    Success: I am really enjoying rowing. I am filled with wonder and joy every time I go out. I typically see bald eagles, deer, egrets, great blue herons and fish jumping from the water during my rows. Making time for it is difficult - rowing times are in the early morning hours and I am not a morning person. But I'm adapting because it's worth it.

    Struggles: Had quite a bit of water retention mid week - I think due to some homemade chicken Pho where I may have gone a little overboard on the Fish Sauce. Now that I am no longer on high blood pressure medicine, my body reacts to overly salty food. I need to be mindful of that. But after a couple of days, the water dropped, losing 3 pounds in one day. I was at 170.2 yesterday and today, but the average of the week, was exactly the same as last week.

    Avg wt back to May’s!

    Struggles:
    Rare 100+ degree heat is lowering my exercise burn... first day I overate. Did a bit better day 2 (but no deficit) Planning to have a deficit today. Scale went crazy overnight - glad I look at averages which are all great. Very hot weather is always difficult for me.

    Staying in the maintenance range, eating well, so that is good. I do need to reestablish better daily sleep and exercise habits as they have slipped somewhat over the past month.

    Success/Struggles: This was a stressful week. My almost 83 year old Dad fell and broke his hip Sunday evening.  He is doing well, but it has been a hard week. Weight wise everything has been about the same so that's good. I have been getting my runs in despite the ridiculous heat. This week will be my 30th wedding anniversary,  but with Covid we don't have any big plans but we'll still probably have a special dinner. 

    Big virtual hug Kathryn. I pray dad's hip heals soon!

    Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week:
    Struggle: Had teriyaki takeout this week and ate the leftovers the next day. I didn't want to struggle with figuring out the calories to log so didn't log for 2 days. Then I was very busy yesterday and didn't log yesterday. This is a concern because it is a beginning of a lost in focus. I woke up this morning committed to the plan again.

    Success: Even though I drifted with logging, I didn't gain.

    Successes/ struggles: We were away from Monday to Friday at a holiday resort. Lots of walking and a swim each day helped to keep my “calories out” reasonably high but the food was very high in carbs and low on fruit and veg, I also succumbed to temptation and had a couple of alcoholic drinks. The Covid rules meant that all the food was plated up and served to the table. The resort usually have much of the food buffet style and I would load up with salads, veg and fresh fruit. Unfortunately the portions of veg were very small and there was very little fresh fruit on offer. The desserts were all high carb, high fat options. I feel lucky that I didn’t gain more, even though it was only a few days.
    My son and little granddaughter were staying over the weekend, so I’m only just getting back to normal.
    However, 2 quiet weeks now before we go away again, so back on the straight and narrow.

    First congratulations on your weight loss and maintenance! What an accomplishment!

    I am 66, 5'2.5" and currently weigh about 160lbs have lost about 30. Goal is to lose about 40-50 lbs more. Going at a crawl but I know I nibble a bit.

    To lose your weight how many calories did you allot per day and how did you set your macros carbs, fat and protein? What about activity? Was it organized exercise? For maintenance what is your calorie and macro allowances?

    Thank you for any help you can provide.

    Rob, it's incredible how much you lost, and so quickly since last May. I look forward to cheering you on as you settle into maintenance. I'm just starting down the maintenance road too.

    Struggle: Not eating heaps of cakes / lollies. I don't seem to be able to just eat one or two. Partner got rained out at work on Tuesday and brought home a bag of fried donuts, ate one and then kept eating them throughout the day.
    Success: I managed to keep at least two dinners this week on the light side which probably helped with the overall maintenance. I think I weighed 2-3 times during the week but without stress which was good.

    Success/Struggles: So my weight shot up over my top end of maintenance range after a “binge” last weekend (yikes!), but good news is its all already gone. For all those “scale watchers” and weight fluctuation folks out there, I’ve had an 8 lb swing in my weight this week. And no, I did not eat at a 28,000 calorie deficit this week to compensate! Sodium, carbs, water weight; it all adds up quick and goes away just as quick.

    My birthday is at the end of next week so we’ll see how THAT goes! ;)

    Hi! My name is Kristen. And I struggle to maintain my weight. I have had great success losing/gaining, but I'm hoping this group helps me be more accountable. I weigh only 1x week on Sundays, so that's when I'll check in. My 2 goals in 2020 are to not let the scale go above 153 and weigh in EVERY Sunday for the WHOLE YEAR. This seems easy to most, but I get lazy and make excuses why I don't need to weigh in and then all of a sudden everything in my closet has shrunk. LOL

    Successes: Doing well. I am still losing weight, just really slowly. I'm eating a ton, but also getting a lot of exercise. I may have "declared maintenance" a bit early, so I kind of see this as a dry run as I figure out where I really need to be. I lost another 1/2 inch off my waist this week.

    Struggles: I normally run on M, W, F and Saturdays. I took a rest day on Wednesday this week. I was just so tired! I need to figure out how to keep up with the running while adding rowing to the routine and still incorporate time for rest. So listening to my body and adjusting. Rowing season will end in November, so I want to get in as much time on the water as I can. But I also don't want to lose ground on running either. Fortunately they are good cross training for each other.
