I had lost 100lbs over the course of 18 months, and then in the last 2 years, I've gained 30lbs back. I'm not too hard on myself about it because I know what led to it.
It started with a groin injury, then a couple months of bronchitis which led to the development of asthma. That was the first year. I managed to find the right medication combination to manage my asthma, fully over came the reoccurring groin injury, but then I started back to Nursing School. lol. Somewhere in there my should started bothering me and got progressively worse and fast! I had to medically withdraw from school this past Spring so that I could have surgery on my rotator, a couple of days later my Grandma passed away, followed by my youngest being quarantined for Covid-19. Then, my world collapsed. Two days after my daughter came off of quarantine, my son was killed in a car accident.
So I'm not over hard on myself because the last couple years have been tough, 2020 being the worst.
I've started back slowly to training, meal prepping, and overall just increasing my strength and endurance. My PT did retire to focus on her restaurants (Clean Eatz) but I do have an appointment with someone else that she has highly recommended to get a body scan and to allow me to start again. I know that I will get rid of those 30lbs and after that, it's only 20lbs to my ultimate goal weight of 135.
I can do it. So can you!16 -
Lawdy, yes! I can sooo relate to this thread! I lost 65 lbs. on MFP back in 2011-2012. Got a knee injury and gained a bit more than half of it back. Then spent a year or tow yo-yo'ing...lose, gain, lose gain...(considering all that weight loss, I should be hanging from a charm bracelet. lol), but I wasn't logging! I believe being accountable for what I eat helps me the most, so I re-joined MFP in January. Being age 60, though, I find it's harder and much sloooooower to lose, so I've only lost 12 lbs in 7 mos, but at least I'm not gaining!
NEED PALS, so please friend me!5 -
I’ve been using MFP close to 10 years. After I gain back weight I have found It makes me feel less depressed if I open the reports tab and make a chart with all my weight data. When I zoom out to that view the ups and downs seem insignificant. I just see the long trend with the graph line moving down 50 pounds over 10 years. Try it yourself and I hope it makes you feel better too!4

So sorry to hear of your horrendous 2020. Be kind to yourself, and yes, you can do it!

I am going through this now. Two years ago I managed to get down to my goal weight. I’ve since then gained it back. I recently started back and decided to start using this app again. Feel free to add me!3

I've talked about it long enough. It's time to get serious. After losing over 100lbs and actually feeling skinny I've put back on 60. I miss wearing all of my clothes and feeling confident. Why are we so ambivalent about this? We'll feel better, look better and be happier!! I hope that MFP can keep me motivated. It was my salvation in 2015.
Feel free to add me as a friend. Daily support keeps me focused:)4 -
I lost 80lbs and over this quarantine have gained 20lbs back. Now I'm just stuck on getting started again, have to kick the soda habit.. AGAIN ugh. fun times but I will not gain back all of that weight so the work has to be done.3

That's exactly where I find myself. However, I am losing now and had lost just over 5.5 kg of the ca. 15kg that need to go. And then over the weekend I splurged and gained 1kg again.

Not Alone... I lost 44 pounds in 2012 and have slowly been gaining it back due to indulging in old habits of alcohol, fattening foods and snacks. I have gained 23 of those pounds back and feel so defeated and sad that I did this to myself. I don't like any of my clothes anymore, i find myself sitting around the house more (mostly because of COVID) and i can't find the attention span or the motivation to do the things I used to love. I used to workout 5 days a week and even had a trainer. Now I'm lucky if I do one workout in a week. I used to spend time outdoors everyday in the summer, now I find i enjoy sitting on the couch watching Netflix. I need to pull my head out of the sand. Perhaps even find some anti-depressants as well.8

I lost 110 lbs in 2009-2010 going from 330 lbs to 220 lbs. Gained that back and more after I "fell off the wagon." Started up again at the beginning of 2019 and I've gone from 387 lbs to 271 lbs so far since then.
I feel you on the gaining more than you lost !! 250 to 150 to 320
Well done on the loss so far !!!4 -

Ditto! I lost over 100 lbs about 7 years ago. Gained 50. Having a difficult time with self-loathing. Have been back at MFP for 4 weeks and have lost 6.5 lbs. Slow going, but at least the scale is going down. Definitely in need of a support group!!5 -
Same boat, I was really close to 200 lbs. about 7 years ago and got down to 127 lbs. in 5 years but now here I sit at 181 lbs. and man it's a hit to the ego but I started saying 3 good things about myself everyday so I don't hate on myself to much and make VERY reasonable goals to hit and so far it's working great!! (lost 6 lbs since May!!)7

Over the past 15 years, so basically since I have been an adult, I have been up and down. I do have the benefit of being tall so my healthy weight range goes up to 184 so I just caught myself this last time. I feel the best in the low to mid 160s so 8-13 lbs left to go this time.8 -
