Yes! Thank you. That's why I'm going to make sure to keep coming back here. Great place to keep the motivation going and push myself to succeed.CupcakeCrusoe wrote: »and I forgot to weigh the whole thing in grams. And now he's eaten some so my weighing wouldn't be accurate and
Oh, my OCD nightmare! One of the reasons I tend to shy away from making recipes while counting calories: always afraid it's not accurate enough.@bidingmytime I felt every word you said about the havoc on your OCD, I am exactly the same way, I have a spreadsheet for my daily weight that I also log on Libra lol, then I have my weekly measurements (waist, hips, arms, calves, etc.), then I have my Cal in, cal out, deficit table....I have been approaching this like a full time job. And it is! But my family and I deserve this!
@lbostic89 That's so awesome! Quite commendable. I need to do this, too. Especially the measurements. How do you accurately measure yourself in those areas? I feel like when I try to do it, I may be too high or too low and not in the proper spot (i.e. thighs is a tough one for me to figure out).
4 -
@bidingmytime I just chose to measure each area in my thickest spot where the most fat seems to lie, my husband helps me keep my measurements accurate and (I know this sounds awful) I actually have him keep dotting the area we measure with Sharpie ...only a small dot though above and below my measuring tape on my front, back, and sides, so we can put it in the same place every time. I only plan on doing it until I start seeing some real loss because I started exercising at the same time I started managing my calories and portions; so, it often doesn't show much of a change on the scale for me due to building muscle from my cardio and strength training. It's all a numbers game for me. If I can't see numbers moving here, I want to see them moving somewhere else and that keeps me going! It helps that hubby is doing this with me, too! (even though men have such an easier time losing weight, and that isn't even his goal; he just wants to be healthier and move more).5

I had a mixed day yesterday. We cooked steak at home for valentines so that was lower calorie than our usual Friday takeaway, and it was lovely getting tipsy on prosecco and talking politics.
But I probably had more prosecco than I tracked for, didn't track dessert and had a minor case of secret rating.
Ah well, c'est la vie. This stuff happens. I don't usually track on Saturday but I'll make an extra effort to make sensible choices today.
@lbostic89 I absolutely need to be tracking my measurements right now as the scales are wobbling about a lot but I swear I FEEL thinner!6 -
I want to thank whoever it was who posted in the january thread about plus sizes and regular sizes, I'm based UK and Australia and I get clothes online from USA but hadn't understood that plus sizes are different to regular sizes, after reading your post I looked into it properly and realised that a 16W in the plus sizes was bigger than an 18 in the regular sizes, rather than smaller, and I took a chance and ordered an 18 in the regular sizes, which fits better and I'm excited now to be in the regular sizes and have more choice of colours!!9

I’m really excited. I was really down because I wasn’t seeing movement on the scale. I knew I was losing inches. My size 18 clothes were getting loose. Then boom, another 2.4 lbs gone this morning 🙌🏽. 100 POUNDS #GoneForever❣️

I think I lost my period this month due to a rapid weight loss (wasn't really trying to go so fast), so I'm happy it goes a little slower this month, 1 lbs a week is still a good loss 🤷♀️
You guys are awesome! Keep up the good work!💕

Good morning everyone, did you survive Valentines Day, without going over your calorie intake? I did, which shocked me, because I planned on a free for all day, I even had 45 calories left over.10
-
@Candyn617 Our Valentines Day dinner included a Turtle Cheesecake dessert and it was heaven. It's funny how slowly both my hubby and I ate it (we shared the entire meal). Just sitting their eating it looking at each other gave us both ideas LOL! We promptly went home, got undressed and....fell asleep! LOL! We were in such a food coma! When we woke this morning we COULD! NOT! STOP! LAUGHING!13
-
@nightkit6 Thank Goodness Valentines Day fell on a Friday, my weigh in day! I planned on not logging dinner at all! Between the Escargot, Crab Masion, Crab Cakes, Seared Scallops, Bread and Turtle Cheesecake...I'm sure I stayed under LOL!10

So as I’m riding my bike today and enjoying the moment a question popped into my mind...”when did you start loving yourself?”
So that’s the question I’d like to pose to each of you lovely ladies🥰8 -
Today at kickboxing they had our five week testing, just to compare results from our first week. It felt good! I was able to go up on my push-ups, sit-ups, and we also had to run a mile, but I didn’t have a starting point for that. It was cold this morning, so the mile was rough, especially for someone who isn’t a runner 😂
@BrownSugar174, what a great question. I’m currently in the process of learning to love myself as I didn’t for a long, long time. It’s a daily process for me.13 -

Quick check in and will read back tomorrow. Heads up to my diary readers I will probably be over tonight. Hubby works 2nd shift so our Valentine's is tonight. Of course my momma plus cousin and her hubby are going. Can you tell we are super romantic lol? We are going to our fav buffet place since hubby loves it so much. Bbq, ribs, fried catfish, fried chicken, sides, and homemade ice cream. I've had 2 toasty pb crackers and am drooling right now. Been ages since I've add any significant overage so am going to log and savor the splurge.15
-
@pamiede you go girl!!! That’s so fantastic and inspirational!
@BrownSugar174 that’s an interesting question and I’m curious to hear everyone’s answers. I’ll be entering my 4th week tomorrow so don’t have an answer myself yet.
@bluffgirl67 you’ve got me drooling lol! Enjoy!
Today is my official weigh in day. I posted yesterday that I somehow gained 300grams (0.6 lbs) overnight from eating those salt and vinegar chips. Well I’m pretty certain today that was water weight as I’ve dropped a good amount this morning.
My stats:
OW: 101.3kg (223.3lbs) 26Jan20
1Feb: 99.1kg (218.4lbs)
CW: 96.5kg (211.8lbs)
This weeks loss is a total of 2kg (4.4lbs).
Goals for this coming week.
Well last week my goal was to concentrate on my sodium intake. I’ve been quite on top of that (except for the slip up with the chips on Valentine’s Day) so I think that’s contributed to my loss this week.
For this week I’ll be concentrating on water intake. I’m not drinking enough. Some days I’ll take in 1.2litres and other days I don’t even reach that. I don’t drink any other drinks (only just started on green tea yesterday with breakfast only). So definitely need to up my water intake. I’m thinking of drinking one cup every hour from the moment I wake. Hopefully reaching 2litres a day.9 -
@BrownSugar174 - When did I start loving myself? I remember when I was 28 or 29, and I was getting treatment for depression, taking Zoloft and was in cognitive behavioral therapy. I remember saying to myself, almost automatically, like so many time before, "I'm a bad person" and either the Zoloft or the therapy kicked in and turned off that tape and I said to myself, "No you're not. You are a really good person. A kind person. A thoughtful person. A person deserving of love." It was a revelation. And I've tried to maintain that perspective ever since. No matter what my weight.12

Go to bed by 10:30 on weeknights: 43% - Epic fail

Drink 140 oz of water a day: 100%
Log accurately every day: 93%- I had some pretzel sticks on the D/L after I completed my diary yesterday.
Get to Onederland!! - still working on that
My doctor took me off both high blood pressure and cholesterol medicine. I go back in 6 weeks to see how I am doing without medication.
Tomorrow is my 5K. Then I continue with training for a half later in the summer.
The scale has taken me on an adventure over the past two weeks. I keep losing and gaining the same 2 pounds.
But when I list my weight here, I can see progress, albeit slow progress. I believe my body is doing a little internal recompositioning right now and that I'll drop a bit more next week.
I want to make a special shoot out to @pamiede for her 100 pound milestone. That is huge!! I am so happy for you.12 -
@BrownSugar174 probably when a boyfriend of mine broke up with me because I was "too big." I was like F NO you don't get to pull that on me, I'm a human being not a pair of pants you try on. It's a great question. When did you?
@torihudson6 you are just crushing it. Well done.
@pamiede 🥂🥳 WAY TO GO!!
@bluffgirl67 enjoy! Sounds amazing!
@svm569 I like this incremental goal thing you're doing. It's fabulous.
@speyerj you're doing very well. Good luck at the 5k tomorrow!7 -

@CupcakeCrusoe I like that you ignored the scale knowing you were doing all the right things. Hope your anniversary was nice. Yes I lose better when I get enough sleep.
@aliciap0166 love that you are trying things you haven’t in a while. That is inspiring.
@bluffgirl67 glad you are feeling better. I hope you enjoy your night out. I am going out to celebrate my Mom’s bday with my sister and brother and sister-in-law.
@sharpdust you’ve got this.
@theleadmare I hope the move goes well.
@lbostic89 I was not good at dinners with my kids did sports. Glad you have a plan.
@speyerj I agree it is really about new habits and thanks for sending info that helps with that. I will check it out. Wow that is so great you are off the meds . Hope the next 6 weeks go well!
@MuttiNM I am hoping that you have a good weekend and week ahead. You have been working so hard.
@vegasgirl0825 You are right you can’t log everything perfectly. What I like about MFP is that I always find a lot of different ethnic food on here. We go to Dim Sum since my husband is Chinese descent and I usually find most of it on here. The guy that started MF was Asian. Last night instead of the planned ballroom dance class and dinner out our daughter decided to make sushi. It was the best Futomaki roll I have had (not the best looking). I just found a futomaki roll on here and estimated how much of a roll I ate. You are right it probably differs exactly from what my daughter made. That is one reason I don’t eat all my exercise calories. This is not an exact science even if you were to exactly log every food and exercise perfectly there is the way each body metabolizes it. I calculated my TDEE and BMR to come up with a deficit but it isn’t exact it is just an estimate. No TDEE calculator can give you your exact Total Daily Energy Equilviancy or whatever TDEE is. So that is why I have a spreadsheet. It helps me evaluate whether what I was eating and how I was logging it was working or not. Sometimes we know we have logged really close but other times we just have to do our best and let go a bit. If you have 100 lbs to lose it is important to be rigorous but it is also important to be sustainable. I had to learn how to negotiate and log family gatherings but I can’t stop having those important times with my family. I would make sure I got exercise in the morning and logged the best I could. Enjoy that sushi and log the best you can!
@Savannah80 great loss since early January plus great strides in fitness! Very inspiring! I decided that although this is a monthly thread I am going to put my progress from the 1st of the year on. Thank you for that video. It is something I already believe is true. We need to have rests from calorie deficits. I took one after I lost 20 lbs for only 2 weeks and I actually lost weight on maintenance calories. Then when I went back to a much less deficit I lost the rest of another 20 lbs. I do not think many understand these concepts. I also think it is good to think about the idea of set points. Making that new lower weight one our body accepts as the one it is trying to maintain rather than our original higher weight. Before we go one to losing the next 10%. When I lost my 1st 10% I had an impossible plateau. The only way I got over it was to go on maintenance. I also realized the way I lost it was by eating below my BMR so the next time I made sure my deficit was lower and above my Basal Metabolism Rate.
@Lilann1961 I think that embarrassment with my baby belly was what lead me down the wrong path. I remembering getting a new job when my daughter was preschool age and my boss looking at me thinking I was pregnant. But I wasn’t. I just had had one c-section too many and didn’t know how to get rid of the belly and extra weight with a clingy kid. I did all the wrong things. You are doing the right ones just don’t give up. Take care of yourself which is hard when you are a Mom.
@RavenStCloud glad you are cleared to get back to exercise. I think food is much more than 50% but I need the exercise part to lose too since at my age slowing metabolism is much of the problem and exercise helps with that. Other things do too.
@BrownSugar I am glad you are looking into what is best for you. I know I have a small frame and I will take that into consideration when I decide on a goal beyond getting into a healthy range. I also know that my daughter has a larger one. I would see there was no fat on her body but in clothes she looked chunkier than a lot of the girls her age. Her doctor would give her a hard time when she really wasn’t overweight. She lost weight but her doctor wasn’t satisfied. Even though I gave her a different message the outside world was overwhelming. When she was healthy she didn’t get that message from the world. Now she is over weight but why even try when you do the world judges you on the basis of some air brushed model. We all have different bodies but we are all judged by some standard that doesn’t fit us. I applaud you for setting your own standard and your doctor for supporting you. There are also people who are skinny fat. They have fat around the middle internally and they don’t exercise. That is really unhealthy too. Some of us with more weight but who exercise and eat right may be doing better. I know that when I spiked to higher weights last fall I looked a lot better than when I started to lose. It is because even though I would like to exercise more like I did when I had more time I still get regular exercise and I do things to up my activity. My face isn’t as bloated looking as it was at the same weight.
@pamiede Congratulations on passing the 100 lbs off !
I seem to be able to check in here on Saturday to Tuesday but then my work week gets to be too much. My low hasn't changed yet. However my trend is still going down since my highs are much lower. I have been logging. Although I logged Friday late. I read all the posts since Wednesday and replied to a lot but not all.
My real progress this week is that I got exercise on 2 other days as well as aquafit. I will check in tomorrow.

House is a no-go. Someone got in before we did. I'm pausing the search because there's other stuff going on at home and it just doesn't feel like I've got everyone fully on board with this.14
-
I pretty much crashed food-wise today and did some emotional comfort food eating. My mom isn't doing well and the doctors aren't sure what to do for her. It's like a puzzle they're trying to figure out and it's hard because she isn't herself. Anyway, that combined with some other small things plus waking up very groggy put me into comfort eating mode by lunchtime. I'm hoping I will wake up feeling much better tomorrow and be able to get back on track this coming work week! More snow to shovel by Tuesday morning it looks like.13

Glad people are finding the video I posted useful/informative. 🙂
I’m having a ‘naughty’ weekend eating things I shouldn’t. Friday night my husband surprised me with a meal out at an Indian restaurant. I’ve had to estimate the calories, but I’m. Pretty sure I ate around 2400kcal that day, so not great. Yesterday started well, but step-kids are over and they pestered for take out. So I ended up with southern fried chicken and small fries. That was an 1800kcal day. Today I’ve just had wholemeal toast with 2 boiled eggs and a fat free yogurt. Family meal planned at Wetherspoons later though so another ‘bad’ meal. Not expecting a good weigh in on Friday7 -

Just stay focused on your goals. Everything will work out the way it's supposed to. Try and be patient, keep looking for that home for yourself :-)5 -
theleadmare wrote: »Here are my February goals!
weight down to 280 by 3/1.
Gym at least four days a week each week.
Bike up to 15 minutes by the end of the month
Overhead press to thirty pounds by the end of the month
Keep eating under 1479 calories, eating back exercise calories as needed.
Have a pair of size 16 pants and size L shirts in the closet for when I need them!
don't eat back your exercise calories. You don't have to stay in your target that the app gives you. The app gives you slack and exagerates numbers. Use it just to track your own food and intake, and eat based on how you feel. I never eat what it tells me, but I always try and eat within the limits it sets for me.5 -
The only time I eat back exercise calories is if I've got a real oversurplus (300 or more) and if I "run out of food" late in the day. I can tell a craving from a real "I didn't eat enough today for my needs" by now, and I don't go nuts; I have a snack that is about 150 calories and that will get me through. It's still not ALL my calories.7

@BrownSugar174 That’s a really good question. For myself, I’ve been overweight since a child. In elementary, junior high, & high school, I had to endure the bullying and teasing. When in high school, I may a conscious decision to ignore all of that and be me! I had close friends and a loving supportive family. They loved me for who I was not what I looked like. I still struggled some with self-esteem issues but not much. So, I’ve ALWAYS loved Me❣️ The older I become, the wiser, the more experienced... the more I fall in love with myself. I love me to show my sons the importance to love themselves. I started this most recent weight loss journey not as much for myself but for my sons. They are adults, in healthy relationships. I’m anticipating weddings within the next few years and grandchildren. I want to be able to be there, active, and able to run and play, Lord willing.6

@pamiede You are just such a lovely, beautiful spirit! Your entire post made me grin from ear to ear.BrownSugar174 wrote: »So as I’m riding my bike today and enjoying the moment a question popped into my mind...”when did you start loving yourself?”
So that’s the question I’d like to pose to each of you lovely ladies🥰
@BrownSugar174 Currently I’m trying my best to love myself while trying to get out of a toxic relationship (stuck due to finances). I consider just the simple fact that I have stronger boundaries and no longer tolerate his abuse and cruelty, as well as making serious efforts to leave, signs that I do love myself. Before I thought I deserved to be punished and couldn’t do any better. So I just accepted my fate as someone who would never be in a healthy relationship and that they didn’t exist. But what I failed to recognize all my life is that the most important healthy relationship starts with myself!
Therefore, even though I haven’t been able to get out of this toxic household yet, I try to keep reminding myself that just because someone is stuck in a bad situation, doesn't mean they still can’t love themselves. If anything, it helps to make us more aware of the love we need to show ourselves. Also, it actually is helping me to cultivate more patience (but not acceptance!) and less and less anger towards my abuser every day. I mean, I still get angry, but I use it to help myself make better decisions and to love myself for who I am (warts and all) more and more, instead of playing into the toxic drama that would normally ensue.12 -
I’ve been overweight since childhood. There are for sure genetics to obesity. My daughter is a chunky girl and has been literally since she was born. We have been battling food obsessive behaviors with her since infancy - which...with infants...what do you do without traumatizing them??
Anyway today’s my weigh in day. You can see the effects of my bad food choices the past three days 😳 I gained!
Some is just the new scale. I decided to log what it said 😂 but most is me and my choices leading to weight gain.
Back on track!!!
We got this 💪12 -
Sunday weigh in: 197.8
Down a little! I ate an entire big bag of popcorn yesterday at the movie so I was sure I would see a spike but I think I need to give up guessing what the scale is gonna do.
MFP is a touch glitchy but it looked like I got a message from someone asking if I had any goals I wanted to reach by my birthday. I had one and I got to it: onederland.
I'm turning 32 on the 18th. I haven't been under 200 lbs since I was 19. I left home at 17 and did a deplorable job of taking care of myself I'm afraid.
So I'm doing my best to turn back the clock on my weight at least, even if I can't go back on my age.
My next goal is 185 by the end of June. That'll get me out of obese and into overweight.11
