Favorite Non-Dairy Milk

What is your favorite non-dairy milk? I prefer unsweetened because I’m watching my sugar, and I would like to keep the saturated fat down. I would mostly use it for smoothies and shakes. Thanks!

I like unsweetened Oatly and the Silk oat milk is pretty good too. If not oat milk, then Silk cashew milk.

Unsweetened almond milk. I don’t do smoothies, but I use it on cereals and oatmeal.

Another vote for unsweetened almond drink.

On cereal, and in cooking. I don’t think I’ve ever drunk an actual glass of it, but then I’d not drink a glass of milk either!

The same here, but I drink 2% Fair Life milk. Not because it is lactose free, but because it has more protein and last longer in my fridge. Honestly, I only use it when I (seldom) make oatmeal for breakfast.

I'm a tea drinker - I don't drink any kind of milk. On the rare occasions when I have cereal, I have yogurt with it.

I grew up on goat's milk, switched to cow's milk briefly as an adult, but when I was stationed in Okinawa in the 80s the milk tasted weird, and I never got back to cow's milk. I've tried various non-dairy milks, but they all ended up going bad before I finished them, so now I am a no-milk drinker.

When I need milk for a recipe I get it from a local dairy.

Milk always goes bad for me before I finish it too. I tend to make homemade cashew milk when I want some (normally for smoothies), although I've used it in some soups too.

Oat milk is my favorite, it's even good straight. Lower calorie I tried everything and cashew is my favorite for coffee.

I prefer soy milk for the protein. I usually buy unsweetened because some of the sweetened varieties are way too sweet for my taste. I really don't notice a significant difference in taste among brands of unsweetened soy milk, so I can't recommend a particular brand. I usually base my choice on price and/or expiration date.

We buy unsweetened original almond milk. Hiland (local/regional brand) or Friendly Farms from Aldi. Cheap and good for cooking, baking, smoothies, etc. I don't care for it much to just drink. I prefer dairy milk for that and have it occasionally (Hiland, Horizon or Fair Life usually).

We get unsweetened vanilla almond milk (Silk or Blue Diamond). My fiancé uses it for protein shakes and cereal. Depending what recipe I make, I use that or unsweet vanilla soy

Unsweetened fortified soy. Seriously, if there's no b12, d, or calcium you are just drinking sugar water with a tiny ammount of nut juice.

I enjoy Rice Dream Classic Original. I buy it at Walmart for under 2 dollars. There is an unsweetened kind in this brand.

It would only be sugar water if it was sweetened and it's pretty easy to find all kinds of unsweetened options (at least where I live).

Another vote for oat! I buy the unsweetened kind and it is thick and creamy! Plus I don't have to steal it from baby cows 🙌

I have all of these in my refrigerator right now and they tend to be the ones I buy. All of these are fortified as well.

Silk unsweetened soy milk (either regular or vanilla) -- Good for protein, tastes good, versatile.

Planet Oat extra creamy unsweetened oat milk -- I'm not really a fan of oat milk by itself but it is the best for tea and coffee. I also use this one in smoothies along with soy milk because of its nutritional benefits and because it has more calories than the other non-dairy milks.

So Delicious unsweetened coconut milk -- This is by far the best tasting coconut milk I've found. The other brands have an odd, kind of sweet taste to them, maybe from some additive they put in there. If you're looking for the creaminess of milk, coconut milk is the way to go. I mostly have this by itself, even as a healthy dessert sometimes, because it's that good. Their unsweetened coconut yogurt is also by far the best dairy-free yogurt on the market, although it is expensive. Of course this one is high in saturated fat, and doesn't have protein, so probably not good for your needs.

I've actually always hated dairy milk. I like cheese and yogurt, but milk has always grossed me out for some reason. So non-dairy milks are the only kinds I buy and I am happy there are so many options now. I'm not really a fan of the other nut milks, like almond, etc...I would rather have nuts themselves or nut butter.
