Today I was able to say no thank you to going out to eat for a social occasion. Usually I would have gone ahead and indulged but it wasn’t even a struggle. I feel like I’ve really improved my appetite control/correction.18

Today I am wearing a pair of navy pants that I have not been able to get zipped for about 2 years. I am definitely on my way back DOWN!

Increased the incline on my hour treadmill walk. Went from 3 to 4 incline and kept my 3 mph pace. DEFINITELY noticed a difference in difficulty but it felt so good to push myself again. My walks had started to become to “easy”31

We are supposed to get crappy weather tonight and into tomorrow. Instead of skipping the gym, like I considered, I am going to just drive slow and take it easy getting there. It's only like a mile, and the weather is supposed to stay above freezing till tomorrow. So while it will be wet, I likely won't be dealing with any ice. No excuses!
I'm not sure if I want to run intervals on the treadmill or go on the bike and read a book. I love running and can go forever outside. When it gets cold I lose the motivation to run outdoors. My dogs are my running buddies. I have one little female, sweet as can be, and I have one, rather large, leash reactive male. He goes absolutely bonkers, barking and snarling, trying to get to other dogs or very occassionally men when he sees them on our run. I can manage him well, and take precautions, and we've got a system that has not failed us in his almost 7 years. No bite record for my boy! I don't think he would bite but I'm not taking any risks.
So, when cold comes and I have to worry about ice in addition to his antics, it makes me hesitate to take him out. I can still run with my other dog but I feel so guilty leaving him home. So, I take them to a secure, fenced area for exercise and then run on my own at the gym.
This was a lot longer than I wanted it to be. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.23 -
I’m down visiting my parents with the 3 kids for the entire next week. Husband drove us down Friday and left today to work M-W before coming back down for the holiday.
I have been under goal every day but 1 so far and that’s a miracle! Plus the “over” day wasn’t even up to maintenance
It’s the boredom that gets me don’t get me wrong, I worked hard to clean my house before we left for 10days so it’s not a mess when we get home, I’m still homeschooling the kids and preparing meals. But it’s not *my* house so when I’m not doing those things I’m....free.
It’s wonderful.
It’s also hard to not revert to childhood boredom eating habits in my childhood home. I will stay strong!!
YES! The childhood boredom eating habits are so bad!!
Everytime I go to my mom's, I want to raid the cupboard and eat everything lmao8 -
This morning, I felt a stinging sensation under my pinky toe. I thought I might have stepped on something. I sat down and crossed my leg onto my lap then lifted my foot a bit more so could look at it. It was a dry area that had cracked. I put some aquaphor on it and then realized - holy crap, I just had enough flexibility to do that! It's been a long time since I could do that.42

What kind of dogs? Just wondering which are good to jog with but cuddle too. I'm thinking about getting one but going to foster from CARL 1st.3 -
The inches I've lost in my butt and hips have made me sit further back in the car. I noticed the other day that where my knees were digging into the glove compartment before, now I've got at least two inches of extra space!26

My reactive male is a cattle dog/labrador/border collie mix.
He is so sweet and SO affectionate, just has issues with meeting new people or new dogs in public. At home he's usually okay, and if he has time to warm up or he's not on a leash he makes friends just fine.
His issues are directly my fault. He was my first dog and I did not take the time to socialize him properly. I thought taking him to meet all of my friends' dogs was enough and it most certainly is not. Had I known what I was doing or listened to advice (stupid know it all teenager at the time), I have no doubt he could have been THE perfect dog. He can run forever and LOVES it.
My smaller female is a mini Australian shepherd and she is perfect in every way. I took the time with her to get her into all of the puppy play times I could at our local Petco to socialize her, and had her in obedience classes as well. She already knew all of the commands before the class started but I wanted her to be able to obey under distraction with other dogs around. She is really shy at first with strangers, but that's okay. She's not aggressive, just timid and doesn't want to be touched (unless you have food, of course.) Her recall is absolutely perfect. I can call her back from chasing cats or squirrels instantly. She puts on the brakes and comes right back. I never have her on a leash, except where it is required. I can take her into dog friendly stores, anywhere public, no issues. She's my perfect little kayak buddy. She loves to run. Once, her leash broke somewhere along our running route and I didn't realize. She never left her spot, right behind my heel. And she is a cuddle fiend. All she wants is love, all the time.

@Jamie2663 this happened to me the other day too. At first I was offended, like, I thought we were better friends and it hadn’t been but a year, but then I realized it was because I look so much different. 🤦🏻♀️19

I attended a trade show after changing my way of eating and losing my 50 pounds back in 2014-2015 and I had our 16 year old daughter with me for the first time. When we went to pick up our vendor packets the guy said it was good to see us and he remembered seeing my father there a couple years earlier. I was 65 at the time and my father had pasted in 1993. So due to walking unaided and having a 16 year old daughter with me for the first time he assumed I was the son of the man he saw two years before. When my health slide stopped and started to improve it threw a lot of people off. The change was slow to me so I never notice the changes that others were seeing over a longer period.

Completed my walking/running goals for the month.
Walked 100 miles, ran 36 miles... and still have some month left. I'll probably end up running 42-45 miles for the month. Finished my C25K program this month and am well into week three of the 5k-to-10K program.
All that and I remain injury free.20 -
These numbers came up on my health app on my phone. It's really telling that my steps went from less than 5k a day to more than 10K.

I always wait until the Opening Season bumper cars period gets out of everyone's system before engaging in winter driving myself, but I have PTSD like that lol. Stay safe!
You have my empathy. Soft basket muzzle FTW when it comes to my leash reactive pups, which is a feature and not a bug by the time I get my hands on them in the breeds I love so much am too dumb to quit them. My favorite is the Baskerville ultra if fitted correctly in the "a little large in muzzle circumference so can open mouth to running panting levels and chew/drink, even pick up a stick if a clever dog" style.
So many in the US are afraid of their dog being labeled as 'aggressive' if their leash reactive pup wore a muzzle out in public, but doing so actually changes other peoples behavior and they tend to give you wide berth if you buy a color contrasting one that can be seen from a distance - I human psychology! Plus when using one our non-verbal stress cues that can stress out our dog(s) as well disappear because we relax, knowing our dog can't bite, which in turn actually relaxes our dog(s). Win-win, if you ask me. And they figure out pretty quick that they can't bite wearing one so frequently the fear based preemptive aggression towards other people/dogs lessens or disappears altogether, depending on the dog and behavioral mod program and training level undertaken in conjunction with muzzle conditioning.
I wish we as a society were more like Europe when it came to properly muzzled dog general public acceptance and use. Well, that, and flexi leashes were outlawed and leash laws were actually enforced but them are fightin' words...6 -

What kind of dogs? Just wondering which are good to jog with but cuddle too. I'm thinking about getting one but going to foster from CARL 1st.
Good jogging dogs come in all breeds and sizes. Generally speaking, the brachycephalic (smoosh faced/short snouted) breeds are not good candidates because they can't properly breathe/frequently have respiratory system abnormalities. Herding breeds can be problematic if they come to you with herding issues like, say, trying to indiscriminately head or heel anything and everything in motion (including ducks trying to pass, bicycles, children, *you*).
The size/weight of the dog comes into consideration because the larger and heavier the dog, the easier to overpower you. I've been yanked off my feet by a dog weighing as little as approx 45 lbs. when I was ~190 lbs. because we were in motion, I was off balance, and the footing was hard scrabble when the leash snapped taunt against the dog's burst of forward speed greater than my own. I personally prefer 55 lbs. or less, but I have a friend who jogs more with his dog than I ever have with mine and his weighs over 100 lbs. to his 150-160 lbs body weight but that dog is truly a gentle giant. About the only other real consideration is to not improperly jog/run a dog that is still growing as far as bone/joint maturity and abnormal stress on them.
May you have a "foster fail" (trust me, it's a good thing! Google it if you have to...).

Two new NSV's:
1. One of my cats only likes to be held when it's cold. Today she requested her first cuddle of the season, but after a minute of squirming around, jumped down and left. Finally dawned on me, my cats' "favorite fat roll" (aka, the uppermost abdominal bit) is now gone and she couldn't find a way to perch. I reassured her, hopefully soon I can offer her a proper lap instead!
2. That experience made me realize, I forgot to mention that I finally lost enough padding to feel the cold again, which is a good thing in my book! I've spent the last four years being perpetually overheated and uncomfortable, even in the winter. I've always loved the cozy feeling of sweaters and layers, so I was delighted to feel chilly enough that I could put on a long sleeved t-shirt without roasting. Here's looking forward to a cardigan in my near future!21 -
Two things from the gym today. I did skull crushers for the first time successfully today, and a fellow gym member asked about how I work my shoulders - that felt great!22

After months of walking on the treadmill, at increasing speed and incline, I jogged for 10 minutes non stop today. I was sure I wouldn't last more than 5 minutes, maybe only 2 or 3 minutes even, it's nice to be wrong.35

My trainer said my form for squats is perfect now. They're also way easier. We're adding weight now.
Also this is a semi scale victory but today's five week prediction showed a number under 200 pounds, and while I know its inaccurate as heck, still! Onederland is in sight! Back at 270 pounds it felt impossible . I've come so far and accomplished so much this year for me and my health.
I'm finally, slowly, starting to feel a bit proud of me.63 -
@Terytha Way to go on the squats! I cannot wait for the 5 week prediction to show Onderland! While I know it's not accurate, it is still nice to see the possibility of it! I started late March first of April at 288. and have lost 63lbs so far, so I understand when you say it feels impossible. BUT every day and every week we get a little closer!! Have a great night!! You are doing great!!!15

I actually have a neck and can see bones. It is so strange to me. The other one is how much more efficient my heart has become. When I started doing the elliptical my heart rate was in the 160s. Now I can’t get it that high even working at an interval on 10 intensity.27
