Hey, all you seasoned citizens! Hope you're having a good holiday. I'm using the off day to catch up on some work. Getting a head start on the week without the usual interruptions. Walking the dog later today, 'cause some things never change! 🐕🚶♂️🔥3

Walking the dog is my guarantee of a minimum if 30 minutes a day (twice a day if she does not have other dog play opportunities.) I have a 5 month old puppy and you skip the walk at great peril!0 -

Agreed, Jan. One of the pros when I decided to get a puppy was the added exercise that I would get. The part I forgot - it's added exercise every day. HAHA! 😁
What type of puppy do you have, Jan?0 -
What happened I blinked and the week had flown by!2 -
Have an awesome weekend, my friends.
Platelet donation on Sunday. Hopefully some food prep over the weekend. Got some steak marinating for jerky now, so will dry that tomorrow. Need to spend some time with my granddaughter.
What's on your agenda for the next few days!3 -

Sounds like a good weekend planned.
Mine is a sleepover with my daughter and granddaughter!0 -
We might go to a 5th grade football game if not raining. (& I get up in time, lol)1

Rowed (on water) today, in a double (two person sculling shell), plan to go again tomorrow if weather allows. (Rowing club finally opened for rowing in groups - we're still mostly 6 feet plus apart, outdoors, masked when on land with more people, but it's safer to be on the water when
there are others in the vicinity, y'know, vs. totally alone on the river. This is a really small rowing club!)
At this very moment, I'm taking a little break from prepping some veggies for roasting: A yummy big heirloom Winter squash that will be mashed and go in the freezer, a big spaghetti squash for eating over the next few days, some onions (my neighbor gave me 13 pounds of onions!), and the last of some potatoes I got from a local producer a while back. After all of that is done, I'll roast the squash seeds with a chili powder and popcorn salt, using just enough olive oil so the powdery seasonings will stick. (So good!)
I finished dividing/repotting my few orchids, but I still have a few more regular houseplants that could use repotting before Winter, and I want to try propagating a tropical pitcher plant (via cuttings) and maybe some other houseplants. Another grow-y experiment I may do is to plant some greens (lettuce, mesclun) in some spare foil roasting pans, to see if I can get some cut'n'come again salad ingredients that way.
We'll see how much of this actually gets done this weekend! 😆2 -
@AnnPT77 You've reminded me of all the things I could do but instead I'm taking my kayak out tomorrow and on Sunday and Monday I'll go camping and hiking. I'll roast the eggplant, squash, garlic and tomatoes later and re-pot the aloe sometime soon. I also need to make pesto from the basil in my garden and freeze it. The pumpkin will be ready next month and the roasted seeds are wonderful. In the meantime I need a glass of wine.....

Doing some major house cleaning. Getting ready to put our house up for sale. The housing market is hot right now so no better time then the present.2 -

Anyone watch football Thursday night?!? Go Chiefs!!!!0

Walking outside and yard work almost impossible with heavy smoke in the air.....lots of time riding the exercise bike and dancing indoors.3

Greetings, seasoned citizens! Hope everyone is doing well.
Did some work and some food prep over the weekend. Two long walks with the dog - the skies are hazy but the the smoke doesn't bother me. Donated platelets Sunday morning.
My granddaughter was away so I missed my Jillie time. The only mild downer in an otherwise good weekend.
Have an awesome week, all!

Hello everyone. I would like to join in with the 60+ group here. I'm 71 and back at it again wanting to get down to my goal. Currently starting at 288 and looking to lose 60lbs and then see where I go from there. I've been on many diets before and Low Carb high protein seems to work the best for me. Just got back from my first workout at the gym. Taking it easy to start as I've made that mistake before trying too hard. Hope to be a regular this time. There is some great support here I see. Congratulations to all who are making it happen!3

Hello All. I'm tired of seeing my carefully cultivated wardrobe that no longer fits crowded in my closet! I have been the same weight my entire life (except for pregnancy) without any effort whatsoever (I know, totally sickening, isn't it?) So, after menopause I finally understood what most of the world population already knew. I find myself 20 pounds over what I consider to be what I should weigh, and have been able to lose 10 pounds at times, and then go right back up to what I fear is my new set point. I am determined to track food intake, improve sleep habits, reduce alcohol intake, and exercise again. I am NOT exercising to lose weight, but to stay strong and active while I am still alive!!!! I know it will help with metabolism, but also know diet is the key to weight loss. I've used similar apps when the weight gain first happened, but this one seems to be more complete and user friendly. I am looking forward to sharing with, and supporting everyone here.1

I've been stuck at home since Mid March, 2020, and now I'm actually stuck IN THE HOUSE since August 17 due to smoke. I find myself no longer enjoying activities I used to, and my sleep troubles have returned. The good news is I know what to do about it! Myfitnesspal will help me out of this, and I will become healthier due to these adversities. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I am grateful.2

Hi all,
I can't remember if I've ever stopped into this group before (my kids say I could plan my own surprise party ... sigh... they're probably right). Anyways, thought I'd say hi. Just turned 62 a couple of weeks ago. Was here on MFP several years ago, got away from it, gained back everything I lost, plus extra. In April I was diagnosed with "uncontrolled diabetes and high cholesterol." Doc sent me to a local nutritionist and got me started on "Dr. Gann's Diet of Hope." Pretty strict low carb, high protein/fat. I had to learn to eat things I'd avoided through most of my life, i.e., veggies, and give up the things I liked. Over time, I've been pleasantly surprised by the fact that I actually like some of the more veggie heavy meals I've been eating, but I still really miss my rice and pasta, sweets, ice cream... and some bread. That being said, since the beginning of June, when I started that diet, I've lost 24 pounds, my A1C has dropped back to pre-diabetic levels, and my cholesterol has also dropped into normal levels. Still taking the meds, but I think that's mainly until the doc is sure I'm going to stick with eating right. I have 42 pounds to go until I reach what I currently consider my goal. We'll see how things look as I get closer to that point. Anyways... best of luck to all of you. I'll try to make it over here to see how things are going, now that I know you're here.

Good day everyone. Day three and lots of water loss as usual when I get started again. Down 6 lbs this morning. I usually drop anywhere from 8-10 lbs the first week. Just amazing what getting rid of excess fluid can do. I am looking into doing some of the Keto Slow Cooking recipes for my dinners. Seems such an easy way to make a meal.
My breakfast is either an Atkins Chocolate Shake or some form of egg and meat meal. Lunch is "whatever I can find thats low carb". My wife has done great and lost 57 lbs doing one meal a day. My inspiration but not my kind of diet. Well its off to get some chores done. Have a great day everyone!

New breakfast taste treat I thought I'd share: I mix up an egg and pour into a small skillet, making it about the size of a mini pizza. Sprinkle dried rosemary, mixture of feta & shredded parmesan cheeses (try to keep it at 20g total for both) Cover it while it cooks because the feta never completely melts. Pretty tasty.6

That sounds great Teresa! Have to try it! Yum! Made something like that this morning, like an omelet with greens and tomatoes. Yay!1

That sounds yummy, Teresa! 👍
Let's all try to keep this thread going. I try to check in every two or three days. Hopefully will have a little more time when winter gets here. Have an awesome weekend, all!

I connected the MFP, MapMyWalk, and Sleep Cycle apps to my Health app on my iPhone. I just started using these after starting MFP again. I like keeping track of things, and these apps work so well together. Depending on how they play out over time, I just might have to get me an apple watch!1
