Round 121
Please join us! Starting on 07/26 JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS, we will begin Round 121
Anyone can join us at anytime during the round.
Join us! If we stay mindful we can do this, you can do this.
Welcome back past members, welcome new members, let's keep each other accountable for another 10 days!
Here is what you do: Post your daily weight and add little comments along the way of how your day went. Post everyday to let us know how you're doing! Copy and paste the days in your response--tell us how much you lost and other non scale victories (NSV) you'd like to share.
FOR NEWBIES - I find it easiest to copy the dates to a document or note in my device and edit it each morning. Then copy and paste to the message board. MFP will return you to the spot on the board where you left off on your previous visit which is nice to know if you like to scan all of the posts.

I'm in! Thank you, @GrandmaJackie!
70 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion... ...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. Recovered from back surgery then hip surgery!! Got back to walking then I sprained my ankle. UGH! hurts! I was down for 6 weeks with the ankle.
The Shelter in Place has everyone freaked. We need to remain calm and respectful of each other.
Heaviest: 192.2
Round GW: 152.0
UGW: 132.2
07/24 - DNW ...worked out w/trainer...my SIL...for 60 mins. Day off walking.
07/25 - 154.0 at 7:30 a.m. ..ankle is healed...got 2.13 miles done in 43 mins this morning.

JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS ~|~ Round 121 (round 53 for me ) I'm in for another round (of course!) – I need to just keep going! Yet again thank you @GrandmaJackie such a champion particularly in these unprecedented & unsettled times, helping keep some stability in our lives, for setting up these challenges.
Female age 62 5' 4” - Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and have gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then; I don't want to gain any more, but would like to get back to my goal weight – I'm working at it – it's a permanent way of life !
Goal for this round – re-lose those 2 pounds ! - get back to & stick with good habits: be mindful of what I eat & drink, keep walking, no binges, really want to keep the 10 days binge free! Looking forward:
I'm just too danged cussed to let this thing knock me back, and ruin all the effort I have put in to get here. I am stepping up my routine, and taking control. Sheltering in place means I can fully concentrate on getting in my exercise, and preparing healthy food.
July: focus is on improving stamina, strength, flexibility, which may impact the scale
Aims:
- 2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals by keeping busy
Back Story:2018 goal: get back down to 160 ✅JGM10D ~|~ Round 120 🔹Posting weight and comments each evening.
2019 goal: proceed down to 150 ✅ with 2 months to spare
2020 goal: maintain below 150 dropping slowly down to 145 ✅ So far, so good.
That's a WIN in my book!
2020
Focus: maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

About me:I love learning about food and everything about it; from the way it acts in the body to learning to cook a new recipe. I went to school for nutrition (got my bachelor's) but I didn’t become an RD because it didn’t feel like the path for me. I guess I wanted to keep it as more of an interest instead of a career. I then went into public health to further my education and I currently help medically complex patients by connecting them with community resources to improve their health and life. I enjoy helping family and friends when they ask for advice related to food and nutrition. Plus, it helps me brush up on what I spent so much time learning!Previous days’ entries 07/26 117.2 Starting at the same weight I ended in round 119 thanks to eating a whole lot of salt on Friday after our hike. As semblances of normal life start creeping back in like takeout food, I find it harder to resist. Especially when it’s right in my face (Like my in-laws ordering takeout and wanting us to eat upstairs with them). I have a hard time saying no to those things because I enjoy them. One positive is that I feel like I did well last week and made a huge volume of summer squash to go with a minimal amount of Chinese food I ended up eating (maybe 1 cup worth of General Tso’s chicken, one chicken finger, and ½ cup pork fried rice, a fried dough ball, then a mountain of sautéed zucchini/summer squash). That method worked pretty well, I felt satisfied afterwards, but it took a while to feel full. I wanted to eat more of the Chinese food but resisted.
I’m here because when I’m not paying attention to what I eat, I start to gain and feel uncomfortable in my body. For me that results in frustration and a lot of other emotions. It has also increased my cholesterol in the past (It’s good now as far as I know thanks to diet and exercise). I have a family history of diabetes, heart disease, and all that fun stuff. So, I want to prevent that for myself by getting a hold of my food habits now.
I’m always open to conversation about food and nutrition, so feel free to reach out to me!
I know I said going into this it would be tough because the lower you go the harder it is to get to the goal number at my height. I just need to remind myself of that and keep on chugging because I love the changes I have seen and feel very comfortable in my own skin. I just don’t want to feel uncomfortable again…which can happen if takeout becomes a habit.
So cheers to a new round with a new focus and challenges of not letting takeout food get in the way of my success.
