Do You Do This? If Not, You Should...

Not sure if anyone has suggested this before, but I'm sure someone has, but...
This simple little trick has saved me countless hundreds of calories each month.
You know how it goes, you get your mind made up on eating something you had tucked away in the fridge or back of the cupboard and you go ahead and eat it, then...
You input it into your diary and you regret it...
It had a ton more calories, carbs, sodium, or whatever, than you had anticipated and it screws the rest of your days options up.
The past few months I have been putting into the diary, what I want to eat, sometimes I'll do 2-3 different foods until I find the best choice for that particular time of the day.
This simple little trick has saved me tons of calories and carbs each and every day.
I hope this helps...

I just did that with a muffin I just ate. I was so ashamed that I had not looked it up ahead of time. lol0

Yes!! Log in advance!! Sometimes if it looks like I'm about to make a super bad choice, I'll have just one bite of something instead of a whole bowl. Like my husband's ice cream once in awhile. I don't log it, but I don't eat the whole bowl, either.0

I tend to stick to the same breakfast and lunch every day and then 'play' at dinner. I'm getting into a routine of feeling uncomfortable if I don't log dinner BEFORE I eat it! You're right, it does help a lot.0

i almost always log my calories before i eat them, just to see how they will play out in my day. it really helps me stay on track, so i don't screw up my whole day.0

I'm starting to do that... I'll actually look up the nutrition info before I go to a restaurant, so I at least *know* what Im getting myself into!0

I do something like that, I plan my day the day before and make it. Then I enter it in the morning of and see what I have left for dinner. Then I can gage whether I either have to starve or exercise if I want dinner.:noway:0

I always plan my meals for the day the night before. Works great for me!0

Yes! I try to input things that are questionable before eating them, then if it's bad, I'll eat a half or a quarter or none at all!0

Have tried it both ways, and YES - planning ahead makes life a whole lot easier. Also, by logging in the day before, I don't have to think about what I can or can't have when the day hits. I don't know about anyone else, but when I get home from work and think "hmm, what's for dinner?" I usually grab the quickest, and usually the most processed foods, and worst to eat that I have in the kitchen. By logging in the day before, usually breakfast and lunch, then I can get dinner planned, come home and fix the planned meal and leave a couple of options for snack before bed.
This is a fantastic idea and really helps!!! Glad you posted it!!0 -
I've always done this. Not so much for veges and stuff, but if it's something I think is high cal, I put it in first to ensure I really, really want to eat it..... Most often, I discover that I don't really think it's worth the calories!0

i ALWAYS try to log in advance! i'm an indecisive person so sometimes it takes me a half hour to pick a snack bc i am logging in a bunch of different ones and comparing and then i decide i'm not even hungry in the first place LOL
logging in advance is just SO helpful for me, especially with lunches and dinners if i have plans to go to a restuarant with my friends! no regrets!0 -
I don't do that, but I can see how it could be helpful. I've been eating this way for so long I'm rarely surprised by what foods contain anymore. Plus, if I do get a shocker that's just more incentive to work out later.0
