Belly fat?

Hi there! I’m new to this forum and have been stuck at a number for years after having 3 kids. I need to get past that number to get into a healthy BMI- it’s not just the last few “vanity pounds” that are stuck! I am now exercising daily and have been eating clean and paleo for years. Now that I’ve started tracking for 2 weeks (lost 2 lbs the first week and none the second) I see that I have a very high fat content, mainly because it’s programmed in my head that healthy fats are good for weight loss and especially belly fat loss. That’s the area that hasn’t changed for me.
Anyone have success with belly fat loss by cutting fat and essentially following a low fat diet? I’m upping fiber to see as well. I currently eat some grains and beans (rice and quinoa and chickpeas) but other than that it’s mostly veggies, fruits and meats. Minimal nuts and seeds (very sparingly). The fats are coming from olive oil, avocado oil, flax, eggs and coconut milk and oil as well as the occasional tahini or pumpkin seeds. Thanks!

Unfortunately you can't spot reduce where you want. Keep losing weight and it will come off where it wants too. Belly is usually the last place for most people.

No. The only way to remove fat is by calorie deficit, you cant spot reduce, you have to wait for that fat to disappear as you go1

You can't spot reduce where you lose weight. You just have to hope the weight comes off where you like it to. My stomach always is the last place I lose weight.1

Cutting fat does not lead to fat loss unless it puts you in a calorie deficit. You do need a certain amount of fat to be healthy though. And for many it can help with fullness.
This thread is very helpful

Thanks all-
I guess the confusing thing is that I haven’t been able to lose weight with a calorie deficiency. I guess the new question is if shifting macros has helped get past a plateau?2 -
To lose weight, you need to create a calorie deficit, like @KrissFlavored said. It doesn't matter if you choose to eat high fats, as long as you stay within a calorie deficit. High fat makes it a little harder to create a calorie deficit, because fats are 9 calories per gram, and protein and carbs are 4 calories per gram.
You don't get to choose where you lose the body fat from first, however. For most women, the stomach fat is the last to go.4 -

Shifting macros by itself doesn't help get past a plateau. It may help with maintaining a calorie deficit or with satiety.
If you think you are in a calorie deficit and not losing weight than that begs questions like, you current height and weight? Maintenance calories and deficit amount? Are you weighing everything with a food scale and logging accurately. Those last 2 items are usually where the issue lies.3 -
I am willing to bet that you are eating more than you think.
If you were to open up your food diary, people would be able to assist you with how to more accurately log.
With so little left to lose, you are going to need to be extremely accurate.2 -
Ok thanks. I’ll start weighing my food. I thought I was pretty accurate as I don’t count all my exercise calories. But it’s possible!4
