@lbostic89 What a hectic morning, sorry you had to go through that. I am similar in that things don't roll off my back and can ruin my whole day. I hope your day got better!
@chelleedub A loss is a loss. If you look at some of our earlier threads you'll see this is a common thing that people deal with. You can plan and measure everything you eat, workout and burn X calories and the math shows you'll lose so much and then weigh day its not what you thought it would be. The trend is going down, that's what you should focus on. You are doing what you need to, the weight will come off.
@BrownSugar174 How exciting! I've always wanted to do a yoga class but am intimidated. I've done yoga in my living room and its a great workout.
Gym today after work, today working on legs/glutes. Eating has been good. The weekend is approaching, that is my weakness. If I want to lose the 2 pounds I gained last week, I need to have a good weekend. I work Saturday 8-3pm so that should help me not snack throughout the day. I'm making pork pozole for my siblings Sunday, pozole is high calorie but its very filling so I can see me eating a bowl early in the day and if I am hungry later eating another small bowl. The fact that I am thinking of the weekend on Thursday shows me that my head is in the right place. Hope you all have a great day8 -

I need to find healthy snacks that don't set my system off. Grapes are apparently a problem, at least in any significant number. Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots... most veggies it seems, all citrus fruit. This is getting tedious.
Got IBS? That's my issue. Healthy is what works for you. I do a lot with nuts and cheese sticks, since I've got a fructose intolerance (It won't kill me, but I am going to feel rotten) and the IBS.
Today's snacks are a quarter cup of trail mix in the afternoon when I get hungry before dinner, and a cheese stick and three wheat crackers before bed. I am still losing weight, and while it would be nice if I could eat veggies, there's no good getting upset about it, so I don't.
That's right! I have issues with most veggies, citrus fruit, too much fat, spme meat, and dairy. Something knew pops up every year it seems.
Last few days I'm mixing up celery, red peppers and pretzels with almonds here and there. I think this bread are the only thing I don't have issues with thus far. Thankfully nectarines, peaches, apples and pears have been reliable. I just don't want to go overboard on fruit and miss other nutrients.5 -
@sharpdust Thanks for the reply. That's actually why I haven't set goals in the past; I prefer to just focus on the downward trend, rather than be disappointed that I haven't hit a specific goal. I do best with positive reinforcement. Maybe I'll focus less on numeric goals and just come here for mutual encouragement, rather than get caught up in what everyone else is doing.
Today, I did house cleaning, and it really needed it! It lifted my mood. I also make my sheet pan lunches for the week! Very happy with myself, as I've never been one to cook much. All that chopping made me feel like a chef, lol. Later today or tomorrow I'll make the chili for my dinners.

Holding on at 194 lb, my next mini March goal is ~190 by March 15, and considering I dipped this week to 192.8, I can probably do it.
@charsuzy I don’t think there have been any cases within city limits, just Kirkland and Snohomish county tbh. It’s just the whole “the entire west coast/Puget Sound is Seattle” thing that’s freaking everyone out lol
@speyerj Thank you! I am! We have to write 4 more for summer in addition to the 4 we already wrote for this year.5 -
@sharpdust that's so awesome that you are enjoying the gym so much! I agree that the weight gain this week is probably from the additional exercise- that always happens to me too. I'm also thinking of the weekend. I tend to be more active, but I'm home more and therefore around my kitchen more. Pozole sounds sooooo good to me right now!!
@lbostic89 as a fellow working mom I was cringing reading your post, because that could be me. There are always a million details to keep track of. I feel on a lot of days that I am just trying to keep the train on the tracks. I'm late to work more than I am proud of, but fortunately I have an understanding boss who also has a family. Congratulations on even remembering it was school picture today! And, it's behind you. Kids got their money, you got to work, you have a plan for if it happens again.
@BrownSugar174 I love yoga! I hope you love it too. I find my body needs it. I feel it if I haven't been doing it, it goes a long way for getting rid of the aches and pains.
@charlottemilton welcome! Sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. I hope that taking some weight off will help! You've come to the right place, this group is wonderful.
It's Thursday and I'm feeling a bit run down today. Not sure what is going on. My husband has been out of town for work this week so I've definitely been running a million miles a minute trying to keep my family where they need to be, and taking care of our farm, working my full time job, plus laundry, housework (the BARE minimum of course), and the neverending task of feeding the kids and I. Oh- and trying somehow to fit in a workout here and there! So, maybe that's why I'm rundown. Husband gets home tonight, but not until late, so I've got one more evening of being everything to everyone.
We have a small horse farm (4 horses, a pony, and a donkey) and actually- managing that plus the kids on my own is near impossible. Actually, it's possible, but it takes me getting up at 5 AM and I do not like getting up that early. I prefer a good solid 8 hours of sleep. Now that I just typed this all out, it's no wonder I feel run down today. I tried going for a brisk walk earlier, and the fresh air did help a bit. I might try another walk here on my lunch break again.
I hope everyone is having a good day!4 -
@charlottemilton Welcome! You have come to a very caring and open discussion between women who are all on this journey of life! The peaks and valleys of this journey will be many but we will all pull each other through! There are beautiful ladies on this page from many different times zones so you can post and, most of the time, get a response to your questions/comments/concerns. We are here for each other🥰😊💪🏽👍🏽charlottemilton wrote: »Hi everyone,
It's my birthday today and I found this group. Help! I need some friends. I restarted mfp a couple weeks ago after getting diagnosed with gastritis and non fatty liver disease on top of the fibromyalgia, arthritis, gerd, and allergies. So I am serious about losing this weight and keeping it off. I don't want to progress to severe liver disease or need a transplant. I have more testing scheduled in June to see exactly how bad my liver is, and want to do as much to make it better before then as possible. So between the diet for gastritis and my liver, I would likely be losing weight anyway. He said my body isn't able to use all the nutrients I eat so I need to eat at least 6-9 servings of vegetables a day, low fat, low sodium, low to no added sugars, high fiber (25-30 gms/day,) and lose some weight as there is no medication to cure non alcoholic fatty liver.
Highest weight 293 lbs
Restart weight 266 lbs 2/20/2020
Current weight 257 lbs
Goals for March
Eat at least 6 servings of vegetables a day
Get to bed by 10 pm
Lose 10 lbs

@charlottemilton HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎈🎊🎉🎁🎂
Sorry about all the bad stuff going on. Hopefully you caught it early enough that the effects aren’t bad.
I got a new scale. I’m reserving weighing myself for Sunday, my regular weigh day. I believe I may have gained by the way my clothes feel...man I go off the rails for a week or two and I pack on the pounds apparently 😭. We’ll see how bad the damage is in just a few more days....4 -
It's been a while but I think I'm having a panic attack. My breathing is weird and shallow and I feel faint and dizzy and hot. And nauseous.
This kind of thing hasn't happened in nearly a year. It's weird. I hate it. It makes no sense. I'm not even upset, just a little stressed.
Brain! Stop your nonsense!11 -
I'm really feeling good these days. I'm looking at the scale with a lot of equanimity; it will move at some point, and while it's interesting to watch day to day the pound up, pound down fluctuations, I am not getting all het up about being up a pound or down one. Today happens to be down; however, having had lunch out, I bet tomorrow will be up. And one day I'll lose three or four at a go, and begin bouncing round a new normal, cause that's how I seem to roll. I have a lot more stamina, and so I find myself moving round the house more and up and down the stairs a lot, and my "standing budget" is markedly increased. I went to four stores today and was as sore on getting home as I used to be having done two. So this is a very happy thing.9

ive been the hospital today. I had a anterior and posterior repair for prolapses of bladder and bowel last october and they have only just sent for me. I should have had a 6-8 wk check up. Ive gone today knowing the operation wasnt a success with the posterior repair but the surgeon told me not only has that not worked but some of the stitches must have come undone and something id now blocking the neck of my cervix.
sorry if its too much gross info but im really worried and i had a panic attack before the last op and woke up through it too.
I have to see a different specialist now to see if he can do the 2 procedures in one op.17 -
Hey everyone--I was reading a different thread where people were talking about their frustrations with the scale and the up/down that we see a lot. Someone posted this link: https://physiqonomics.com/the-weird-and-highly-annoying-world-of-scale-weight-and-fluctuations/ and I thought it was a great piece of information...really helps you understand the different reasons why our weight fluctuates. This is something that I've definitely been struggling with this week, so it was perfect timing for me! I also read a couple of other postings the author did and I thought they were very informative. Please note--he uses some "naughty" words in some of his articles, so I wanted people to be forewarned! The language doesn't bother me, but might bother others!12

I am exhausted, totally broken. My husband woke me at 5am and said the doctors have told him to go to hospital because he had flu like symptoms and chest pains. Long story short he’s got pneumonia but back home and filling himself up with drugs. I’m so far behind with my work and deadlines for this weekend plus worried about him. But but but I resisted the urge to cupboard raid to get me through the exhaustion, I squeezed in a swim and slipped into my exercise calories but not too much! Tomorrow is another day, I have a plan, a list and I shall conquer .23

Good evening everyone!
Goodness... it looks like it’s been a hell of a March for EVERYONE already!!!! Hugs all around for everyone 😢...I’m having a really bad interaction between two of my medications (one is causing the other to stop working) so I’ve pretty much been in pain for most of the day. But I did manage to get in a yoga workout and cook for the next week before it set in too bad.
@sharpdust yesterday I was up at 5am for work and didn’t get back in the house until 7 so I knew I wouldn’t do much working out, but I did go for a 40 minute walk... today I did 45 minutes of yoga and then all hell broke loose so I know I’m done working out for the day... I’m glad you’re also sticking with the gym... how is pozole made?
@lbostic89 that suuuucks!!! I’m glad you made it through the day but I totally understand the anxiety of having a spastic morning. That’s something lots of us would have a hard time shaking off.
@charlottemilton HAPPY BIRTHDAAAAY!!!! Welcome to the group and congrats on the 9 lb weight loss. This is a great group of knowledgeable women so if you have any questions be sure to ask... I always do lol.
@Terytha I’m so sorry😔... but it won’t last and you’ll make it through... and once it does be as gentle with yourself as you can; take a bath, lay down and take a nap, watch a comedy. Whatever you can to take your mind away from what just happened and to relax your muscles. That feeling sucks and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone
@leanneellison1979 oh wow I’m so sorry to hear that. I pray that you can find the specialist you need to complete the procedures correctly. We’re always hear if you need to vent or need encouragement. ❤️❤️❤️10 -
Aw surgery sucks and makes losing weight hard! Protein and vitamin C for healing! Good veggies have vitamin C and lots of other vitamins and minerals too so you don’t have to stick with just oranges 😂
And sorry about the panic attacks guys. I have panic attacks too. I understand how it can derail everything. I actually have been having a terrible week emotionally but just started back on track. My brain is so food obsessed right now.
Good job reaching out for support 🥰8 -
Just need to vent.
I’ve had a terrible day. My husband decided to diy a concrete path all around the house. He’s halfway done and has just been in a horrible mood taking it out on us all. So naughty me binged on potato chips and I’m feeling really terrible about it. I’m probably way over my calories for the day and I’m expecting a very small loss if any this Sunday for weigh in. What’s done is done, just need to get back into it again tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.13 -
@svm569 I can identify with that - plenty of times I've been in the kitchen secretly binging on jaffa cakes when my bf is in a grump.
Easier said than done, I know, but try not to feel terrible. These things happen, and beating yourself up only extends the cycle. Just draw a line under it, step away from the chips, and maybe start thinking about other things you can do when you're heading for an emotional binge.
Sending you good vibes for an on-track day tomorrow!9 -
I've learned that when he's being a grump in the living room that it's time to go up and clean out a closet upstairs, or clean out a couple kitchen cabinets. It's useful and productive, and it gets you out of the range of grumping, and it keeps you busy so you don't eat. Plus you can mutter darkly into the depths of the cabinet as you wipe it out.10

So I have had a rough week. Got sick on Wednesday, like actually stay home sick from work sick. I'm still not feeling 100% and am going to try to get in to the doctors today to see if I need antibiotics or something. I had pizza on Wednesday so I am surprised I lost this week. It may actually just be lost water weight because I have been sleeping a lot more and probably not getting enough fluids. I haven't been able to workout since Tuesday so I am super behind on my exercise. Oh well, hoping I feel better soon and can get back to it. The scale will do what it wants until then!7 -
Omg chips and crackers and cookies are the worst!!! They’re so easy to grab one or two and before you know it the whole bag is gone. 😓 Worse you aren’t even all that satisfied or full!
My hubby loves crackers and chips specifically, and he brings in cookies for the kids. He knows it is hard for me and he apologizes but he just doesn’t get it or he wouldn’t do it.
We currently have a container of ice cream in the freezer I keep fighting with myself over. It’s gonna have to become one of those things when the big kids come back from their dad’s house (divorced) they get a really big bowl of ice cream 😂9 -
So this morning I said to my husband that I feel like this will be the first weigh in day that I don’t loose weight but I don’t feel like I gained any weight. My sweetheart says “babe, one of your goals was to be under 230 pounds before we go to New Orleans and you’ve reached that goal ahead of time and I’m so proud of you!” Then he said “but let’s say you have gained weight..does that discount all the weight you’ve lost and does that change how beautiful your body is...does that change how fierce you are in the gym...does that change the fact that your butt is wow!...nope! not at all because I know your perseverance...and I know what I’m seeing..a lifestyle change!”
By the time he got done I was crying with joy! I got on the scale and I did not loose any weight and did not gain any weight and I’m still smiling😊. I love this man right here!!!🥰22 -

Still the same number that it has been for days now. I even grabbed up a passing kitty to hold so I could be sure the scales weren't messed up. Nope the scales are all good and the kitty weighs about 8lbs. Mentally in a better place than earlier in the week. Following the advice to trust the process and stick with my plan. Letting frustrations go.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend. Catch up in a bit.11 -
@bluffgirl67 that is truly amazing that you have been the same exact number for days now! But hey, you have made it down into onederland after a lot of success, and I think it's okay that you're holding steady for a little bit. I'm sure it will start to drop again. Who knows what goes on with our bodies with water retention and all that. I'm sure the kitty enjoyed participating in your weigh in, too!
I'm sorry that so many of us have had stressful weeks. @svm569 that is lame about your grumpy husband. I personally have found that my patience levels fluctuate with regards to my husband's various DIY projects. My husband is famous for starting things and not finishing them. Our counter on the kitchen island was plywood for 2 years (fortunately finished now), and our master bath has been "in renovation" for 3 years. I fantasize about hiring contractors all the time. We can't afford it, though, and my husband is really handy, so I just have to be patient and try not to nag.
If my husband gets grumpy with the dIY projects that HE starts, I just grab the kids and head for the hills to do something fun.
@BrownSugar174 your man sounds amazing, what a sweetheart. He knew just what to say! And- he's right! You have already met your goal for New Orleans.
My goal is to get to Onederland by the time I run the 5k on March 14. Then, 5 days later, we got on vacation and I'd like to stay in onederland the whole time. It's only a measly couple pounds away, so why does it feel so hard?7 -

@RavenStCloud thanks for starting this group I am fortunate to be part of such wonderful, supporting and inspiring group of women. I thank God each day for giving me the strength and determination to continue on this journey.
@BrownSugar174 Namaste! Yoga is a great addition to your fitness program. After a session your are less stress and calm, it is great way to work on your Strength and flexibility. What a great hubby you have I sure you will be on cloud nine for the entire day. Just what a girl needs great loving support.5 -
@shorepine Thank you for the welcome. I am sorry you are needing to do all the farm work yourself and take care of the family while your husband is away. Just think of all the extra calories you burned! Glad he is due back soon.
@BrownSugar174 Thank you for the welcome. It sounds like you have a wonderful husband. Cherish him.
@Aerohead21 Thank you for the Happy Birthday! Maybe your new scale will be forgiving?
@Terytha I am sorry you aren't feeling well. Hope everything settles down and the panic stops.
My scale was up a bit this morning but I expected it. My husband took my daughters and son-in-law and myself out to dinner last night to our local hibachi grill so I wouldn't have to cook on my birthday. I tried to eat well and according to my doctor's instructions but the food was richer and more sodium than I have been having and my stomach started to hurt but not as badly as a few weeks ago. So it may be starting to heal.
I need to get started painting while I still have some energy. Goal is to give the closet a second coat and get the sewing room emptied (most everything big is out just a bunch of stuff on the shelf around the room,) clean the walls so the paint will stick, tape and start painting it. I need to finish it tomorrow so we can put stuff back in on Sunday.9 -
I'm feeling a bit better today.
I had a rough night though apparently. I was dreaming about shopping but I woke up covered in cuts and scratches. I have a really bad cut right on my hip and I have no idea what happened. 0_o
TGIF is all I can say. If I'm lucky and the weather isn't too horrible I'll get to see a friend who is coming from another city tomorrow. Plus I'll get to sleep in. I love sleep lol.
Steak for dinner tonight! I'm going about 200 calories over but today is an exercise day so it should even out hopefully.
Weight down slightly to 193.8 this morning. I no longer bounce over 200. On track for 190 by the end of the month.12 -
Goodness seems like March has decided to take a swipe at quite a few of us. Use the weekend to refocus, energize, and strategize. We've acquired more knowledge and tools since the beginning though so let's grab March by the horns and show it whose boss!! Congrats to those who are already kicking it and posting losses!
@MuttiNM What an adventure your son is having. I can't even imagine the stamina, strength, and determination it takes to bike cross country.
@sharpdust So happy you are back to the gym and enjoying workouts. You are doing great!
@speyerj Love the new pic!! You look amazing.
@CupcakeCrusoe Looks like Terytha already kicked your butt for not taking your meds. I will just give you a tiny tap then. With all the exercise you're doing it is beneficial to monitor bp and take your meds. Hopefully you can officially come off them soon. Thanks for the mojo also. We should have biopsy results Tues/Wed.
@lbostic89 Wow what a day you had. I would have been crying my eyes out from the stress. Tell yourself exercise is a "duty" of your new job. Maybe looking at it that way will help you get it done more often.
@chelleedub Losing 1lb is still a great loss. Hitting 2lbs every week will be difficult to do and also stressful on your body over time. Once you get more settled into the routine and following your plan consistently I'm sure things will fall into place. There is always going to times when goals aren't met. It's frustrating but also ok. We just have to keep on track and not get derailed. All positive steps we take are forward movement. (making mental note to self as I've been struggling with this).
@BrownSugar174 I hope you love the yoga classes. I've never been able to do a formal class but love my youtube yoga time. I've been slack on hit and my body feels it. I think yoga helps us move those little odd muscles that don't see much action plus keeps are bodies limber. All good things in my book. Your hubby is such a good soul but I expect nothing less since you are too.
@charlottemilton Welcome and Happy Birthday! I'm sorry you are facing so many health issues right now. Using those are reasons to take control of your health is a great thing to focus on. You have a lot of nutritional parameters so I would work on meeting those as the first step while logging my foods. Trying to do too much at once can be overwhelming.
@shorepine I'm tired just reading your post so no wonder you've been feeling rundown. Hopefully with hubby coming home this weekend your load will lighten up and you can get some downtime. Hang in there and keep reaching for Onederland. You are going to make it.
@Terytha Hope you are feeling better today and that the anxiety is better. OMG at your battle scars from dreaming. Were you at a massive cut throat sale in the dream? I'm shooting for 190 also but you are ahead of me on loss. Let's hit that goal this month.
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 Love the positive attitude and that your hard work is paying off with more energy.
@leanneellison1979 Hoping the specialist will be able to do a successful surgery and your body can heal quickly.
@fitchick37 Sorry your hubby is sick and that you've got so much work stress on your shoulders. I'm proud of you for not raiding the cupboards. Your plans are solid and yes you will conquer!
@kathrynegrady I hope you are feeling better today and that your meds get sorted out.
@Aerohead21 Sorry you've been hit hard this week also but glad to see you are getting back on track. I hope you have a great and restful weekend.
@svm569 It's so hard when other's attitudes cause us to react in ways that aren't good for our journey. I'm guilty of eating my feelings at times so totally understand. Taking the time to acknowledge the why is a positive. All we can do is learn from it and like you said start over the next day. No reason to let the small slips override all the good steps. You've got this.
@FadedNovelty Feel better soon. Take care of yourself and feed your body with good food and rest.
Trying to decide if I want strength or cardio today. Technically a strength day but the arthritis in my hands is acting up so gripping kettle bells doesn't sound like much fun. So guess I just made up mind...cardio it is.
12 -
@fitchick37 Sorry you had such a rough day, hope today is better
@kathrynegrady Pozole is a Mexican pork stew with hominy. Its a traditional meal made of pork meat, neckbones and other pork bits (ears, feet, snout, etc. **My fave parts!**). Its a meal that many poorer Mexicans ate back in the day, hence the other bits, the idea it to use the less attractive parts of the pig. You boil that all together with some garlic and then once its about done I add chile guajillo puree to give it the red color. Served with tostadas, onions, oregano and radishes. The broth is so flavorful because of all the fatty pig bits, its probably my favorite dish that I make. Just about every Mexican restaurant offers it on weekends.
@svm569 Today is a new day! Hope its better for you
@BrownSugar174 How sweet You have a great partner
@bluffgirl67 glad to hear you are feeling a bit better mentally. You have a lot on your plate, do what you can but above all make sure you are taking care of yourself.
I did day 3 of gym yesterday, 3 of 4 done. The next day will be sometime this weekend. I work Saturday so after work would be ideal, but I always have Sunday to fall back on if that doesn't work out. So sorry to read that many are having troubles. Things will get better, just keep on doing what you're doing. Hope you have a great weekend everyone

@bluffgirl67 No, it was a very silly dream about walking a dog while getting groceries. Sometimes I have terrible nightmares and sometimes I dream about puppies and chores. =P
I wonder if maybe there was something rough/sharp caught in the cloth of my PJs. My cat likes to chew his toenails in my lap. I'll throw them in the wash and change out the sheets just in case.7 -
And this is why I love this...there is so much love and openness here🥰❤️8
-
I want chocolate 😭😭😭😭😭 I hate starting and restarting and the negotiation your brain does. Like NO 😡 we do NOT need chocolate 😡8
