Sort of a non-scale victory. Had a physical a couple of days ago. The doctor was reviewing my history as we were finishing up and he says "You don't need to lose any more weight". I disagree, but it was still good to hear that. 😁20

nsv. i have bought a whole cupboard full of lentils now. my husband got cranky with me for cooking something with butter... he wasnt like this two weeks ago.10

My 1” thick cushy yoga mat has arrived. No more knee pain in tabletop pose!15

I logged into MFP for over 100 days! It hasn't always been pretty, but I did it.19

I bought a size 10 (UK) dress online. It arrived and it fits17

My phone gave me an award for most calories burned in a hike!21

I weigh less than my husband... of course he's over 6 feet and I'm 5'3" but hey, it's a start.31

My mom said my face looked thinner.
She's always been my harshest body critic (she's the one who is always telling me how fat I am), so for her to notice and say something nice is huge. She wouldn't say it if it wasn't true. I'm not even sure I can see it yet myself, which is even nicer.21 -
I am going to post this in the Things People Say thread too because it applies.
I started buying some technical t-shirts at the thrift store to play Ultimate and to go to the gym. They are quick-dry and don't get as heavy as cotton. I've been collecting them for a while, so I have quite a few now. If I find one in my size at the thrift store, if it's half of and I like the color at least a little and it still has life left, I'll bring it home. I usually try them on because you really can't always believe the label. I bought one not too long ago after the store opened back up from our stay-at-home order, and currently the fitting rooms are closed. Good call. I know I can take them home, let them sit a couple days, and then try them on safely. If they still have tags and don't fit, I can take 'em back.
Since I lost weight, I have been a little between sizes. I was shocked last year when I won a t-shirt in a raffle and it fit since it was size S. It's a little snug, but whatever. So I have been buying size small for workout clothes. It seems to wick better than having something baggy. So when I was at the thrift store a couple weeks ago I picked up a nice shirt in size small that I like the color. But it's not just size small, it's a FITTED size small. To be honest, it's a little too small for me, but again - whatever. I can wear it as an undershirt, and I've been using these as undershirts a fair bit.
Thanks for bearing with me. Now for the actual NSV part....
So I was out getting some parts to tune up my lawn mower, and I stopped by the farm store for a 3 CuFt bundle of Douglas-fir sawdust for my blueberries. I was wearing this arguably too small shirt. I kind of started to cut in line in front of another customer that I didn't realize was in line because they have an odd queue. As soon as I realized what I did, I walked around and got six feet behind him. We exchanged niceties; I apologized for almost being a jerk. Anyway, he says, "That shirt makes you look good." I said it's a little small. He said, "No, it's actually a good look. Makes you look svelte." He actually said that. Me? Svelte? Um. I don't think so that's for sure, but wow. I think I gained a half inch in that moment.21 -
This has been my victory for the past 3ish months: Making every food an option and not eliminating anything which prevents a feeling of deprivation. I eat everything I just make sure I have the calories in the bank and adust the portions.
Also, being able to fit into shorts that were tight when I got them 6ish years ago. Now they fit perfectly and I feel more comfortable in them now than the day I got them.18 -
My blood pressure is down, and I can now walk up and down my long driveway without having to stop and catch my breath. I have a heart condition so this is a major win for me!27
-
I got these shorts out if my “Someday” box a few weeks back, but they still wouldn’t button without causing a serious muffin top, but I was able to button them up with ease today!
Also, I had to switch out my watch band from M/L to S/M.31 -
I put on shorts that were previously snug around my thighs, but they had extra room!16
-
I've moved out of my old plus leggings into new one size leggings. Size large tank tops I just bought are huge on me. I'll take it.15

I'm very pleased with this post.
No, literally. I'm sure there are plenty of women my age (64) who can break out the post-hole digger on a 90-plus degree (Fahrenheit) day, dig the 30" or so deep hole, lug the 50 pound bags of concrete and gravel, and set a post. I'm quite pleased to be one of them.
A while back, a 17-year-old (or so the deputy later told me) literally flattened my mailbox to fully horizontal, and ripped it right out of the ground, scattering torn-off car parts in my front yard and bending/ripping a culvert while doing so. I was unamused: Needed to replace the whole shebang, mailbox and post.
Then, I had no idea how to replace a mailbox. Now I do. Once everything solidifies nicely, I'll put the actual mailbox on top, and bolt it in place. (Should be possible tomorrow, it was quick-set concrete ). It makes me happy to figure out things like this, and do them for myself. I even got to buy a center punch and some new drill bits. New tools: Whoo hoo, bonus!
ETA: The tacky-looking duct-taped reflective caution tape is temporary. The mailbox has reflective numbers on it, so should be fine. but I was worried that the post was just plain black.49 -
Yesterday I had to wear something smart for the first time since going in to lockdown back in March. I reached for a blouse I've always felt quite happy in, and it was too big! This was subsequently true of all my other blouses and smarter tops. This emboldened me to try on my "one day" shirt and it fit like a glove - it's a UK fitted size 8! Also my smart trousers that gave me a muffin top before lockdown now fit splendidly. This was really quite something as I never thought I'd get too small for those things and was ok with that idea. Bad news is I am getting to the point where I'm going to need to box that stuff up and buy all new clothes - an expense I don't need right now 😐
Second NSV was from my eldest niece. Firstly, she rang me and asked if she could come workout with me and join me on my daily walk. Secondly, she roped me in to learning a dance with her as she is unable to see her school friends - halfway through I saw her glancing at my arms - "wow your arms are muscular!" Being a good example to her is super important to me so this filled my heart with more happiness than I can convey 🥰34 -

I had a telemedicine appointment with a new doctor and she called me a "small woman". Since she couldn't see me I immediately corrected her and said that I wasn't what I would call "small". She calmly said that my weight and height, if accurate, tell her that I am in fact small, then she continued talking. I didn't even hear what she was saying, I was busy texting my friend to tell her that I was called small for the first time in my life.

That really IS a great post! Congratulations on learning a new skill and succeeding at it. If it were me, I'd leave the reflective tape on. I'd probably add MORE. We get scraps of high quality retro-reflective tape from the sign shop a few times a year. I have a few colors, and I put it on lots of things. I actually have a patch of red and a patch of green on my canoe paddle. The other day, the sheriff's marine patrol was about to launch when I was getting out of the water, and he asked if it was to tell people which way I was going. I told him it was kind of a joke because if I held the paddle up above my head, the colors would be backwards. He said he didn't think of that. I do have red on the tip of my left kayak paddle blade and green on the tip of my right blade. That stays in correct orientation if held up high. Various other things I use rafting or camping get a few pieces so they are easy to find at night. My rafting toilet has a fair bit of reflectivity. That's something you definitely need to find, sometimes quickly.
I bought some parachute cord with reflective threads sewn in to help reduce trip hazards around the tent or tarp.
The brighter that box is, the less likely you'll have to repeat the job. Unless you think it really DOES look tacky.
I bought some retro reflective stickers for my bike. My commuter bike is black. These stickers are in star shapes, and during the day they are also black. At night they shine bright if hit by a light. I bet you could find some of that so it would disappear during the day but be very evident at night. I think they may even have rattle-can spray paint that's black during the day and retro reflective at night.
I can't wait to send you some mail!

My NSV is that when I weighed myself and hadn't lost much (I'm used to losing 4-5 lbs my first week), I took my measurements and noticed that I've lost an inch on both my waist and belly button, which stopped me from spiraling into negative feelings, etc. Losing at 53 is MUCH different for me than losing at 48. I lost so easily before. I'm eating strictly 1200 calories now (short and not very active right now) and I think this is going to be a slower loss than before.15
-
I had two hot dogs and two s'mores on 4th of July. I ate to satisfaction and both were delicious, cooked on a stick over a fire. I felt good because I felt like I was done eating, and didn't feel like I had to eat more because it was a holiday.23

I can walk down hill at a good pace without knee pain.18

I’ve been sticking to my calorie goal consistently. Last night I felt like some pasta. I had the water boiling and the pasta measured out when I decided I didn’t need it. I threw out the water, put the pasta back in the box and made some broccoli instead. It’s things like this that show me I am forming new habits and that’s really encouraging to me! 😃26

One of those kilometres was even sub 7 minutes. Maybe not fast in the grand scheme of things but a vast improvement for me!
Improved on my 5K pace, 7:07 min/km on Sunday. Yesterday I did 7K at 7:30 min/km, I’m really finding my stride. Planning to brave the 10K loop in the next week or two.
I’ve been focusing on heart rate and steps per minute which allows me to make speed gains without feeling like I’m fighting against the clock.

I really identify with this! Having said that, when I compare the actual records of my first planned weight loss journey (pre-menopause) I think I may be over-estimating how quickly and steadily I lost weight. However, I lost then eating more than I can now if I want to lose. I am tall (5'11") and only eating 1200 calories makes me feel unwell.
My NSV is that even though my weight curve seems to be going up at present, I am trusting that I can get this right for my body now!

Logged in and counted calories every day for 6 months. Lost 25 pounds along the way. 25!26

Thank you. Not a worry, I think,@mtaratoot. I've lived here since 1992, and this is the first such incident (snowplow knocked box off post with thrown snow, once before). The box sits about 10' down-traffic from a big ol' "Do Not Pass" sign. How the guilty youth missed the sign's double metal posts, I don't know (clipped the nearest post with the side mirror, I think, based on noting where the random knocked-off car parts fell).
The new box, though black, has large reflective white numbers (leftover from making one of those green 911 street-number signs, which is a standalone next to my driveway). I'm contemplating either moving the green sign to the post, or getting a 2nd one to mount on the post or box.
Even with nothing but the "Do Not Pass" and the big reflective numbers on the box, anyone who hits it is passed out, or trying. They will be sorry, as one of the new things I learned was about the red-bag Quikrete that you just pour dry into the hole, and add water on top. Good stuff.
I'll look into the reflective but visually black paint. That sounds promising. I've also got some reflective granules (intended as a paint additive) around here somewhere, that my dad gave me. Not as reflective as the more recent ones, but not bad.
I do need to find some of that reflective cord, though. Tent lines are an annoying hazard in the dark.
Apologies for the digression from NSV greatness. FWIW, I put the box on the post today, and am ready to start mail service, after an annoyingly long hiatus (it took me a while to figure out a replacement configuration that would work geometrically in my location, and required online-ordered parts). House number in photo edited visually for obvious reasons.
P.S. I would love to have mail. Send artichokes?
Apologies for the digression, all.
