PastorVincent wrote: »So ran 7.2k this morning. Had toyed with the idea of doing 10 but I did the Parkrun portion a tad too fast, and by the time I'd stopped for my barcode scan - which took a few minutes due to a queue, I'd lost the drive to do the extra 3k. Given I'd done 7k yesterday, I wasn't that worried.
So the 7.2k was a park run? I kind of assumed without any good cause they were all 5ks... but then again you live in the future so maybe that only used to be true!
Bahaha no got there early so did 2.2k before Parkrun, got to the start line with about 1min to spare!5 -
I'm still in bed, have been listening to rain for hours. The trails are going to be a mess for my 5k and kids shorter races My transportation is leaving me after the kids are done. I'm gonna take an umbrella and a change of clothes because I'll be standing around before the race, and 5k to run/hike/crawl to get to the bus stop afterwards. Oh and get home, shower, and go back outside for an 2-hour event with work.
BUT the thing I'm excited about... Maybe no one will show up and my son & I can move up in the standings!!!!!!!!!!!17 -
Having serious motivational issues atm. Today was mean to be a long run (as I am drinking tonight). Eventually managed to get up and out on the basis that I would just do 5k but I was very close to not going. I think that I dont want to give the time to running that my ultimate goal of 39k a week would take.
Anyway, I walked twice during the 5k for no reason whatsoever 🤷♂️. Time ended up being a slowish 5k so I must have gone fairly quick when I was running.
I dont need hugs, I just like a moan, I blame Brexit.

Happy February Runner Friends! My goal for Feb is 45 miles or 72.42k. That will be 10 more than 2019 but I am retired this year! I hope everyone has a good Saturday!11
-
Happy February, everyone!
Hit my target of 105 miles last month, ending just short of 108.5 miles. Ramping up a bit in my marathon training (the race is May 3,) so this month's target is 129 miles. There is a scenario in my training plan where I'll actually run 144, but that's because February 29/March 1 is a weekend, so it depends on how my long run will fall and I want my target to be conservative if I have to move that long run to Sunday.
I'll also be running a half marathon in Central Park on the 23rd to see where my fitness is. And, as an added bonus to all this running, I dropped my body fat (estimate) from 17% to 14.2% over the month of January.
Happy running!12 -
@username301 We all have days where we aren't motivated. Vent away.
Today is my dad's 88th birthday. He's in good health at the moment. He has had serious heart issues, but the pace maker he got last year has really helped him keep going. He still farms and saws wood for their stoves, etc. He and my mom are amazing and never quit. For his birthday, he requested we go visit his grandson, so we can play with the great grandson. So, later today, that is where we are going. It's only a little over an hour away, but we don't make the trip very often. Schedules don't allow it. I hope to get in my short "long" run before we go. (This is a cut back week.)11 -
So glad February is here....not a fan of January! Yoga and gym today so I can run my "long" run haha tomorrow before the 'Niners win the SuperBowl. Have a great day y'all6
-
2-1 7k easy + yoga
February Total: 7k
February Goal: 140k
January Total: 161k
Cloudy, low 30s F and a little light wind from the south today. Started out slow, but felt good and ended up doing negative splits for each kilometer.
Next year when you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs
Run at least 4 5k races
Get a 5k PR
Average at least 138k per month, to meet my Run the Year pledge of 1,020 miles
Run the Year Team: Pavement Pounders7 -
I am behind on the thread again - SO FAR BEHIND
the plan calls for 10 miles today and that’s totally fine because sixteen last week .... i will do 18 next weekend when the kids are with their dad for a more extended period. I hope to find some new road runners today to replace the ones that just didn’t work last time. I am excited about this! Also my watch isn’t syncing and i have repaired it and still nothing. I’m hoping it will just take a little more time....6 -

@username301 - Why the goal of 39k/week? If it is too much time out of your day and you are worrying about other things that need your time, then unless there is a specific race or something that you need to run 39k/week then don't push it. Do what you can so you still enjoy it and it doesn't feel like an obligation. Also what do you love/like about running or if the answer to that right now, is nothing, then what is your favorite thing about running? When you are trying to get out to run next think about that to get you out the door.
@bearly63 - I will be rooting for the Niners too but I also love Patrick Mahomes. It should be a great game! At least I hope so. A better game than the Packers/Niners which was my dream game only the Packers didn't actually come to the game.
@quilteryoyo - Happy Birthday to your dad!7 -
2/1 - C25K week 4, day 2 complete
I ran a total of 16 minutes, my knees don't hurt, and I got to pet a super fluffy dog. I call that a good day!16 -
So many pages behind already. And it’s only the 1st. Lol.
Started the month with 11.12 miles. Went more than I was supposed to. But, felt good so why not right. Also was trying fig newtons as fuel instead of chews, and I think they work better for me. Also had a banana before I started. Trial and error. I’m getting there.
In addition, testing out the new shoes, which seem to be doing ok. I have Morton’s Neuroma ( doc and I just figured that out - classic symptoms) so have to go see a podiatrist. Oh joy.
For this run though the Neuroma didn’t feel so bad thankfully. At times it’s been downright painful.

7.8 miles of up and down hills this morning. Then Spartan training class finishing up with 100 burpees in 10 minutes. So tired!

@shanaber Good luck tomorrow!!! Enjoy it! I'm guessing you'll be home in time to watch the Super Bowl.
@katharmonic That's crazy! I imagine your body hurts, as I know I'd be sore after that. Get some rest!
@quilteryoyo Enjoy your trip!
I'm supposed to run 3 today and 13 tomorrow and it's supposed to be 77 sunny degrees tomorrow! Today is sunny and almost 70. Last weekend I got quite tanned after my run. It's hot out there already!6 -

@hamsterwheel6 - If you have any control over who you see try to find a podiatrist who is a runner or who treats runners. If they are not don't let them convince you that you shouldn't ever run... the goal is to get you to where you can run pain free not to stop running.
Thanks @LoveyChar - HM starts at 7:45am. I should be home in plenty of time before the game starts. DH wants to pick up a pizza from a place not too far from the race so he will order it before he comes to pick me up after the race and we will go get it. Hopefully it will be ready and we can head straight home from there.

Opened February with 4.8 miles and my very first trail run casualty. I let a mountain biker pass us (because duh) but the dog likes to chase mountain bikers. So I'm prepared as she takes off but then she loses sight of him and slows down. I was trying to grab the top loop on her leash to control her a bit more, she sees him again and takes off. This time I wasn't quite ready and there was lots of loose rock. I went down. Have a cut on my right palm, a bruise forming on my left knee (painful at that) and a scraped up right knee. My UA capris also have a hole in the right knee now. Photos on my instagram story. I can't post a link but same user name with _ between each word.15

Oh no! So annoying!
Now I'm stalking you... Haha. I'm Avidkeo.
I went out for a short run, intended to do 3 but did 5 due to a minor annoyance.
I do challenges on running heroes - just a chance to win prizes by running. This month there some plantronics up for grabs. I basically set and forget and it syncs from strava.
I checked this morning, and for some reason it stopped syncing on the 16th Jan. To be in for the Plantronics I need to run 20k total by this time tomorrow. I had done 10k before strava stopped syncing, so I need another 10k to be in to win. I was going to just let it go, but if I do 5k today and 5k tomorrow, then I'm in. So hence an annoyance that got me to run 5k.
I wore my new kayano 26s and I'm a bit unsure about them. They cushion my arch etc really well, but I feel a bit of tendon tiredness in that left leg. So will rotate them out tomorrow and see how it goes. If im not sure what the return policy is where I got them, but may go back. The guy who sold them to me was very new and had no idea about shoes for runners. I think i need the owner.
It may be difference between shoes, ALL my other shoes are 25s, and they have been perfect.8 -

Oh no, that’s awful. Hope it’s not too bad?0 -
4 pages behind already and it is only the 1st!!!! You crazy lot 🤣
After a month of annoyance in January I just want to get back to running and not shuffling like I have been for weeks. The target 191 miles including 50 brisk walking and an additional 143 miles on the bike. If I can let go of the fact I am over 100 miles behind my training plan and stop trying to make up for what I missed then I can do this and hopefully stop picking up niggles!!! I have two halves in Feb as part of the plan and cannot afford to miss more miles.
Feb started poorly. A couple of days of disorganised chaos, ended up driving to work when I was supposed to be WFH yesterday to fix someone's mistake which meant nobody was getting paid, and then I was apparently the only person in an office of 30 people who could go to London today for a careers con - send the Finance guy when we have 20+ sales people! Sat on my butt in the car for nearly 5 hours so will get out tomorrow for a proper run 😊
Really looking forward to your marathon @LoveyChar - show us how it's done!!!
Have a good run tomorrow @shanaber
Hopefully you mend quickly @RunsOnEspresso

Well Howdy Folks! It's good to be back. Week1,Day1 of recovery for 2020.
Did 17x walk(3min)/run(1min) intervals. Absolutely no pain. This is how running ought to feel like, right? Perfect weather for it too, 59F with 7mph wind. Feels soooooo good to be back doing something again. Have gained over 5lbs during these last couple months of little to no running.13 -

Haha, so there was low-average attendance today. It had stopped raining, and the mud wasn't as bad as expected. I got past a few people going through it, but my shoes weren't even that dirty. I'm sort of disappointed, actually.
Quick recap: I was happy with my effort level and got about the same results as last time, so it was hard but good. Kids did about the same as before, too, but son got passed close to finish line and was a little disappointed. I felt it was good for him, maybe I'm a mean mama, but sports is a good place to learn life lessons.8 -

Hope you're alright *Hugs*
I ran a good bit today near a guy with a dog, and was really impressed with how well the dog was doing, following commands to move over, staying right in front of his owner but not pulling him along. He definitely seemed used to running.1 -

Quite a successful run today! Total of 12 miles! My RTY tracker isn’t syncing now, though I did manage to fix my watch’s syncing problem.
The miles I ran inside were challenging but I felt stronger today and more focused. After that i did the usual weight routine.
Before everything i went to the running store by my house and got the mizuno wave inspires, which were the first real REAL running shoes I ever had. I forgot how comfortable they are! They had me try Hokas, ASICS gel kayano, new balance, and Mizunos. The mizunos were by far the most comfortable so that’s what I walked out with. Small problem. Mile 2 on the dreadmill and my ankle started hurting. “No problem, just new shoes,” I thought. Plus I slept weird and my hip hurt when I woke up so I couldn’t bear to credit the ankle pain to the shoes I just bought.
Finished in the gym and headed out to the trail. While it was still quite challenging, I felt great for the majority of the run, except my ankle never stopped hurting. I am an idiot so I kept going. Normally, I complain about how I struggle to run more than a few minutes outside before I stop but today, I was so sick of that. I decided that if I must walk, I’d structure those intervals instead of waiting until i feel like running. That’d force me to push myself a little more. For every two minutes of walking, I ran five. Some running intervals I felt great so kept going until I felt awful and then allowed myself three minutes of walking. I kept that routine for over seven miles and finished much faster and feeling much better today. Quickest pace was just over twelve and a half minutes. Not too bad considering all the walking. Worst pace was fourteen minutes. I’m not worried about that - the goal was to stay structured today.
I’ve decided to give the new shoes a couple more runs and if my ankle hurts again I’ll know it’s the shoes. Ankle doesn’t hurt at all now that I’m home and shoes are off so I’m thinking I see a shoe exchange in my future.9 -

Yay! Well done!
Hope you get your ankle figured out soon.

@runsonespresso - no falling ok, NO Falling! No repeat of the broken leg! Seriously I hope you are not too sore and that you heal quickly!
@scott6255 - It is great to see you back here and back running!
@avidkeo - can you do something to get the missed runs to sync from strata over to Running Heros? I have problems with Strava automatically syncing sometimes but I can manually tell it to sync and that usually works.
@polskagirl01 - I had to laugh that it wasn't muddy enough!
When I run with Hobbes he runs slightly in front of me or right at my side and being able to give him commands (right, left, with me, leave it, etc.) is essential. I also think when you run for a while with your pup they do get in tune with you. Sometimes he anticipates what he thinks I am going to do and gets it wrong but most of the time he is right on.
@Camaramandy648 - My runs aren't syncing to RTY either. I was going to try some things with the app to see if it would start working again.2 -
@PastorVincent i am currently figuring out my ankle by getting a pedicure hahahahaha
@shanaber I’m glad I’m not the only one! This is the first problem I’ve had with it!2 -
