Starting Insanity Monday, September 5th

We were alternating workout programs every two weeks. This past week we started Turbo Fire and we haven't worked out as much as we should. My boyfriend is just not feeling it. He doesn't like doing the girlie workout program. I guess I can see it but still a little frustrated because I've sucked it up thru the other programs, including Supreme 90 Day, which I do not like. Anyway. So I've been working out by myself lately, which is fine, doesn't bother me since I like working out. But because of the lack of commitment we've had lately I decided I wanted to complete one of the workout programs straight thru. If Josh didn't want to join me, I would do Turbo Fire. But we discussed it and he wants to complete a round of one of the programs with me so we decided on Insanity. I can't wait! Next week will be my last week of C25K which is part of the reason why we are waiting until next week to start. The first couple of weeks of Insanity just kills our legs. And I don't want to workout my legs so much that it's hard to get out of bed and/or walk.
Anyone else interested in starting Insanity Monday???

What kept you motivated to stick with it? From what I hear it is really intense, and I feel like if it's just me doing it I'll have an easy time giving up. Also... I play softball on Thursday nights... would you recommend only doing Insanity between Friday and Monday so I am not in pain on game days?0 -

I finished my first round of P90X in May, and then instantanly ordered insanity thinking it would be easy since i did complete p90x, and then after my first workout, i was like OMG, i am still not in shape! I just kept pushing play, and it eventually got easier, but, you have to keep in mind, that everyone that is in the videos, are all pretty fit, and make it look easy, and that sorta makes you want to keep up with them, but then you gotta do what you gotta do! I have very weak knees, so i had to really modify all the power jumping, and high impact knee movements! I really, just kept myself motivated by keeping goals, talking to other people, and really, just wanted to prove to myself that i can do this. I wouldnt suggest insanity for beginners, but, you do follow a schedule with insanity, so if you wanna try to incoporate it with your softball, that would be a good idea. I lost 4lbs, but a total of 16.4 inches throughout my entire body!0 -
LittleD,
We finished our first round of P90X in March and then started to do our first round of Insanity in May. We thought the exact same thing!!! That is would be easy, we got this. Nope, apparently we didn't know what being in shape means. And we let life get in the way and didn't finish. :0( But this time, no excuses!!!
Congratulations for sticking with it and for digging deep!!! 16.4 inches that's Awesome!!! What are you going to do now? Another round of P90X or Insanity or a hybrid or something else?0 -

I actually started doin a p90x/insanity hybrid like 4 days after i completed insanity, and i just wasnt sticking to it, so i stopped, and restarted again, and then things got really crazy, so i stopped, so i just restarted doing p90x this monday, so today is day 3 of my 2nd round. I figure since p90x2 is coming out, i'll get prepared! I will be doing insanity again, but it is very hard, and i just would dread doing the workouts! LOL Good Luck to you!0 -
On week 3 of insanity and love it!0

Everyone ready to start Insanity on Monday??? I am!!!
Even if you have already started Insanity recently or will be starting really soon, feel free to post on this thread. It is not a closed group, just people looking to give and receive motivation from others.0 -
Good luck! I love it! Next week is my last week!0

Hi, I'm starting monday too.
Been trying to find an Insanity support thread and seem to have found 2 now, although the other one has already started.
Are you going to post your stats before you start and post your fit test results on here?0 -
I did the fitness test yesterday! Is it okay if I post here even if I'm a couple days ahead?
Also, I'm kind of worried about doing this in an apartment. I know my downstairs neighbour and he teases me about my exercise being loud... I hope it's just teasing and he's not actually annoyed.0 -
Awesome!! Working out together using online communities is awesome!! Good luck to everyone!! For those of you who can't afford a workout program BCx Boot Camp is a free online program - http://www.fitstudio.com/programs/bcx I hope that helps! Insanity, P90x & RushFit are all great programs too! The key is just making it happen and holding each other accountable here!
Good luck everyone!!0 -
If you are ready to try something new, we have a gang doing BCx Boot Camp online at FitStudio.com - it's totally free & intense http://www.fitstudio.com/programs/bcxGood Luck to you! I just fininshed it up about a month ago!

Hi - I'm also starting tomorrow. This is my first time trying out an online community and I'm hoping it will help keep me accountable and motivated. I started Insanity a few months ago and only lasted about 2 weeks before letting life get in the way. Determined to complete the whole program this time!0

How have you found it so far? How did you get on with the fit test?
Lol at your neighbour, I'm sure he understands...as long as you're not working out at 3am!!0 -

Of course it's okay!0 -
It's Monday!!! Let the Insanity begin!!!0

I am starting my second round of insanity today. I loved it and and got great results. Will definately follow this thread to see how everybody does. Keep in mind it is tough, but you only have to do what you can do. If you need a break hit pause. A heart rate monitor is a must.
Good Luck!!0 -

Workout one:
"Before: Super nervous! But all I have to do is make it through 40 minutes! I can do it!
After: OH MY GOD NO I CAN'T.
NO HEY NEVERMIND I DID IT. I took a break in the middle but still!"
Workout two:
"Before: So sore! But I will do my best. Every bit counts, and it will get easier.
After: I did it! This time I wasn't so hard on myself when I had to take a break. I managed most of it! I just had to modify the moving push-ups. I feel awesome!"
So yeah, it is HARD. But if you take breaks when you need it, it's managable and you feel awesome afterwards!
Fitness test results:
Switch kicks - 80
Power jacks - 47, but I don't think I went low enough.
Power knees - 95
Jump squats - I lost count
Globe jumps - 9
Suicide jumps - 26! I was proud of this one.
Push-up jacks - 14
Low Plan Obliques - I lost count
I was fairly happy with my fitness test, but I worry that my form wasn't very good... oh well, I have 60 days to improve!0 -
Elksy, sounds like you're off to a brilliant start and your fit results are great!!
I'm nervous about it all as well, how weird is that, nervous about doing a dvd workout at home on my own lol....yeah I know really it's because i'm afraid I won't be able to do it!!
So I just did the fit test and was surprised it wasn't nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be, yay!!:drinker: I'm looking forward to doing my first proper workout tomorrow...i'm sure I'll be eating those words tomorrow!!
Here are my fit test results:
Switch Kicks 58
Power Jacks 62
Power knees 84
Power Jumps 34 - don't think the impact of these are good for my back
Globe Jumps 10 - hmmm
Suicide Jumps 13
Push Up Jacks 26
Low Plank Obliques 54 - thank you Jillian for all the practice!
I know what you mean about form, it's difficult to tell though, we need huge mirrors!!0 -
We just finished the Fit Test, for the 4th time. Once in April, May, July and todays. We haven't made it past the first two weeks, something always comes up. I'm really glad we have a reason why we have to complete Insanity this time. We signed up for the Tough Mudder ( http://toughmudder.com/ ) and we have to get in incredible shape if we want a shot at completing the event.
Today's Fit Test:
Switch Kicks: 110
Power Jacks: 43
Power Knees: 73
Power Jumps: 54
Globe Jumps: 11
Suicide Jumps: 20
Push-up Jacks: 20
Low Plank Oblique: 500 -
Wow, you two both had amazing results on your fitness tests! High fives!
And skinnyinnotime, I totally agree with you on the mirrors thing! Of course, I wouldn't be thrilled to see the big tomato that is my exercise face, but it would really help with keeping form.0 -
wow!! awesome fit test numbers. I will post mine when i get home today. Everyone ready for day 2??0
-
Just did my first workout....a cool bath and 40 mins later I still feel hot and clammy, but at least the beetroot look has lessened lol!!
That was bloody mad, I managed to keep going without extra breaks upto 32 minutes into it, then had to stop a few times. I got so hot I felt like I had heating in my body!!
How are you all doing?0 -
I had the same experience with the first workout! I was fine until those number one drills... ugh.
Today I did Cardio Recovery! I actually found it harder in some respects... I prefer short bursts of different activities over holding a position for a long time. There was a point when my legs burned so badly they actually felt as if they were freezing! But afterwards the soreness from the past few days was totally gone, and I felt amazing.0 -

Oh, the recover is harder, so much for that!! But sounds like the end result of it is worth it.0 -
It's very quiet on here, saw some tumble weed on the way in.
My 2nd day was good, managed to keep going without any extra breaks...ok I wasn't (nowhere near) at their pace but I kept going :happy:0
