Finally starting to get happier but....

My old stretchmarks are really getting to me... self conscious about them.
I know they are always going to be there and I’m never going to get rid of them.
I’m maybe being abit stupid but is there a way to ‘mask’ them.

If you have the means, you could see a dermatologist. There are treatments that can reduce their appearance, though it can be pricey. And they generally will become less noticeable on their own with time (not sure how long you've had them).2

Well, perhaps a tattoo artist could suggest some ink for that area? 🤷🏿♀️ Personally, I think it looks fine... positively rugged even!12

I did actually think about this, but if I get something I don’t like then I maybe regret it more! Something to think about though thank you!1 -
Think of them as hard earned battle scars.19

Surgery is one option, quite drastic.
I've heard conflicting info on the effect of laser treatments on stretch marks, but it's certainly less invasive than surgery.0 -
Laser might be an option! Thank you0

Personally, I think you look great, and I don't think the stretch marks take away from you.3

I agree. If you had just posted the pic without mentioning them I wouldn't have even noticed. I do understand that we all (not everyone) have things about ourselves we dislike, so I'm not dismissing your concerns.5 -
I think they don't look terrible. Think of them as a badge of success and accomplishment.3

I think you look great, we're our own worst enemies. You'd be really grossed out by mine!1

Thank you so much! That means a lotI think you look great, we're our own worst enemies. You'd be really grossed out by mine!
Thank you I wouldn’t say that mine gross me out, just it’s a reminder of bad memories for me0 -
Back again! Quarantine was a bad time for me. 😩
155lbs still but lost a little muscle (in my opinion) working on ramping up the calories and lifting heavier1 -
We all have things about our looks that bug us, but nobody else notices or cares. Can you improve your situation? That's what I'd look into without anything drastic or expensive. You might want to check out some of the ladies threads on stretch marks because they discuss them at length. Bio Oil is judged to help + just time. My impression is that they aren't that noticeable from your pics. As you mentioned it's a mental thing, reminding you of your past. You might want to address that so you're happier with yourself. Congrats, by the way, on losing.5

Sorry to hear you've been having a bad time in quarantine. I hope things are improving for you now. You look great in my opinon, and not a stretch mark to be seen on that photo! (Letting your chest hair grow is clearly a good strategy and cheaper than any dermatological treatment.)4 -
I have to admit, your stretch marks weren't the first thing I noticed. Sometimes we're our own worst enemies and are harder on ourselves than on others. Since you've already gotten advice I'm not replying for that purpose. But to agree with everyone that said You Look Great!4

Thank you all for the positive feedback
Agreed letting the hair grow back does hide it a little! Lol
Learning to love what I have more everyday!4 -
Can't even see them in the second pic! They are very neat. If anyone asks, I'd just say you had a fight with a tiger (and won!)4
-
I don't see anything in the last photo. Palmers cocoa butter can be found in any grocery/drugstore.1
-
I prefer the natural look of the second photo, with the hair. I don't even care one way or the other about stretch marks or scars, on anyone.3

Lol! I might just use that!Diatonic12 wrote: »I don't see anything in the last photo. Palmers cocoa butter can be found in any grocery/drugstore.

Stumbled up on a before picture (which I thought I deleted) 😐 taken me a good few hours to pluck up the courage to upload this. But this is something I needed to do for myself.
At my heaviest 232lbs and at the peak of my very unhealthy lifestyle
I am so glad I actioned getting in shape when I did! Kind of a massive motivational boost when I look at it now9 -
In the first pic the stretch marks almost look like a claw mark. Like you got in a fight with a tiger and lived to tell the story.
If you go for a tattoo, put some thought & research in. Choose a good tattoo artist. Discuss w/ him or her what you want and have them do a rendering. You'll probably need to put a downpayment in for their time on that. It will be worth it. If it turns out you're not happy with their skill or artistic insight, it will be money well spent to know you need to find someone else.
Here are my daughter's tattoos. The forest/moon tat hides a scar - it is under one of the trees. She is 20 now but when she was about 11-12 she thought it would be a good idea to use an empty glass aquarium (upside down) to use as a stool to reach something on a high shelf. She was wrong.

Damn dude! That's a serious transformation there! Nice work, man! Congrats on the accomplishment!
I mean, a few stretch marks that will probably get better over time versus the before? Yeah that's a win...3 -
Stretch marks or no, hair or no, you just look fit, healthy and pretty hot to me. You are overthinking it, there is nothing for you to be concerned about, you have done a brilliant job in getting into really good shape. You should be very proud of yourself.4

Gotta say, the photo with the hair makes them impossible to see. If anything, between the muscle and leanness, the hair, and the fact that scars on guys can look sexy. I wouldn’t change a thing or give it a second thought. Keep doing what you’re doing. The results are super impressive. 👏👏1

My daughter has some scars on her arms and wrists from self-harming when she was a teenager.
She doesn't like them but she doesn't hide them either. They are part of who she is now and a sign of how far she has come. If people notice and enquire she explains them honestly and without shame.
You have made a remarkable transformation, be proud of your battle scars as they tell a good story.3 -
