Do some people do better than others on keto as far a cholesterol? I was on keto and my cholesterol went way up. I know other people who don't ever have an issue with it on keto.

Sounds like you answered your own question. You know some people who have done better than you have on keto as far as cholesterol.3 -

Of course there is variations. I think the question is, by what do you mean in terms of cholesterol? Are we talking total cholesterol, hdl, ldl, crp, fasting glucose, etc...? Also, with or without weight loss?0 -

Lynn,
Not really though. I was curious if it's age, gender, genetics, etc. Thought someone might know.0 -

For most people, dietary cholesterol and serum cholesterol are not as closely related as was once thought. For other people, however, dietary cholesterol serves to raise their serum cholesterol to unsafe levels. Given that you are now identified as one of those whose serum cholesterol reacts negatively to dietary cholesterol, keto may not be the healthiest bet for you. You also might need to pay more attention than some to keeping your saturated fats to a minimum and eliminating transfats from your diet altogether.
Keto, IF, low-carb, gluten-free, 5:2, OMAD, etc. ... Happily, none of them is necessary for weight loss. The only thing that matters long term is CICO (calories in/calories out). People use these special methods because they help them individually to control their consumption of calories. Do what works for you.
From https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/what-should-you-eat/fats-and-cholesterol/cholesterol/ "For most people, the amount of cholesterol eaten has only a modest impact on the amount of cholesterol circulating in the blood. For some people, though, blood cholesterol levels rise and fall very strongly in relation to the amount of cholesterol eaten. For these “responders,” avoiding cholesterol-rich foods can have a substantial effect on blood cholesterol levels. Unfortunately, at this point there is no way other than by trial and error to identify responders from non-responders to dietary cholesterol."5 -

Total cholesterol is generally a poor evaluator. If you raise good cholesterol, you will raise total cholesterol.
From my experience, my HDL doubled, my LDL did go up a little, my fasting glucose dropped a bit (mine was already good), and i still had a good CRP. Also, my RHR and blood pressure have dropped (both were good before). My RMR went from upper 60s to mid 50s, my BP went from 110/70 to 105/60.1 -

Generally, if you feel like crap, that is a good indicator. If you start to feel that way, consume a very high sodium meal to see if that improves symptoms.2
