I swam off more than 20 lbs in the past 2 years. I can now wear a bikini (if no one is around). I'm 67.31

Ordered a size down in shorts last month and they finally arrived...and not only did everything fit, there was a good inch of room in the waist for most of them (I like to wear shorts kinda low anyway, so not a problem for now). Only thing that didn’t fit was an adorable faux-wrap dress whose bustline gaped open practically to my belly button. Hopefully a few well placed stitches will fix that!17

Following up from Thursday: I got lab test results back yesterday. The results are an improvement from my last bloodwork three years ago -- more improvement than I thought I would see.
I have been monitoring my blood pressure at home, so I've watched that improve over my weight loss and stay healthy in maintenance. I showed him some of my data, and he was pleased. My BP in the office was a little elevated, but they say that's common.
The bad news is my total cholesterol actually increased by one point. The good news is that my LDL (bad cholesterol) dropped 45 points from being borderline high to being optimal. My HDL went up 50 points, perhaps to compensate. Maybe that HDL is still working to get the LDL out of my system. Triglycerides also dropped 20 points.
I guess it's true. You can be healthier by dropping excess fat.21 -
We started in on cleaning and taping the new house so we can paint next week, and I scrubbed out the laundry room; that's washing walls and ceiling and floor, and taking down shelves and washing those and moving the washer and dryer to wash behind and under them....
and I came home for lunch...
And I have enough energy to go back over to the new house and work on taping for another couple hours. Thirty-five pounds ago, I would have had to spend the rest of the day and night resting.18 -
I had to take a photo of myself for work and I thought I looked pretty.
It was quite stressful trying to take a picture for their blog because I hate photos of myself, I have lockdown hair and trying to take a picture that doesn't look like a selfie when you live on your own is near impossible - but when I was done and stopped and looked at the photo, I thought, hey, I look pretty. Which is a much nicer adjective than fat.
I still have so far to go, I'm still technically obese, but I already feel happier about how I look, and I can visualise where I'm going. I'll take that as a NSV!23 -
This might be TMI but my underwear isn't cutting into my thigh anymore22

So... I poked my wiggly little nose out of my burrow, sniffed around, consulted yarrow sticks and the alignment of various astronomical bodies, and decided that it would be all right to don my mask and go shopping. It was a long drive to an international supermarket I used to go to maybe once a month, but I was low on a lot of stuff. Anyway, my NSV is that with temperatures at around 105 and driving a good ten miles or so without using the AC in my car, then lots of walking in the store and a trip across their large, hot parking lot, I was NOT out of breath at all. Even while wearing a mask. In previous years, that whole excursion would have left me sweaty and winded. Occasionally near to fainting. This time - I was just kinda sweaty, no big deal.21

Having to buy smaller clothes today! I have lost 71# & still have 129# to go, so I'm not buying anything extravagant. In fact, my first stop will be at Goodwill. My clothes are too big, hooray!27

I danced for 50 minutes today20

New blood pressure low - 97/70. I was never exceptionally high (I think my highest was 130/95, and only once), but it’s nice to know I don’t have to worry about it getting high.
I also bought the shortest shorts at the thrift store today. They are probably not that short in general, but they’re really short for me! I mowed the lawn with them and did not get any chub rub. Not sure if I’ll wear them in public yet, but they are nice for hot days at home.20 -
I changed the shade on my kitchen ceiling light...by myself. I'd been meaning to do this DIY (or pay someone to do it) for almost a year now.
I went from a white metal pendant light to a black fabric light with the pendent cord wrapped in black jute.
This included rewiring, not getting electrocuted, and replacing the bulb with a cuter, Edison type one that actually fit.
Why an NSV? This all required an amount of mental acuity and patience that, tbh, I wouldn't have had even a few weeks ago. I believe my current fitness level has helped with my thinking processes.33 -
I ran 5K at a pace of 7:36 min/km today, previous avg has been just over 8 min/km although to be fair this was a flatter route than normal.
One of those kilometres was even sub 7 minutes. Maybe not fast in the grand scheme of things but a vast improvement for me!15 -
Got some new shorts that fit perfectly. Went from a 22W to a regular 16! The new shorts are so comfortable I'm basically living in them.20

I am actually wearing the same size clothes as I did in high school which is a medium shirt and size 32 waist. At my heaviest, I wore a 2XL shirt and had a size 42 waist.16

Thanks for everyone posting their NSVs. It's a reminder to watch for the little things--and sometimes, even, bigger things I might not have realized really are connected to getting to a healthier weight.
My NSV was working out steadily when in FL for 3 weeks (helping a sister after surgery). I went out every evening, even at 96 F, "feels like" 102. I sweat like few others. I know folks think I'm dying--red-faced and positively drenched--but nope; I felt good. Sweat, to me, has always been like oiling up the machinery for a smoother run. I sweat like this when I'm thin. Still, I felt good about getting out when everyone else is complaining it't too hot to do anything.15 -
Mine is all mental. I bought a cheap blouse in the beginning of March, but haven't worn it much since blouses aren't exactly loungewear and I've been working from home. I recently washed it for the first time, tried it on today, and realized it had shrunk.
The NSV part here is that I realized just yesterday I was thinking about needing a belt for my jeans because they keep falling down, I bought the jeans at the same weight as the blouse, and if the jeans are getting too big I did not simultaneously gain weight and grow out of my blouse. So, I shrugged, put the blouse in my closet, decided it will be a goal piece, and put on something else. No frustration, no self-hate, no blaming myself (except for not following the laundry instructions), just acceptance that I messed up with laundry and will have to wait a while for that blouse.21 -
I lost 2cm off both my hips and waist - my weight it bouncing around, but I'm getting smaller!18

A NSV about laundry!! Love it haha

I went for a nice hike the other day. About nine miles in the Coast Range. The week before I had gone for a hike up in the Cascades. I had a couple NSVs on the more recent hike.
First, even though the second hike was longer and included more elevation gain, I had a better pace, a lower overall and maximum heart rate, my fitness tracker said I still gained training effect but didn't "overreach." The next two days, I was less sore. That's all great and a reasonable NSV.
The other one ain't about hiking. Like I did the week before, I stopped at the grocery for a couple Lara bars to take on the hike. They were still on sale and there was a coupon on top of that. I'm a sucker for that kind of thing. I got four flavors.
Like last week, I put two in my backpack. As I was coming back down from the summit for the last few miles back to my truck, I ate one. I did about the same thing last week.
Here's the part that's different. Unlike last week, later that night, I did NOT eat the other three bars. In fact, I put them in the pantry, and I didn't eat any of them yesterday either. They are still there. My plan (and we know about the best laid plans) is to leave them there until next time I go for a hike. I'm hoping that's this coming weekend.

I'm getting used to my 5 pound dumbells! I want to get some 10 pound ones soon. I've also done strength training for 40 minutes twice this week, which is quite a lot going from absolutely nothing at all.16

All the mountain biking this summer has really paid off in my overall fitness and especially my leg muscles. A year ago these legs were covered in a few layers of fat! I'm 55 years old, never give up!

Three cheers for all those striations, my friend! #goals8 -
Yesterday my ankle was a bit sore - I slightly twisted it and sprained it over the summer so it's a weak spot. I had been planning a 5k run but decided to do a light run instead. Apparently these days a light run is about 20 minutes solid running. It was only a month ago roughly that I was working on building back up to half hour runs and was doing 10 minutes at a time now 20 minutes is easy.15

Lost an inch off my waist! No wonder my formerly favourite jeans are now too loose, and my formerly too-tight jeans now fit perfectly!20

My weight matching what I lied and said it was on my license lol24

Being able to move from the back of the shopping cart to the front of the shopping cart in the check out lane at Aldi without having to suck in my gut and barely squeeze through! This alone made the last 7 months of workouts worth the effort!24

After my extremely long and slow 10k a few days back, my legs begged me to go back to the 60 minutes running time that I had been doing.
I obliged and my legs thanked me for it.
The NSV is that I can (consistently) run further in that 60 minutes - today was quarter of a mile further than before. I know, doesn't sound a lot but it felt like it was a lot further. Even my son was asking if we'd missed the timer telling us that the hour was up!
Garmin connect also gave me a badge for running the 10k. The next running badge I can get is the half-marathon badge. Hmmm. It'll be a while before I see that one then.
My step count is being elevated at home as well; finally, a year after getting the keys to our new home, we have carpet in the lounge instead of a bare, concrete floor (long story). The carpet is wonderful, thick, soft, luxurious and I just cannot stop walking around on it (clean bare feet, of course). I had no idea that carpet could be so life changing.20 -
I can't stop looking at my body. At 42, I thought my midriff days were over, turns out, they're just beginning! I feel the sexiest that I have ever felt before and it only took 4 decades to get here!23

Putting on a pair of size 32 shorts yesterday, and they fit!
A year and a half ago I was size 62. My jeans are still 34s, but that is pretty good as well. When I go to put on clothes now I am still amazed that something so small can go on my body.21
