I broke up with an emotionally toxic boyfriend in October. I love him. I still do. I also was miserable for the year we were together. He reached out to me out of the blue two days ago after 7 months of silence. Mind you, I know he's tried to ask girls out between break up and now, and I know he's also been denied every time (he works with a few of my closest friends). So.. his birthday is coming up, I'm sure he's feeling lonely. My NSV is that he asked if I liked my new job, I responded "yes". He asked if I worked nights... i responded with "You lost the right to know my schedule"... and haven't heard another peep from him since. It felt SO good because I broke the habit of always going back, no matter how awful it is, because in my mind being alone was worse. NOT ANYMORE. I broke that habit, I feel good, I've lost 64 lbs and there is no looking back. Losing weight and exercising helped me realized I am worth more and I deserve more. I kinda wish I worked it so we had met up... so I can get an apology for how he treated me, but I realized months ago that apology would never come.. so I went the route I did with the he lost the right to know anything about me. Woot!67

Well done that's never easy to do. I've seen too many people struggle with same decision as a nurse.7 -
This is kind of a scale victory but I had an appointment with a doctor that I haven't seen in about 4 years and she looked at my chart and said "wow! you've lost a LOT of weight!" I've gained about 3 pounds recently so it was nice to have that affirmation from her that even though I'm up 3 lbs right now i'm down a LOT from 4 years ago.

Wore a pair of size 8 shorts tonight. I don't care right now that it's vanity sizing.... the 10s and 12s I've been wearing are vanity sized too and these are smaller!27

It's all about that trend downward!12 -
Made tacos, cheese dip, and chips for dinner. Ate salmon patty, black bean, tomato, and avocado salad. Did not eat any chips, guacamole, or cheese dip. I’ve been noticing chips at dinner = chocolate later, in inappropriate amounts. Not tonight, my sweet and salty little friends.23

Well, well done!! I find it the most difficult thing in the world, to break out of a cycle like this. I admire you for putting a stop to it, it was not an easy thing to do!12 -
I'm a big guy, and have recently been getting in some running amidst all of the walking I've been doing. Managed to run 1.25 miles today without stopping in the middle of my 6 mile walk. That's easily the farthest I've run since doing a turkey trot 5-miler in 2015. Getting back into running has been amazing during all of this covid isolation!32

I've been working the system here on MFP for over 2 months and had to make a lot of adjustments at first--too hungry, overeating as a result. After 4 weeks I realized I had over-adjusted and was stuck at the same weight. Rather than freaking out b/c I "lost" 4 weeks of work, I simply adjusted again, moderately, and figured I had learned something. Also, I did not gone over maintenance once in that month-long stall, and any day I didn't meet my goal, I just got back to it the next day. It feels like a victory to feel calm and confident that this will all work out if I have patience with myself and the process.

I went on run today that by all accounts should not have happened. I gave myself every single excuse I could today "My legs hurt from the long run yesterday" "You don't have time to run before the kids have to be up" "Ok well now you don't have time to run because you have to go to the store" "You definitely can't run now, you have a phone call that took longer than expected" "Its too hot, its the hottest part of the day" but I did it. I slogged through it and I was hot and sometimes miserable but i feel so much better now that I have gotten it done! Me 1 Me 0!32

@mkculs13 That is awesome. It is really helping me, too when I can look at my weight loss journey without bringing unnecessary negative emotion into it. Accepting that it's never going to be linear and not giving up when there are speed bumps.
My NSV is that I actually really feel like the satisfaction of staying within my calorie goal and seeing a loss on the scale is preferable to me at this moment than the escapism of eating my feelings. I'm not doing it because I am unhappy with how I look. I'm doing it because I actually feel better about myself and more in control of my life when I'm doing what is most beneficial for my health. I hope I can keep feeling this way.13 -
Got leggings at the store yesterday. Weird that I’m the smallest size, and unquestionably the smallest size they have. Used to be I would debate on the L vs. XL because I was petite but overweight. Now I’m just right in the middle of S.
Update: extra nsv, I tried a pair on, and they’re actually a bit big for leggings. I’ve sized out of big box store leggings lol.19 -
I had to tighten my belt up 1 notch... I don't see any change in the mirror so it was cool15

Wow...shopping/looking for CUTE stuff on-line and seeing the sizes extra large, large and even some mediums now and having regret that those sizes won't fit me...they are too big. Whereas for YEARS I did the same thing only for size small and medium and would have to regretfully look elsewhere because those sizes were too small, not even daring to dream that one day this would be reversed!14

On a 6 mile bike ride this morning I was riding with my 4 year old son in his trailer, hauling an extra 4 1/2 / 5 stone and my partner said "I just can't keep up with you, you didn't even hear me calling you to slow down, you are so much fitter than me"
Feeling great!!29 -
Ordered pizza. Planned on having 2 slices. It arrived 2 hours late. I'm starving! Instead of binging, at 3 slices. Crisis averted.27

I made it to my 7 day streak! And 10 days tomorrow. Next goal is 30.27

I don't find that to be a victory. It seems like a design flaw. They really should last longer and not be so damn expensive.8 -
From barely able to walk last year or stand for very long because of obesity and poor circulation in my legs, to biking every day and squats / deadlifts 2-3 times a week. I'm 55 and this is today's photo of quads. last time I was able to see any muscle / vascularity in my legs was 20 years ago.

Recent NSV: I took measurements and saw the inches go down .. I also fit an old pair of jeans that I haven't worn in a while.21

Tried on last summer’s clothes and they still fit. Reminder to all to throw on your jeans and shorts every once in a while!18

Wearing a super old hoodie today because my usual sweater is in the wash.
Three people commented on how slim I look.
Apparently the reason nobody said anything before really is due to how baggy the sweater I usually wear is. I am pretty lost in it these days, it's just so comfy and the pockets have zippers.18 -
I'm no longer craving sugar!19

Was able to save my daily peanut butter for a time after lunch. It helped that there were peanuts in my salad haha12

I fit back into my UK size 18 trousers and managed to hang on the pull up bar for 5 seconds. Doesnt sound like much but I couldn't hang at all a month ago.18

I was able to hang off the pull up bar for a few seconds recently too and was extremely excited lol. It's fun! I want to someday be able to swing around like I see people do sometimes.
Congrats on your successes!14 -
I just finished Whole 30 and 1 round of 21 Day Fix and I'm down 11 inches this month! I don't know if that's a lot or a normal change for a months work, but I'm happy! I've decided to extend my Whole 30 for another 15 days at least and then I will actually weigh in but overall I:
- Am sleeping great and waking up before my alarm feeling rested
- have consistent energy throughout the day
- have broke my food cravings. Seriously amazing- my husband opened a bag of chips next to me (normally my kyrptonite) and I had no desire for them!
- had way less pms / TOM issues
- essentially has cut out all bloating18 -

I have been interested to try this. Did you change calorie intake at all?0
