I will get caught with everyone tomorrow. I’m exhausted. Slept like crap, drove 2.5 hours round trip to get my new weight set. Then put it together and walked my dogs. I also did my 80 Day Obsession stretch and release. But I’m SOOOO excited to use these!! I’m in love. 😍😍

Pedmom Jill - Those weights are pretty bad *kitten*!
Gela 130 - My husband had surgery on his right arm, his dominant side of course. It has healed well and now he is working on strengthening the tendon. Thanks for asking! My kids are 16, 9,7 and 3. Bedtimes have become pretty late since isolation which means I cannot seem to settle until the wee hours of the morning. Lol!

Since my prior "restart" at 1200 calories did not go so well in regards to losing weight, I decided to increase my calories to 1600. However, while the scale did not move, I had to have repeat blood work done for my triglycerides and I am proud to say that by cutting down on some carbs and replacing all sugary soda with water, iced tea, and the occasional Zero cherry coke, I cut those bad boys down by 100 points! The last go round, I also did not eat breakfast. It saved calories for the larger meals with my family and I am usually not hungry in the mornings. Has anyone found that breakfast seemed to help with their weight loss as opposed to a morning fast?1

I do log in daily what I eat on the app...which really helps me out a lot. I would love for us to be able to do virtual workouts, share recipes..anything to help keep us on track. I look forward to becoming friends with you all. Let’s push each other...
Glad you are joining- you seem like you will be a motivating source for me- I am not in texas tho- omaha, nebraska here:)0 -

My husband does the cooking so I struggle because the only things I like to cook are high calorie, high carb, comfort food casseroles. So all else fails I make scrambled eggs. It's just as easy for me to drink a protein shake..🙄 I know I need to exercise more, mostly because I have a desk job and that's just not healthy. I need to find a goal fitness wise or I just dont have the motivation.
Do you have an activity tracker? An hourly movement goal is nice for desk jobs even it just gets you moving for a couple of minutes each hour. It adds up.0 -

Good morning everyone and Happy Monday! Back to the grind for me, as nothing has really changed. I work for a logistics company and we are definitely essential during this weird time.
@sweetstevens Welcome to the group, it's nice to meet you. I'm sorry to hear about your medical struggles, but good for you for not giving up. I can relate to the emotional desire for carbs, oy. You have a lot of good exercises listed so I hope you can find a way to fit in your "me" time. Those results since increasing calories are great! I do intermittent fasting, but not on purpose lol. I am not a morning eater at all. I eat breakfast at 11am, lunch at about 2:30 and dinner at about 6:30. Then I have a snack at 7pm and I'm done for the day.
@copernicus0001 I'm the one that replied to you and this is the great group I joined! I'm glad you found us. Just be warned, this is mostly ladies and we will probably talk about "lady issues" lol. Hopefully you can skim over those. Are you using both Noom and MFP?
@tiff0277 Good for you for passing on the candy! It's not easy for sure.
@lakeshawas3129 We are about the same weight with the same-ish goal. I am from Wisconsin, but I have a friend that lives in Tyler, TX. I have visited a few times. The biggest thing I remember about DFW is how funny it was to me that everything is closed on Sunday! They had taken me to the airport and we were going to do some shopping first, but all the stores were closed lol. Then I got snowed in and spent the night at the DFW airport. And it was my birthday and the Packers were in the Superbowl and I missed it. But I still went back for another visit !
@tigerlily8045 My soulmate---I love to bake. It's just me and my son though, so I do have to cook also. And I have had to give up most of my baking because I don't want to eat it. I also have a desk job. I have my Fitbit set to give me hourly reminders to get up and that helps a little. But I have to make the effort to actually do a workout every day.
@gela130 I did enjoy the rest of my Sunday, thank you. It was nice to just relax a little after running around all day. And I carried all those weights from the garage to the basement so I even sort of worked out lol. And thanks, I LOVE my gym area. At my age (54) I've been collecting fitness stuff for decades haha. This set and rack is my first major purchase since I bought my elliptical machine in about 2010.
Speaking of working out, it's noon so time for my workout. Today is Booty day with Autumn and 80 Day Obsession.
Have a good afternoon all!1 -
Wow! I hate falling behind in group; I missed so much just over the weekend. It's overwhelming trying to catch up, so I'll just start from here and comment on your posts going forward. Sorry
This weekend was rough for me. I ate over my calorie budget Fri, Sat and Sun. My husband says I look sexy, but personally I'm not where I want to be yet. So I go back and forth... My husband is happy with me (so eat what I want) or I'm not there yet (so stay in budget). This weekend my evil side won. I'm just so tired of eating 1200 calories a day!! Once I hit my goal, I better not have to eat 1200 calories to maintain or I'll cry. In the end it will be worth it, but my goodness I miss eating what I want and when I want it.2 -

I reply more during the day while at my desk since I have two screens. I have the thread open on both screens and it makes it much easier.😊
Have you tried calorie cycling? It might help you not feel deprived. So you’d have 1,000 calories for two days and have 400 “banked” to use the third day. Just an idea that I’ve done with carbs in the past.
I used my new weights and love them, yay! I also got to use my 20 pound kettlebell today. It’s been collecting dust since I started Beachbody workouts last October.0 -
Hello! I would love to join and have a place of accountability! I’m 51 and I have been on so many different diets. I would love to just loose 25 lbs and never gain it back:) please add me.2

Guys..............I'm not seeing many accountability posts here! This is turning into my blog instead of a group. Please post!
I did my 80 Day Obsession workout at noon-Cardio Core. If you're not familiar, you do 3 minutes of jumpy cardio and then some abs. Multiple times......today's was 43 minutes including warmup and cool down. I HATE cardio, but I know I need it........
I hope you all haven't given up on our group!0 -

Hi, I am 47, 165 lbs. I just stated “21 day fix extreme” hope to loos 10lbs1

@PedmomJill Thanks for the great ideas! I will definitely try the calorie cycling. I'll also start checking on the group at work. It's just to hard to keep up with all of the members if you do it once a day or every other day. Also, I LOVE your new weight set! PS... I hate cardio too lol. I even have a workout t-shirt that says "YAY Cardio! Says no one ever"
Hello @wendyron3 and @nuriav1 Welcome to our group Hope to hear more from you!
Last night I did one of my new TaeBo dvd workouts. I have the original workouts on vhs tape (which I LOVE), but I don't have a vhs player anymore. Too bad they aren't the same. Oh well, it still kicks my butt which is good.1 -

Welcome! Regular 21DF was my first BOD program. I was happy when it was over cuz man, doing the same thing three weeks in a row was so boring! I’ll try the real times at some point. 👍🏼
@healthytink I hope I didn’t sound mean! I need that shirt. I just dread the cardio days so much. I can’t wait for warm bicycling weather so I can sub some of it. Thanks, I love my new set, too. Such a smart design for space savings and ease of use. I love that I can put my hand right in the middle to grab the weights.1 -
Hi Ladies, how is everyone doing today??
I'm slowly ramping up my weekly running mileage and building base for marathon training that starts late May. I'm due to run my 1st marathon in Chicago in the fall. But, with this pandemic I'm not sure if the race will happen. Berlin Marathon that was scheduled for September was cancelled today, so that's a bummer as Chicago might follow similar path.
I'm cutting down on some snacking last 4 days and I'm proud of that. I said 'NO' to chips, pretzels, left over Easter candy, nuts, etc. I feel a lot of snacking lately is due to "boredom eating" because of isolation and social distancing. I still managed to sneak in some junk food last few days (pizza, fries) but I logged it and enjoyed it. I tend to eat healthy and I cook most of my meals but putting crazy restrictions will only lead to overeating, so I rather satisfy the beast with small amounts of not-so-healthy foods.
A lot of people are doing Beachbody workouts...those are great and tough! I throw in single workouts on my cross-training days from BOD or Pure Barre on demand.
Taebo, holy moly, I did the original workout in college, wore down the VCR Oldie but goodie0 -
Thank you for welcoming me to your group!
@PedmomJill
@gela130 Yes - I am using both Noom and MFP at this time. I think MFP is a far superior application for any data driven activities - logging meals, activities, weights and measurements, etc. Noom's strength lies in having both a "Group Coach" and a "Goal Specialist" that interact with the participants. In the group setting the strengths are only as good as the group's participation and dynamics. A group with very little participation does not work too well. The group coach asks a question or poses a task (like posting a photo of a colorful meal). She tries to get the ball rolling in the group thread. The group coach posts once a day, M-F. The goal specialist's role seems to be to ask a goal related question of the individual once a week and pose another question on a weekly basis. It's value seems to be in the self-examination process that transpires when answering a question. Unfortunately, the responses and queries from the goal specialist and group coach are quite scripted and probably applicable independent of a group or individual's response. Hopefully this setting in MFP proves to be a much better method for mutual encouragement.
@PedmomJill Your new weights look great as does your exercise setup. Sounds like you had a great workout too - it is tough to do something you really don't feel like doing, but the feeling of accomplishment afterward as well as the benefits of the workout hopefully put a smile on your face.
@healthytink Everyone will have ups and downs in their quest to achieve a goal. Stick with it... It may take some time to recover from the "rough weekend", but in the long run you will be much happier when you achieve your goal. ...and your husband will be much happier too since he will see joy and happiness shine from you as you attain your goal.
So, an accountability post...
I guess first I need to determine to what metrics do I want hold myself accountable. I really am new to dieting and structured exercise... I would also say that dieting is not the correct word to reflect what I am trying to implement. My goals are to improve my health via the development of improved eating habits and incorporating a habitual exercise routine into my daily life. I feel, if I think of what I am doing as "dieting", there is a subconscious assumption that the process will end with implicit permission to revert to old detrimental habits. I need to change my relationship with food so that the changes I make that create a healthier me are permanent.
Oddly enough, this pandemic we find ourselves in has been a boon to improving my eating habits. Typically I found myself eating at either restaurants or social gatherings nearly every night of the week. Poker nights, sailing nights, Friday fish frys (probably the healthiest night of the week), etc... and the typical poker night fare was pizza, tacos, doughnuts, chocolate dipped crullers (oh so good!), and a bag full of burgers from McDonalds or Hardees or Burger King. Everyone would bring something and there was always a table filled with an absolute ton of junk food. My biggest challenge will be avoiding the wrong food choices as social distancing restrictions begin to ease.
My approach so far has been a combination of intermittent fasting with a keto approach to food selection. I have been eating only in the evenings once a day. Generally I find myself having something to eat around 7-8 pm and sometimes a snack later in the evening as well, but nothing after midnight. My magic elixir has been coffee! I was never a coffee drinker, but started drinking far too much soda in college (4-5 cans before 10 am). I have tried to quash that habit and have struggled to do so, however I find drinking a large mug of black coffee in the morning dispels any feeling of hunger I may have in the morning.
I am going to take a few days to determine what metrics I will use to maintain accountability. I have also been exceptionally busy with work - and wasn't expecting a global pandemic to crop up just as I was initiating a transformation of my daily eating and and exercise paradigm - so fitting MFP into my schedule is taking quite a bit of effort, but I am glad to be here.
Thank you again for your warm welcome. I look forward to sharing this path with all of you.

@foodie4run Congrats on getting ready for your first marathon. I wish you the best of luck and hope it isn't cancelled. Also, great job on cutting down on snacks. I can definitely relate to boredom eating as well as stress eating. If it wasn't for tracking calories, it would be the death of me.
@copernicus0001 I agree with you 100% on Noom. That's what I started this journey with on 12/3/19. I liked reading the articles at first and was looking forward to a lot of support from my group mates and coaches. However, my group was hardly active, so I didn't get much out of it. Then I had my personal coach. What a joke! I honestly thought it was an automated response system, so I changed coaches. The next was a smidge better but not by much. I do have to give it props though. I lost about 30 lbs using it. My biggest win was learning I didn't have to restrict or deprive myself of any food as long as I fit it into my calorie budget. Now that I have all the knowledge, I'm looking forward to the group support on MFP. I still have a month or so left on Noom, but I'm a full-time MFP user now I look forward to seeing what you come up with as far as accountability. Hopefully, we can help keep you on track. I need to think of specifics as well in order to get the most out of this.
Tonight I plan on doing TaeBo again. Last week I did it 2 days in a row, and it killed me. So for now, every other day is what I'm shooting for with walking on the treadmill in between.

@foodie4run Good for you for passing on the snacks. That's really hard for me, too. And yes, 100% I'm struggling with it more out of boredom. I also agree with you on their needing to be a balance. That old 80/20 we've all heard about so many times. Pizza is my favorite, but I only have it about once a month now. I just know if I eat too much of that stuff, as you said, it can get out of control. Boredom has caused me to do clean out a lot of closets and drawers since we've been stuck at home though so I guess that's good. It's been fun to take all of my too-big clothes out of my bedroom.
@copernicus0001 Funny thing-I used to live on Copernicus Way in Madison. I have heard other people complain that Noom offers all of this "personal coaching" but it seems like computerized responses. I think it's a waste of money because basically you can Google what they are going to tell you! And you are so right about the feeling when your workout is done. I work from home and take a break at noon to exercise. Today is the second day this week that I was too busy with work to do it. Now I have to make sure I do it right after work before starting anything else. I don't like procrastinating it but sometimes work does have to come first. For a few months I got up early and did it before work, but that got too hard-I am not one to get up at 5am lol.
You are so right about the shelter in place helping with eating healthier. Socializing is the hardest thing for me with trying to keep weight off. It's hard not to feel deprived when you see everyone else eating the "bad" food you want. I'm hoping that my good habits are going to be instilled enough by then to help me resist.
@healthytink Wow, your Noom experience sounds a lot like my Weight Watchers experience. I won't bad mouth them because the program really helped me lose weight. I started 09/23 and have lost 45 pounds as of today. But, on 04/12 I started putting some of my diary days into MFP and was shocked at how low my calories were. LIke 800 a day! I just don't feel like that is healthy or sustainable at all, especially not with exercising for an hour almost every day. I also have about another month that is paid for, and I am also pretty much not using it at all. I sort of transitioned-I entered my food in both places last week to keep comparing. The biggest plus for me with WW was the in-person meetings. I really enjoyed them a lot, and now they won't be having any until about June 1st, and that's assuming it doesn't get extended further. So I really see no benefit to pay for it. Their social media platform is terrible, too. It's very hard to search for things or people, and you can't have group threads like this easily. I think just checking in here daily is a great way to keep yourself accountable. Because let's face it, this is up to each of US to do - nobody else is going to do it for us. (Unless someone here is secretly a wealthy celebrity with a cook and personal trainer lol.)
I said to copernicus that I had to skip my noon workout. At the time, I was working on a work project and wanted to finish. The problem is if I don't do it at noon, I have to wait until afterwards. My boss is in another state and I've told him i'll be gone for that hour. So if he should call me later and I don't answer, well, I don't want him to think I'm slacking.
So today will be Total Body Core from 80 Day Obsession. Two days in a row with CORE in the name! Ack!

It sounds like everyone responding is continuing to make efforts to change their minds and bodies! The progress in your stories are wonderful! I remember Tae Bo! Some of these programs sound so difficult. I am sorry that I am not able to really push you all in regards to those programs. I hope I can encourage you guys but not sound like a complete hypocrite. You all have come so far - look at what you have accomplished! You can do this last push to make it to your goal!!!
Time for me to carve out my *ACCOUNTABILITY*.
I need to strive for consistency. While I have been walking, I haven't been consistent with distance or pace. I have an old FitBit that does not sync anymore. Apparently, there was some kind of little device that came with it that has been misplaced or tossed during our moves. However, it still can count steps and keep track of my heart rate, so I will use that for monitoring my walks. I also have downloaded the Map My Walk App that I can use to determine distance on the routes around my house so I know how far a 1 mile/2 mile walk will take me (as opposed to calling my husband again when I found myself too tired and too far away from home. lol!)
*I will start walking two miles a day. My average target hear rate will be 130 bpm.
*Every walk, I will devote four minutes to Santana's "Oye Como Va"; so I can swing my hips and really focus on tightening my core muscles because strengthening those muscles will help me become stronger and because it is a hell of a lot of fun!
*I will stretch with every walk.
I am glad that some here have found isolation helpful with their diet. My issue has been that we are trying to limit our exposure with a weekly grocery store run. However, our refrigerator is not equipped to hold all the food I would like to have in the house for myself and my family. I had become a bit of a slacker and eating the meals that I was making for the kids and also eating out of dealing with the stress of life around me...trying to be a teacher, activity organizer, cafeteria worker, and counselor for my husband and children. I have taken the time to make myself a separate meal when needed and managed not to eat any of my children's leftovers for the past two days.
*I will commit to eating 1600 calories and not eating back my exercise calories. I will work on increasing my water intake to at least 48 ounces (even though I know I should be drinking even more, I have struggled with drinking water since chemo. Some days it still is off putting to me).

@sweetstevens regarding the Fitbit, you should be able to sync with your smart phone. You just have to download the Fitbit app. You only need the single to sync with your computer. I hope that helps!0

@italysharon @PedmomJill @gela130 @donnamharris2014 @healthytink and everyone in this thread..I need this!
I’m 42, 5ft 6 and 175 (started at 180) but last July I was 162! Yo yo much? My goal is 145 for a healthy BMI (and to be honest, vanity). I ride my peloton 5 days a week and I am starting to run again. I need some motivation to say no to rosé and track my calories in earnest. I also need to get back to strength training. Would love to be a part of a group with similar healthy goals and struggles!

@ktdoraohara Welcome! You already lost 5 lbs so that's a great start. Congrats! It is true when they say 75% of weight loss is diet and our food choices. I struggle with this so much especially since I'm pretty active and I feel that gives me permission to eat a lot more. Reality check for me, nope. It's awesome you have Peloton bike, I've been dropping hints to my hubby to get one for Xmas. Do you like yours?
@sweetstevens Your plan and goals are solid. Walking is such great exercise. It is easy on the joints, it is effective, it burns calories and it is good for the soul when done outside. I love to run but walking is my second favorite.
Today, I started the day with walking the dog then dropped her off at home and went for a 4 mile neighborhood run. It was easy pace since I'm sore from yesterday's strength workout. I love how grass is turning green, flowers are starting to bloom, birds are chirping and there is Spring in the air. Amidst this coronavirus pandemic I try to notice and appreciate the little things that we take for granted.

Hi can I join?!🙌🏻 please? I have 8lbs to lose and I’m miserable was meant to be getting married in May ... now it’s next May which is fine but I’ve just been eating rubbish! Tracked yesterday and tracked today and I’m on this ! X1

@ktdoraohara LOL I am your co-queen of yo yo weight! Saying no to wine is not easy, especially these days. I used to have a glass every night to "help me sleep". LOL that is really how I justified it. But I have weaned off now and with the shelter in place, I haven't had any alcohol at all in over a month. It is much easier when you can't socialize! For weights, you could check out Cathe Friedrich. She is having live workouts on Facebook several times every day, for free. She is amazing and I have a LOT of her dvd workouts. I'm more into Beachbody now, but if you don't want to commit to that, her live classes could be good. Her gym is called Four Seasons Health Club and is in Glassboro, NJ, so you can find it if you want to.
@foodie4run Sometimes pain is good lol. The instructor in my workout the other day said "No pain, no gain, now shut up and train!" Made me laugh. I agree about spring---it's so nice to see the grass greening up! I had to cut my grass once already and with all the rain we've had in SE WI this week, it looks like it will need it again. I don't mind, it only takes about an hour and is good exercise. What I don't enjoy outside is gardening-like weeding and trimming. Ugh. But it all has to be done.
@Helenmarshall5636 Of course, welcome!! The more the merrier I'm so sorry your wedding has been postponed. That is terrible. There are just so many bad things that have happened due to Covid 19. I'm trying to focus on the positives that counteract the negatives, like having more time to workout and cook healthy meals.
My workout today was 80 Day Obsession Legs. Yep, nothing but legs. I actually like leg day but today was harder than the first four weeks of the program. I'm afraid I'll be doing the DOMS limping dance tomorrow haha.1 -
Hoping a quick update before dinner will help me from over eating. My husband made home made pizza and it is always so delicious. I usually devour two slices instantly and then crave more, hold off for 10 minutes, then eat another slice...then eat my kids leftover crusts. Then I input the calories into MFP and my jaw drops to the floor. Ok. I know how many calories are in a slice and I know that I need to space out my eating so I can start feeling full after the first slice. Ok, I am going to eat a sclice, then eat a small low cal salad and then eat my second piece. Ok. I'm going in...2

I hope you did okay. When I know I’m going to have a big dinner, I put my whole day’s food in right away in the morning. It gives me an idea of where I will end up, and helps me stay on track. 😊
