    Usually I drink soy latte or oat latte without added sugar. The milks probably have more calories than black coffee with added sugar would have anyway.Also, they have some natural sugar in them (well, the oat milk far more than the soy milk).

    Sometimes I make mock mocha, which means adding dark cocoa powder, a tiny bit of vanilla essence, and natvia to my latte.

    Well, the way I do it (weigh the molasses jar, remove amount to sweeten cereal with a spoon, weigh molasses jar and log the difference), I've already counted it. And once I've counted it, I'm going to consume it somehow -- in the cereal, in the coffee, or by licking the spoon. And not any more caloric than honey or maple syrup or any liquid-form of natural sweetener.

    If you want to cut the bitterness you can add a pinch of salt while brewing.

    I don’t sweeten coffee but can tell the difference in smoothness when adding salt. I do add unsweetened oat milk to most cups.

    Sometimes I add a dash of salt, a half-teaspoon to a teaspoon of coarsely ground cacao nibs or about an eighth of a teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder, a dash or two of cayenne (ground red pepper), and several dashes of ground cinnamon. No sweetener. I don't guess it would appeal to everybody, but I really like it.

    ETA to clarify those are the amounts I add when brewing one mug of pour-over coffee.

    Many people like the taste and texture it gives to roasted vegetables, just as some people like some sweetness to compliment their coffee. Neither option is bad, it's just personal preference.

    Hi 👋 I'm interested to know what is your favourite sweetener for coffee? What do you use to make your coffee sweet?

    I switched from using sugar to using Sweet n Low. It's the closest tasting to sugar that I've tried. I was using Zing before that, and that was good but imo Sweet n Low tastes better.

    It is artifical so it makes me think there is a better option, but i haven't found it yet. And at 0 calories it helps me stay on track.

    Nothing wrong with artificial sweeteners in normal amounts...they've been studied to death. You aren't going to find a natural sweetener that isn't going to add calories.

    I used to put all kinds of stuff in my coffee before I met my wife and she turned me on to high quality beans ground fresh daily...I've been drinking it black now for about 15 years...unless she decides to get a dark roast and then I cut it with a little milk.

    I wouldn't say there isn't a reason for it -- I can absolutely tell the difference between oil roasted vegetables and those that are plain. It's just that I eat roasted vegetables just about every day and I'd rather use those calories on other things.

    If I'm cooking for someone else, I'll always add the oil.

    Oh i am on the same page. When i go for weight loss, i so "diet hacks" quite often. I replace eggs with egg beaters. I grill more often and don't make sauces, etc...

    It's not just about calories. For those of us who care about insulin release, artificial sweeteners, especially sucralose, can trigger an immediate insulin release.

    I would say this is not a problem if you take coffee with sucralose right after a meal, because insulin is going to rise anyway, but can be a problem if you frequently take drinks with sweeteners.

    I'm anemic so feel the need to clarify - SOME brands of BLACKSTRAP molasses have as much as 20% RDA iron in a tablespoon. Regular molasses and some blackstrap brands have much less iron. For example, 1 T of Grandma's molasses only has 2% RDA iron.

    I haven't been able to use some brands of blackstrap in baking, but have been using this in gingerbread and gingersnaps:

    Bailey's Irish Cream 😉 Truthfully, I stopped using any kind of sweetener years ago. And I've been drinking it black for almost a year. Like someone else mentioned, drinking decent coffee makes a big difference. Buying good beans is one of my splurges. Why would I want to add anything?

    For hot coffee, I just take it black, no sugar. If it's too bitter, a pinch of salt takes the edge off. We buy our beans from a local roastery and use an Aeropress to make one cup at a time.

    I also make coldbrew at home by steeping about a cup of ground coffee in a pitcher of water for around 48 hours. For that I'll use the standard Folgers or Aldi-brand, I don't use the Good Beans for coldbrew since that does get adulterated. Right now I happen to have half-and-half in the fridge, so I've been using a few tbsp of that in my morning coldbrew - it's like 80 calories for the amount I use, I can fit that in my budget, whatever. Flavored creamer is about the same.

    I usually drink my coffee black. If I want a relax mood, no sugar for a cup. But if I want something that kick in my head, a cup of coffee with 2tbsp of brown sugar (unrefined) :)

    I use to use coffee creamers but I found premier protein drinks a wonderful substitution. I get all the flavor and it is primarily protein, something that found lacking when I started MFP. I like chocolate, caramel and vanella.
