Just turned 49. Show me inspirational pics to help me lose 30lbs before 50!

I'm in a rut. I need the inspiration to prove that it is possible and worth it to put in the work to lose weight and get fit at this point in my life. 25 years of marriage has led to blah. We're too comfortable with mediocre. Inspire me to do better! Suggestions appreciated.

no pics, but.. I am 50, and did weigh 255 lbs 75 days ago. when I decided I wanted my heart to last me a few more years. What better time to do something than now? My first mile flat on a treadmill at 3.0 speed, got my heart rate up over 130 bpm. And only did one mile a day for the first two weeks? Now I set it at 4 percent grade, for the first mile and reduce it one percent every mile (3-4 miles each day) and walk at 3.7 to get and keep my heart rate above 130 bpm as of this morning weigh 226.2 Honestly I was working on my heart more than weight, but. just NOT eating over 1900 calories a day, and the weight is going down with just getting up out of my computer chair and moving for an hour more than I was.13

For me it has definitely worth doing this. I am 56 and nearly two-thirds of the way - 19lbs down as of this morning - through losing 30lbs (again, it has to be said... I am losing again after reaching my goal weight the year I turned 50 ). I feel so much fitter, more energetic and just generally more motivated when I am at the lower weight. That does not actually change other aspects of my life, but I think it gives me a different perspective on them.

@bradskibeat1 if that doesn't inspire any of us, nothing will! Thanks for sharing with this 58 year old who lost 17# since June with only "ONLY" 15-19ish more to go. Before I watched the video, I was going to suggest to @3greyhorses to take on the challenge with the spouse. Even if your significant other doesn't need to lose, everyone can improve in some facet of life tied to health whether it's eating better, breaking a bad habit, volunteering...something to replace the "blah" with a "wow!" Don't know if this is going to help, but will definitely give a different perspective. I have been married almost 30 years and I could not describe a single day as "Blah". Thankfully I married my best friend (we met when we were both 16) and I have loved every day since.
My reason for trying (again) to lose weight, is to spend more of those days with her, with my kids and maybe someday with grandkids. I have changed my life, dropped the high stress, many hours, long commute job and moved to something that pays a lot less in terms of $$, but gives me more time and restful nights.
Next step is the weight and health. Every day is a wonderful gift (my sister passed away 10 years ago when she was just 38), I want to receive as many of those gifts as I can
Do i get stressed, down, miserable, of course, I am a normal human being, but I also know that being happy and healthy is my choice alone.
If I get hit by a bus tomorrow I will have no regrets, if I have a heart attack or weight related disease, I will.
I sincerely hope you find your North Star, life is amazing and needs to be lived to its fullest.

On September 22,2006 my kidneys failed and I was placed on dialysis. I was on dialysis for three years until I received a kidney/pancreas transplant. During my time on dialysis I gained 75 pounds. I was 48 when the transplant was performed and spent much of the first year in and out of the hospital. I turned 49 in late 2009 and embarked on a health journey. Over the next year lost 93 pounds. I don't know how to upload pictures but have only a couple from then. It is possible to lose weight if you are consistent.8

59 years old. Started MFP in July 2018 at 211 pounds. By May 2019 was 136 pounds. Have maintained ( even losing 1-2 more pounds) for over a year!

I have no pictures, but I just wanted to say that I just turned 49, too, and I have to lose 50 pounds. I'm calling it 50 Before 50...haha. I'm right there with you!3

I am not 49 years old yet, just turn into 46... Start my journey to healthy life from 2017 until now. Just do some light workout like jogging and control my intake and calories. it tooks me 6 month from 100kg to 76kg. Now I am 74kg and add some more weight exercise to add more muscle. I am a lazy person, but with some determination and concistancy, if i can do that you can do that too...12 -

Hi @3greyhorses! First of all, you can do this. What it takes is making no excuses to yourself and giving yourself the time to take care of you each day. I am 51 and at the age of 48 I started running. At the age of 50, I started training with weights. Now I can't quite believe how much I love it and I go to the gym at least five days a week. That doesn't mean I always love it when I start my run or workout, but I ALWAYS love myself and the world around me when I finish a workout. I can't find any "Before" photos quickly, but I can tell you that I am 5'5" and I weighed around 165 around the time I started looking after myself. I did WW and got down to a weak and flabby 130. I had no energy. When I started working out, I evened out at a strong and healthy 138 (in the same clothes size as my weak 130). Sending you love, good vibes, and encouragement from Canada. You can give this gift to yourself-- not for turning fifty, but because you love your body and all it can do for you when you feed it and exercise it. Go, girl! xx. (And also, update us, please! I want to see your journey!)

It is possible! I started at 49 and have gone from 298 to 166 as of this morning! The only limits we have are the ones we put on ourselves! Here is my favorite inspirational quote:

I started on mfp in 2015 at age 47. This picture is from last year in October at age 51, and I am about the same size now at 52 as I was then. I have lost ~83 pounds and have been in maintenance for a couple of years. My husband and I just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary last week. I run and I do yoga and I really love being active. Being active also allows me to eat quite a bit which I like. It has definitely been worth it to me to put in the effort "at this age". I just wish I had done it sooner.

I’ve maintained my weight loss for 6+ years so long term maintenance is possible if you keep at it. I started out from a lifetime of being sedentary and now I’ve found my passion for trail running, never in my wildest dreams thought I’d become a runner after age 40, it’s been a true life changing journey! Do not let age deter you from getting healthier and improving your quality of life, the rewards are so worth the effort!
