out a half pound of chocolate that’s been in the freezer since May. I ate five pieces and put the rest in the trash. I no longer need it. It’s lost its hold on me.
I’ve had very little sleep in the past ten days, and irregular fast food meals, but because I’m skipping so many meals and not snacking, even on the overeating day’s, I’m staying acceptably close to maintenance under the circumstances.
And instead of turning to food as anything other than necessary fuel, I’m taking long early morning walks, runs, and yoga classes to clear my head for a bit.
That wonderful trainer I brag about here so much? To distract us, she arranged a last minute circuit training session for me and my daughters, who have come in from overseas and the other side of the country. And spent an hour making us sweat and laugh and yelling at us how wonderful we are.
I am returning to my usual eating habits today. They are all nuts and they may make me crazy, but they don’t own me anymore.

I could barely get this belt on last April... now see how far it is pulled and my shorts are still loose. When tightened all the way it goes to the 2nd belt loop back. Time for a new belt AND shorts

Last night I calculated my maintenance kcal based on the data I have accumulated in the past year. With the muscle I've put on and how active I am now, my maintenance is up from ~1900/day to ~2150/day. Anyone who has ever restricted calories knows that 250 kcal is a HUGE deal.24

I was starting to feel glum because for past couple of weeks, I haven't been able to see much physical change/improvement. But, last night & this morning two different people spontaneously commented on how they "could really see how much weight I've lost". (I didn't mind hearing it from them as both were respectful in how they said it, & both are people I like). So, I'm feeling better that the process is still working & feeling recommitted to staying strong.22

A guy at the gym looked at my butt....and the NSV is that I thought "well yeah, it's looking good", rather than "I swear it used to be more perky"24

Doctor was very pleased today with my 36 pound weight loss and resulting change in blood pressure. My NSV is that my blood pressure has gone from 155/95 to 106/68. My goal was under 120/80, so I am happy, also.40

down 42 pounds and completely off of my diabetes medication
This gives me profound hope and belief that I can avoid having to go on diabetes medication! I am down just over 30 lbs since last check-up in May and continue to exercise and mind my diet better than I have in a long time, especially since having hip replacements early this year. Congratulations and thank you!19 -
We ordered team gear for a skating team I’m on last night and all the tops I ordered were a size Medium. I’ve never been a medium since I was in my early teens so it was awesome.23

Been a difficult year: long illness, less exercise during our winter, small weight gain due to that (but it's going again). Looking back at these pics though, I'm reminded of why I'm trying to get fit: it might not feel like things are changing, but they ARE. One day you look back and you're able to do things you just couldn't do a year ago.
A small victory.

I’m sorry for your loss. Life threw you a curveball and you knocked it out of the park...
This NSV was really inspiring, I feel like I have my new lifestyle down but worry that it will all fall apart under stress. You give me hope! And what a wonderful trainer.12 -
I have never really been athletic throughout my years. The past 3 years I have continuously gone to the gym. Today, I was able to touch my toes during stretching (both legs straight in front while stretching forward). I have never been able to do that as long as I can remember!24

I benched more than my body weight today for the first time!!!
181.9 lb bench at 178.4 BW.30
