Hello from the Midwest! I’ve never put forth 100% using this app and need to. 20 pounds to go to my goal. I love working out and do so 4-5 days week spinning and body pump. I don’t drink or smoke. I thinking my issues are too many calories with natural sugar from fruit. Typical day is a protein shake after morning workout, oatmeal with blueberries at 10; in salad with oil and vinegar and no cheese, string cheese and fruit or almonds for afternoon snack; healthy instant pot or grilled meat and veg for dinner, and apple and peanut butter for dessert before 8 pm. What would you change here? Open to any ideas or suggestions. Friend me if you’d like. Thanks for listening 😃

With just 20 pounds to lose, a ½ pound weekly lost's ideal.

You're able to eat & drink whatever or how much of whatever you'd like, as long as 1st it's within your calorie budget {a food scale for many helps to ensure this, especially with so little for you to lose there isn't much margin for error} & 2nd it keeps you satiated.

Your food choices look good to me. Mostly whole food. Are you logging your food? Do you have a food scale? I'd start with weighing and logging everything I eat. It's a bit tedious at first, but after a couple of weeks you can look at the food log and figure out where you can reduce calories.

I'm 50, and trying this again after 2 back surgeries derailed me for a bit. I've been on here since 2013, but it seems the friends I had have dropped out or unfriended me cuz I was MIA. Anyway, good luck to you all!

Just approaching 39 and trying to convince myself 40 is not round the corner!!!

Previously lost around 5 stone but a few stones have crept back on in the last 18 to 24 months! Been convincing myself everything is ok BUT had a wake up call this week from my nurse.

Back on the wagon and approaching weight loss with a different frame of mind.

Vacation is over but we had a fun day in Miami at the science museum and an art gallery. Wanna know the best investment ever? Membership at our local gallery since it's now gotten us into three others for free!!!!

Back to working our and eating better. I've undone all the good I did before

@AliNouveau - reciprocity is a major benefit of membership in many organizations. As a member of the local aquarium, each month I get to go visit a different facility with up to three other folks for free. As a volunteer, I get access for myself year-round to many places.

I am considering joining a local arboretum in a city about an hour away. It comes with a free County parking pass (not my county) that I can use when I use their county parks (parking for boating, for example), and reciprocity to arboretums and botanical gardens across the country.

Glad you had a good vacation. Safe travels getting home, and take care of that shoulder!

We have many memberships and many offer different privileges to visitors. Our zoo membership typically gets us half price, others like the art gallery....free. not all reciprocities are the same. It's always nice when we're able to use them.

I agree with the other poster that perhaps it's the amount of food you're eating? Like how much oatmeal are we talking? Maybe too much? It also doesn't seem like enough protein to me. I would definitely add some chicken to that salad or have another protein shake if you have trouble stomaching lunch.

Your diet is pretty similar to mine. Here's what I typically eat when I'm doing really well.

    Breakfast

    1. oatmeal (1/4 C dry) and blueberries (1/4 C), or
    2. egg or egg whites, a piece of toast, and 2 pieces of bacon, or
    3. Egg white "sweet" omelet (egg whites, cinnamon and vanilla)

    Snacks
protein shake with half water and half almond milk between weights and cardio, AND
1/2 an apple or a few strawberries or 1/4 C blueberrues right after working out

    Lunch
    1. Can of tuna & 1 piece of toast with lemon juice & 1 T mayo, or
    2. Salad with 3 oz chicken, or
    3. Any 3 oz of protein plus veggies & maybe some rice

    Snack
    2. Carrots & hummus (homemade with no tahini), or
    3. Cheese stick and almonds, or
    4. 1/2 avocado with hot sauce, or
    5. 1/2 C Cottage cheese with hot sauce or pepper

    Dinner

3-4oz meat, veggies, and very minimal carbs, usually sweet potato or a little rice

    Snack:
    1. Rice cake & 1T peanut butter, or
    2. 1 piece bread soaked in egg whites (make "french toast") & 1 T peanut butter, or
    3. 1/2 frozen banana (cut into slices before freezing), with 1 T warmed up peanut butter

I listed options because I think sometimes when we eat the same thing all the time, our bodies get used to it. Personally, I tend to resent dieting when I have to eat the same thing all the time, so I'll move around my macros if I feel like I need a "treat". I've been on diets where I eat the same macros daily and done well, but I've also done well on diets where one day is high fat, low carb and the next day is high carb, low fat.

I'm 4'11", 107 lbs (100 lbs when I'm eating the above diet), try to stay around 1300-1400 calories/day, work out 5 days/week to burn at least 500 calories/day. That's of course when I'm 100% on track, which I'm not right now.

I'm new to this forum but have been using the MFP app on and off for a few years. I just turned 38. I've had a lot of ups and downs with my fitness over the last few years. I'm on the "down" part right now but am trying to get it together before vacation in mid-May.

Coming here for a little inspiration.

I have to stay pretty fit for my job, but I also end up having to take off several days in a row from the gym for my job, and I have to eat out with clients a lot, and they typically don't eat real healthy. It's hard to balance eating right with not embarrassing them by eating too healthy in front of them.

I need to be more committed to going to the gym despite a difficult work schedule.

Happy Monday after springing forward. Ugh
What have you done today? I've searched through garbage for a drawing that my son made that found its way there. The joys of being a mom. It's a beauty of a day here time to get outside!

Hi, I joined this a long time ago, but never used the community. I decided to start logging my food this morning, and also going to start running, especially now that the weather is getting warmer. In the last 2 years I lost then regained 40 lbs, so I'm ready to lose it again for good!

Well I almost wasn't treated at physio because I've recently been on a plane. I could be asymptomatic. I asked if the boss had been to the store to buy toilet paper cause she could have been exposed and be asymptomatic too. I get there's more risk of contact with more people but I didn't travel to an affected area. I've educated myself, I took all the precautions recommended. If people are this scared then why not just close shop until it blows over

Tell them that you took precautions and are well versed in "social distancing". I'm going to overuse that word, I just know it. :D
