We celebrated Father’s Day today since my brother was in town, and had pizza. I told myself I was going to eat three slices, since I knew that would satisfy me without overeating, and I stuck to it. It felt really good because I ate to satisfaction and didn’t feel like I deprived myself, but at the same time I didn’t feel a need to go overboard just because it was available. It also helped that my brother took the rest.24

I laid out in the sun the other day and exposed my stomach for maybe the first time ever. I was in my backyard and mostly secluded, but there is no way to get complete privacy. I didn’t even mind that my kids saw me. 40lbs ago this would NEVER have happened.
I think the NSV is two things. 1-feeling like I looked ok enough to do it and 2- not caring that I don’t have perfect abs! As my 11 year old noticed...my stomach has “cracks” in it. Yeah, those are old stretch marks from carrying her around! 😂
Now on the flip side, since my stomach had never seen the sun before, it didn’t take long to get a burn! Oops! ☀️🔥22 -
I have had a weekend of sorting through my wardrobe to throw away all the things that don't fit (or at least to put them in a charity bag for when things reopen) and work out where the gaps are to buy stuff in smaller sizes. Some of my more optimistic past purchases are now wearable and a lot of the things I saved for now aren't far off being too baggy but wearable with a belt or as oversized tops over leggings etc.
The main problem is that although I have a wishlist of things I'd like to buy, I'm not confident enough in my new sizing to take the plunge and order stuff in a UK size 10, even though the sizing charts say it will probably be ok.12 -
I’ve done another closet dive and found a summer shirt that now fits! Last time I tried it on I remember there being at least a 10cm gap - today it did up easily.15

I've realized recently that I feel better now than I did when I was 30, which was 11 years ago. This time last year I'd started feeling just a bit old... a little slower, more joint pain, feeling bad when I woke up, that kind of thing. Now I feel great even though I'm only halfway to goal weight, and I look younger too. It feels like I got younger.23

I can jog a little. My stamina isn't great but my knees used to scream on the first step. Same thing going down stairs. They still creak a bit with stairs but no attitude when I walk or jog. They are never going to be perfect, a consequence of childhood injuries being dismissed as just soft tissue or growing pains, but I don't feel like knee replacements are in my immediate future anymore.19

I picked up my walking/running routine right away when I got to Florida (I live in WI, but FL sister needed help after surgery). It's not a huge deal, but I know that I could be tempted to use the heat as an excuse. I've been so consistent that I've been able to add 20% to my distance over the past 2 weeks while maintaining speed. And even though I'm not worried about my diet right now, I also know I'm doing a good job making healthy choices and eating at or under maintenance most days. And I craved my healthy go-to foods so much I had to get some to add to what my sis keeps in her home. I feel like I've made really sustainable choices this time around25

Saturday didn't go well. I didn't exercise except for a little walk and I'm not going to start about the food.
But I didn't quit. Today I could weigh myself or exactly track my intake since I've been away, but tonight I'm back home and back at going my workout. And I'm proud to say that today I did a full 30 seconds no stopping jumping jacks and I didn't die!!!!!! I haven't done any type of jumping for any amount of time for the last almost 8 years since I nearly lost my foot/half my lower leg in an accident.
I'm so proud of myself because it's (now I'm realizing) mostly fear that's been holding me back.
Even when it's hard, forward is the only way to go. I have to keep trying and fighting, otherwise my health will only get worse.26 -
My wife commented on this yesterday. A year and a half ago, spending thirty minutes outside in the Tennessee heat would lead to me sweating profusely and running back in to flop on the couch and pant like I had sprinted. Now, I spend so much time outside walking that I worked in the yard for about three hours yesterday with only breaking a mild sweat. (Also I reclaimed some of my yard from the woodland brush that had grown during our four months of rain.)25

Sometimes when my husband hugs me now, he picks me right up and spins me around. I haven't been light enough to be lifted in forever.
It doesn't hurt either. When I was heavier, attempts to lift me were often painful.36 -

I've had to just do it online, and expect to return things via the post office. Did you see the statement from John Lewis saying they're not encouraging/ allowing people to try clothes on? I'm expecting more places will be the same, and.given the number of times an item of clothing is handled on the rack before you try it on, you're probably safer trying things at home. Be brave/ experiment

My resting heart rate has decreased from 80 bpm to 65 bpm over the last month. The biking is paying off!23

Mammogram severely delayed due to pandemic. Went this morning.
At checkin I was grilled and asked for ID because I no longer looked like the photo on file.
When I went to select a robe, I automatically reached for the XXL on the top shelf. Oh, yeah, I forgot. Selected an XS from the bottom shelf. It swam on me.
In the X-ray room, the tech asked me the routine questions. “Have you lost weight since the last mammogram?” “90 pounds”. She looked at me like I had three heads. I guess she thought the mask was muffling me. “How much?” “Ninety.” “Ninety? As in nine-zero?”
She had a really hard time comprehending that.52 -
I found a new thigh muscle protusion, and I got up off the floor after playtime without grunting and huffing!25

I'm down a cup size/ cup size and a half. They're still unnecessarily large but I feel more balanced escaping I/J land.24

Oh I just LOVE that! They are probably so used to people gaining that someone showing up with a full body transformation like yours is like meeting a real live unicorn. WELL DONE!

I have been able to lose 10+ pounds since my gym closed in March. That is amazing since I have not exercised. I sure miss the gym and I have had to cut down on calories but my clothes are fitting better and better. It is way too hilly in my neighborhood for me to walk for exercise since I have a bad knee. Looking forward to going back to the gym soon and being able to eat a few more calories each day!12

NSV: I'm still at it even though it's slow. Things are moving in the right direction, and I am patient. I was able to buy a new dress today, tried it on, and didn't hate how I look in it. Its been a while since I could say that.19

Just listening to my body for the last 2 weeks, not counting calories. Still tracking, just to check out my natural intake and my weight levels have stayed stable.19

I am wearing size 34 Levis for the first time in 50 years, feels pretty good. Last year I wore size 62 pants, when I look at the new Levis I can't believe I could fit into something so small.32

Doctor was very happy with where I am at health-wise. My BP is 106/72, so my diastolic (bottom number) has come down nicely (it was floating at 85 for a while). He congratulated me on my weight loss as well.30

I finally broke my plateau. It was a long 5 weeks but I persisted. I didn't give up though I wanted to a bit.
It may have helped that I've been eating closer to maintenance while I've been on vacation. Trying to reduce my stress levels.
I wish I could have gone bathing suit shopping this year, but that just means next year will be bikini shopping lol.36 -

I've been able to do intermittent fasting everyday for the past two months. I've also been able to exercise 6 days/week since May24 -
My waist is finally what is said to be what is preferred by MDs - less than 1/2 my height in inches!16

My friend took a candid photo of me when we were walking on a trail. It’s the first time in a long time i didn’t feel embarrassed about myself in the picture. It was a great feeling to look at a picture I didn’t take and think I looked ok!26

An SV related to NSVs...
I am actually losing! This is the first time I have lost intentionally. I live mostly outside of the States with some short periods in the States. And two times when I have left the States I have within a year lost about 40 lbs, not on purpose, but then because it wasn't on purpose it all came back, sometimes with extra. So for the last year and a half I have been in the regain stage and I don't want the cycle to continue so I am really trying to actually lose. So I have consistently logged in and tracked for 45 days (over 6 weeks), and I am trying to lose the healthy way. I am learning about eating lots of fruit and veggies in order to fill myself up with the right stuff but keep a calorie deficit. And I am not denying myself. I don't like to eat below 1800 calories so sometimes I eat some ice cream in order to get to the right number of calories. Or if I go out for burritos or burgers I log it early and make the whole day work together so I can eat that yumminess.
And, in the last few days I have been doing some ab and arm workouts and some stretching. I do a lot of walking and hiking so I figure my legs are mostly taken care of that way. I want my inches to go down so I can fit into some clothes I have. They are jeans mostly and I won't be wearing them much until the fall, so hopefully by then I will have shrunk into them.
Great job to everyone else out there! I love this thread (feed?) as it is so encouraging and inspiring!17
