I shaved 37 seconds off my time for getting up the big hill in the middle of my running route! My goal has been to get up it in less than 8 minutes and I crushed it today!

Man, I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed bicycling. It’s like being a little kid again. I get this big sloppy grin on my face and can’t stop smiling, from beginning to end. I bet I look like a happy lunatic.
Next time you go, try the gears. Keep your cadence steady and use the gears to you don't hurt your knees.
Bicycling is AWESOME.
A friend has a bike with an internally-geared hub with infinite gear ratios. I told him he must ALWAYS be able to find just the perfect gear. He said actually it's the opposite; with such fine adjustments, he is NEVER in exactly the right gear. You may find if you go to a low gear and "spin," you get a good workout but it's easier on those joints. Get it!5 -
I started C25K today - that's my most recent NSV.
For context: I was indeed a couch potato for over 20 years. I used to loathe the idea of exercising. Then I started doing pilates and realized I liked it. Then I joined MFP and realized losing weight wasn't an impossible thing. Then I started walking daily and realized I really liked it. Now I'm doing C25K, even though running is something I never ever considered doing.
This is proving to be a process full of surprises and enlightenment.27 -
I put on my first ever two piece swimsuit today. By normal girls standards they would probably be horrified to take this body to the beach in a two piece, and ain’t gonna lie I’m more than a little scared myself, but this is a big deal to me. This is a size 10/12 body that was once a size 26.

Took all my XXL and XL clothes to Goodwill today. Good riddance!31

After a a week or so of hitting the chocolate hard I seem to have turned a corner and have been craving fruit instead. Tonight I went to the store to buy strawberries and pineapple instead of being tempted by the remaining chocolate stash.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this happened just as the weather turned warm and sunny here. I need to find a good strategy for future rainy days!15 -
I'm starting to feel smaller. I didn't think that would ever happen. I still struggle to see it but slowly I feel better in my own skin.
I took a picture wearing last year's jeans to help remind myself.

I was digging through some old photos the other day and found a fat photo. I had completely forgotten just how big I was (as background I lost most of my weight back in 2004 and this photo is from then - although i've lost some weight this year to get back to my target weight, that's just fine tuning maintenance compared to what I lost back then). My nsv is that I realised that I don't really recognise that 2004 person as me any more.

ok this is gonna be so "what is she even talking about" but I feel like I've finally managed to shape/round out my shoulders a bit through exercise past 2 months... and I know it's probably not noticeable to anyone but me but... (same weight both photos, march on the left, may on the right)

I looked at pictures of my pre-pregnancy body and my current pregnant body side by side, and after scrutinizing them, I realized I don't really look like I've gained 20 lbs.
In the mirror, I feel huge. Even in my arms and thighs, not just my belly. But if you put the pictures next to one another and were to just draw a line down my belly, not much has changed except for the belly.
Keeping my fingers crossed that its mostly baby and fluids. But even if I have gained a bit extra, a healthy baby is all that matters.
I lost 60 lbs previously. I can certainly lose 10-20 lbs again if I have to, especially if its for a good cause.
Every little baby kick or flutter is a steadfast reminder of why weight gain is not always the end of the world (as mentally challenging as it is.)19 -

My midwife did tell me that I'm gaining a little bit more than the charts suggest, but that my rate of gain has been steady, and with how active I've been, that she's not worried about it and it should come off just fine
She said every pregnancy is different and the weight gain suggestion is just that, a suggestion, not a one-size-fits-all.
It's just really hard to not imagine this as me undoing all of my hard work. Gaining weight is even harder than losing weight. At least, mentally it is, for me.11 -
My NSV is that my toes felt cold last night! My feet only get cold like that when I'm in a deficit.11

I had to put on "real" clothes for the first time in 9 weeks yesterday and found that the old pants that have been on my "too-small shelf" are no longer too small, and in fact are too big. It left me in a bit of a quandry because I assumed those were the pants I was going to move into next! You can really lose track of what's going on with your body when you wear stretchy pajamas/workout clothes 24/7 for weeks at a time!26

I don't drive much these days - and today I noticed my gut was quite a bit farther from the steering wheel.15

Very nice, I can see a difference. The shoulder is a little rounder and the arm looks more toned. Great work!3 -
Exceeded my goal of 50 jumps on my jump rope! Made it to 68 tonight! That's still not even a minute of straight jumping, but it's more than quadruple my previous "high score!"
Had to adjust the length of the rope and find a nice surface to jump on.
Next goal is 100, and after that I'll go by minutes. When I get to 5 min, I'm want to start learning some tricks! 🤹♀️

I started walking again for exercise today. Did 4600 steps on Thursday and 12000 steps Friday. My goal is to get back to doing at least 10,000 a day.25

I have a raised Garden by my house and I can reach the wall I couldn't last year because of my tummy. About 7years ago my wedding rings couldn't fit on my ring finger anymore. 😔 So I put them on my pinky finger, but now they're getting very loose on my pinky and almost fit on my ring finger again! 😁27

Visiting in laws for the weekend, no gym, one park with walking trails is literally underwater, and the last time I went walking along the highway (no shoulder, 18 wheelers everywhere) I got chased and bitten by a pack of Rottweilers. Could have stayed in the recliner w my coffee, but I got out and walked 4 miles in a big loop around their driveway. Definitely not exciting, but it did have a big hill and I got my walk in!24

I was feeling really bummed about my running because I just feel super slow. Yesterday I was doing C25K week 8 and as I was plodding along I convinced myself I get slower every week (because you go further).
Then I passed W7’s endpoint with about 3 minutes left of the podcast - so clearly I kept around the same pace!! And I reminded myself that even though 9.5-10min/km may feel like brisk walking my regular brisk walks as evidenced by my phone’s pedometer is more like 13min/km so there is a difference.13 -
This weekend is giving me many opportunities to test myself, apparently. Managed to stay on plan and pass up donuts, chips & cheese dip, pizza, homemade bread, and homemade chocolate chip cookies. I didn’t even finish my second glass of wine bc I didn’t like it enough. Hit my calorie goal (I’d been too far below over the previous 2 days, so I ate a banana—not a cookie!—to get up to calories last night).
Surprisingly not as hard passing up the junk as it usually is...trying to remind myself it will not make me feel good to eat it (digestive issues lately, seem to be improving with some diet changes).17 -

This is an important one: knowing when foods will make you feel bad and avoiding them. I have countless times done this with dairy but I’m trying to put my foot down!4 -
After a lo-o-o-o-ng hiatus, I'm shopping at Shrimpton Couture again. Cherie (the owner) is a patient peach and has never been removed from my Interac e-transfer list this entire time. Whenever I get a piece from her site, I feel like I'm stepping back in time (I stay in the 60s and 80s, for the most part).
Right now, a vintage Thierry Mugler LBD with an open back has been calling my name. I feel like I bookmarked it more than a year ago. Not only is it still available...it's now on sale!
The NSV? This little black dress is more attainable for both my body and wallet now.
(But do I need another LBD, tho? lol These are great 'problems' to have, considering the times)18 -
Ordered a large pizza yesterday. Ate 1.5 slices for lunch and 1 slice for dinner. For me, that's progress!18

I ran 2.5miles without stopping 😊🏃♀️ I struggled to get past 1 mile at the start of lockdown. It also meant I knocked 2 minutes off my 5km PB!24

My average resting rate has dropped by about 15 bpm.
It's always higher when I'm fat and/or ill, so I'm pleased to see it come down.16
