Stocking up on what??

Nothing particular. We usually have well stocked staples cupboards.1

I did grocery shopping early (yesterday afternoon vs Sunday morning) and got about double what I normally do, but I work in Healthcare, my husband works remotely and we're about to have 5 or 6 of us home constantly, 4 of whom are teenagers. I didn't hoard, but I did prepare.5

Canned foods and ammo...lol5

not stocking up on ammo - if I'm in isolation with my husband for 14 days, temptation to shoot him might be too great
* joking. - I never buy ammo and do not own a gun.17 -

lol we were just joking yesterday after we saw the craziness hit our area that we always have plenty of ammo we could trade for food...then today we see some idiot on our local shooters forum wanting to swap cheapo toilet paper for mags and accessories!! crazy world right now..

I ran into the store yesterday a.m. for just a couple things, my big trip being today. I couldn't believe how busy it was. People's carts were over-flowing and workers were stocking shelves as quickly as they could. And my store is just 1 of 3 family-owned small supermarkets; I live in a rather small town of 5-6K.
Since I posted this question, my outlook has shifted a little bit. I'm more afraid of being in public like this than running out of canned foods, KWIM? So while I always have some spare food in the cupboards/freezer anyways, I'll buy what we normally eat(no Spaghettios or Dinty Moore Beef Stew here Lol) but maybe just a little extra to keep me out of the stores 2-3 times a week. I'm seeing places like Walmart and grocery stores as germ carriers now. There is LITTLE personal spacing in these places with these kinds of crowds.
People are still out and about but they are cancelling a whole lot more in all our local areas.
And really, WTH is up with disagrees?? I know people can be a bit ridiculous punching the button sometimes but I look back at some of the posts with disagree and I'm SMH. My OP had 4 of them and I can only think it's because I mentioned TP?? Which, for the record, was just a facetious comment. I have exactly 10 rolls of TP on hand. To any disagree-er who needs to know. Instead of pushing that button, go wash your hands and do something useful.15 -
So this is what I know bc I work in a grocery store: tp rubbing alcohol, cough syrup, hand sanitizer, isopropyl alcohol, all bread, eggs, pb, are empty zones6

And all Gatorade3

Please don’t hoard! It doesn’t help anything and can hurt those who really need it. Yes you always need more than one roll of TP in the house but you don’t need dozens more than you normally keep on hand.10

Coffee and wine 😉7

I, for one, am not. In fact, I only have a bit more than normal, of anything, on hand.
When I went shopping this a.m., they had no disinfectant wipes at all and nothing even remotely close to it. No cleaning sprays with bleach in them. They didn't even have the dispensers placed out front when you go into the store, to grab a wipe to wipe your cart handle. As soon as I noticed that, I'm thinking uh-oh, this can't be good. But they're still loaded with most everything else. I did see 1 family shopping with 2 carts filled to the brim with t.p. and Ramen noodles. I picked up some Tylenol because we never have any on hand and figured this'd be as good a time as any to get some. I bought extra Benadryl for my dog who's suffering lately from her allergies. And dh asked me to pick up extra Cheetos and Swanson Pot Pies(gag) to stock the freezer with.
Hopefully, it'll be all unnecessary.3 -
Not really stocking up on anything. Normally have about 10-14 days of non perishable foods on hand anyway. As far as TP, my shower is right next to the toilet. If necessary, I can always step into the shower to rinse my butt.6

Wow, that seems a very defensive reaction to people disagreeing with you.
Perhaps they disagreed with the idea of promoting stock piling at a time like this because over buying when there are already shortages just makes the shortages worse for everyone?

Kombucha, fruit flavored sparkling waters, sugarfree gum, honey dial soap for that fresh feeling. Bacon, bacon, bacon. Tomatoes, avocados and swiss cheese. Mestemacher protein bread...Almond, Walnut, Carrot. Horseradish and dill pickles. Hot mustard and dried herbs for cooking. I already had some dehydrated meals for backpacking. Tinned fishes, jerky. Olives. Powdered coconut milk, powdered milk. Canned vege. Dried fruits. Coffee, tea and cocoa. Oatmeal, barley, rye. Grits. Most of these things I always have on hand but I added some fresh produce, butter and olive oil. My freezer is full of fish because of ice fishing and we process our beef locally.
Here's who I'm thinking about. The elderly who live in a walk-up in NYC without an elevator and their shelves have been wiped clean. The homeless living in cardboard boxes under an overpass or sleeping on the sidewalks. Children living in shelters or sleeping in a car. I'm thinking about all of the people who don't have anything or a pillow to lay their heads on. Single people without anyone to check upon them. These are the things and people that I really care about. I will be checking in on some senior people around me. I will share what I have. That is all.12 -
If I would stock up anything it would be to prepare for the collapse of our economical system ...
I would then stock up wares that the last time it collapsed in Europe (1920's and after WW II) replaced money as currency:
Precious metals, jewelry, chocolate, coffee, gasoline (In this order).
And now I will sit down in front of the market watching people cartwheeling out brass, cheap watches, sweets and Nescafe ... pretending that they are fulfilling my "recommendation"4 -
We live out of town but we still do grocery shopping once a week.Well, even in Italy, they can shop normally without hoarding. I feel sorry for the poors and the poor old people who live from week to week. They go to the shops and they can't get basic essential things to survive. If people don't hoard , everyone will be able to buy what they need any time. .6

My OH keeps joking about now being the time to get an AR-15. (I know he's joking because assault weapons are illegal to buy in our state. I'm former military and I'm happy with that.)1 -
Rice, peanut butter, beans( canned and dry), tuna, soymilk, chicken, frozen vegetables, raisins, cereal, oats1

Sorry if I came off sounding like a witch but this thing is getting to me. As I'm sure it is for everyone else. I'm extremely worried about my dd who lives in Seattle. I'm feeling scared, anxious, frustrated, housebound, helpless, paranoid, and feel like snapping at everything and everyone. Must be time to double up my meds. Plus I always tend to take things totally personal too. Sorry. I really am a nice person. Just ask my dh. Well maybe not.17 -
