Today I got weighed and since starting MFP I have lost 38lbs. I have a lot to lose so it's not really showing yet. The only comment I've had was negative. I told someone that I'd lost 38lbs only to be told, 'Well you have a long way to go.' Yes I know I have a long way to go but I need to celebrate 38lbs. So I'm asking you to celebrate with me because you all know how much effort I've had to put in to lose that amount.

Good work!!! Don’t let this person derail you or diminish your accomplishments. Walk proud!15

Congratulations on your 38 lbs lost. You are showing a real commitment to yourself. You are a good way to being 3 stone lighter than you were, x weeks ago. In a similar number of weeks you should be really seeing the results of your self care. Well done you.
May be the person felt threatened because they carry more weight than they need. (I've no idea of your relationship with this person). Possibly they fear nolonger being in your circle when you have achieved better health and your personal goals.
Wishing you all the very best as you keep working on yourself.12 -
38 pounds is great. I think the person who said that to you has a long way to go to becoming a decent person.

Awesome, 👏👏👏 way to go girl 👍 38 lbs is worth celebrating 🥳10

Woo-hoo! Congrats!!!3

38lbs is amazing! Your knees are probably throwing a party to celebrate and forgot to invite you
It doesn't matter how much you have left to go, what matters is what you've achieved so far!13 -
For that one negative person there are MANY others who would have been much more positive and supportive. Don't let that one person ruin your efforts! Congratulations!11
-
Well done you - it doesn't matter how much you have to go because you have proven that you can do it... and over time you will get to where you want to be. That's such a mean spirited comment for someone to have made - my guess is they are uncomfortable with some aspect of your positive changes.12

That's an awesome loss! Way to go!. Remember the old adage that a 1000 mile journey begins with a single step. You are well on your way, so don't let negative comments get you off the path....Keep up the great work!!!!12

I celebrate you, your success and your journey. Please don’t let one person ruin the wonderful accomplishment you have no doubt worked hard for. As they saying goes, “what other people think of you is none of your business.” Pay this person no mind. Straighten your crown, hold your head high and carry on. Cheers to you.14

Celebrate your accomplishment; you deserve it!! And the person that said that, is just ignorant how something like that can make anyone feel.
YOU know YOU are doing great, keep it up!!!5 -
38 pounds? That's amazing! It takes real work and commitment to do that. I would like to smack that one negative person... there's just no call for that kind of thoughtless comment. In the meantime though, you have done a great kindness to your heart, your back, your knees and your feet. I'll bet there are some things you can already notice are easier to do. So you're right to celebrate!15

38 pounds is brilliant you should be proud5

This amount is AMAZING don’t let anybody rain on your parade. Do things that help you to be excited it doesn’t matter what others say or don’t say. I took pics of myself with “goal pants” on. They weren’t pretty as I could only get them to my thighs. I decided to take a progress pic to see how much if any change there was. My loss was exactly the amount you have now. I was shocked when not only did the pants fit but I could button and zip them just fine. Wow! Nobody could have said anything that made me feel as good as those two pics. Yay me!!11

Thanks everyone. I knew you'd understand and feel happy for me. I have noticed one thing.....my jeans have started to fall down. I'll have to get a belt41

Go to Goodwill and buy a “transition” pair. You’d be amazed how good a well fitting pair of jeans makes you feel. Plus, it’s movating to buy a smaller size.

You're doing a fantastic job!! Love the jeans "problem." What a great "problem" huh?
What others think/say is of no account. Only what you think matters. And right now you must be thinking "I've got this." And you are right.

38 pounds is HUGE! Great job!5

You are probably showing somewhere. Are you taking progress pictures? If not, you should. I wish I had been more faithful with mine.
You have lost a lot of weight. You know those heavy 5 gallon water bottles? You have almost lost the weight of one of them. That is so much and you lost it one day at a time. How much you have left is all going to be done one day at a time too. No reason to think past today anymore than needed.
Great job!17 -
38 pounds is AWESOME!!!!! There is nothing more motivating then success and you are successful!!!6

some people are just difficult, enjoy your weight loss3

Put it in perspective. I’m training for a long walking trip in Spain. My backpack is 11 pounds 9 ounces. I’m walking 4-5 miles a day to get used to it.
It occurred to me yesterday morning that I’ve lost “seven backpacks”. That was a very sobering- and empowering- thought.
You, dear, have lost over three backpacks. Imagine carrying that weight on your back!!!!10 -
When you put it that way I feel even better about my weight loss9

You're doing so well - don't let that rude person rain on your parade!3

I have to lose at least 90lb and when I lost my first 5 lb I was celebrating, so you’re doing great job don’t let anyone stopping you to reach your goal and congratulations on that weight you lost 💪👍3 -
Just adding to the chorus of support -- 38 lbs is outstanding work. So glad you posted here!4

Even more when you try to imagine strapping all of those to yourself. The reason the water bottle thing came to mind instantly for me is I have lost more than 6 of them. Last month we had 6 delivered and with them all sitting there I tried to imagine attaching all of them to my body and trying to walk around. It doesn't even seem possible yet that amount of weight was on my body.10 -
Whatever the reason for the negative comment was, don't let that stop you. 38 pounds lost is a due cause for celebration! Congratulations!
As for the jeans "problem"... it feels great, doesn't it? At least for me, it's one of my favorite "problems" to have ever since I started my weight loss.4
