- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.

- 2020 goal: maintain below 150 dropping slowly down to 145 ✅ Working on it. Strength training has slowed progress, but that’s okay.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Previous days11/18 – 114 Today was a wash for food because I woke up at 3 am and could not fall back to sleep. So by 7 I was starving and ate What I planned on having at 10:30 or 11ish. I then proceeded to have a good amount of chocolate and made myself a cup of tea. I don’t normally have caffeine but I really needed it because I was sleepy and stressed. The 2 bright sides are that I used the spin bike for 45 minutes and had an apple after my chicken finger and frozen fries. I’m just dreading trying to sleep tonight because even a little bit of caffeine messes with my sleep. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to fight through the sleepiness tomorrow and just go to bed early tomorrow night and reset my sleep schedule. My sleep has been really weird the past week and I have been waking up at like 3 or 4 in the morning wide awake. I don’t know what’s going on with my body but I know it’s weird. Anyways, have a good night!

11/15 – 114.2 Good morning everyone! Friday was a really busy day for me and yesterday I was exhausted because I woke up at 2 AM and couldn’t fall back to sleep, so I was delirious for most of the day yesterday. This past week I’ve also felt bloated and I’m just waiting for my friend to arrive soon. My stomach was being weird and not always working the way I wanted it to because of the hormone fluctuations despite taking daily magnesium. I have been able to stay on the right track with food for the most part. We’ve been getting lots of salad greens with our CSA, so I am able to have a huge salad with dinner each night.
Yesterday morning I made buttermilk pancakes from scratch and used white whole wheat flour instead of AP flour. They came out yummy and weren’t bad calorically either. Lunch was whole wheat pasta with cheese and because I was so tired by dinner I just had a large salad and then a cup of cottage cheese (26 g protein) with frozen berries and canned pineapple. Today for breakfast might be French toast with sauteed apples, I’m not sure about lunch and dinner will be pork tenderloin with bbq sauce or something more fall themed. I’m also thinking about making scalloped potatoes and roasted Romanesco to go with the pork.
Turkey trot progress: My husband and I did end up going for a walk yesterday clocking in at 4.5 miles and my feet feel good today afterwards. I might try adding in a couple jogs if I go for a walk by myself this week. My official plan for the actually turkey trot is to go for at least a 3.2 miles walk or jog Thanksgiving morning before we head to my in-laws house.

11/17 – Might try to weigh later this morning. Starting in January it will be easier to weigh every morning because my husband will be leaving for his clinical fieldwork each day versus trying to go back to sleep where I normally weigh myself. Food was good yesterday, I indulged my chocolate craving and made a chocolate protein cake plus a salad for breakfast, an apple for a snack and whole wheat pasta with veggies simmered in sauce with Italian sausage. I used carrots, peppers, onions, and spinach for veggies. The awesome part of it was that my husband really enjoyed it! I loved it too, but he normally doesn’t like sausage…so I was thrilled when he said it was yummy! I managed to get a spin bike workout in during lunch yesterday too!
I'm also trying to figure out some self care techniques because as I really get into my role at work I need to learn how to not "take home" the patients problems. I need to just shut off at night. I was talking with the social worker I work with and she had helpful advice...So my goal this round is to figure out what I want as a self-care routine to be.7 -

70 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion... ...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. Recovered from back surgery then hip surgery!! Got back to walking then I sprained my ankle. UGH! I was down for 6 weeks with the ankle. Getting back to it slowly.
The Shelter in Place has everyone freaked. We need to remain calm and respectful of each other.

11/13-123.4 When I first lost weight last year, these 10 day challenges were the source of my success. I am committing to weigh everyday and complete my food diary daily. Starting on the weekend will be challenging, compounded if restrictions start up again. Planning pickleball indoors today, too cold for outside. Bad start missing my body pump class this morning, will try to do this afternoon. Good Luck everyone, and stay healthy.
11/14- 125.4- Knew this would happen  Went out to lunch with my wonderful friends and pickleball buddies, had the most delicious salad: Wilted Kale with roasted butternut squash, cashews, lemon Tahini dressing. Totally awesome! Had to guess the calorie, and Ham sure was full of sodium. Usually takes me several days to equalize. Oh I forgot a Bloody Mary too! I knew too expect this, but still hate going backwards. Bad migraine this morning waiting for medicine to kick in then hope to do Body Pump and stretching and some kind of Trot.
11/15- 125.4 I know, I know, I know it will take 3-4 days to equalize my bloat from lunch Friday but I does play with your mind. Hubby wanted to grab takeout last night, but I decided against it because did not want to bloat even more. Thanks to the Turkey Trot Challenge I did do a over 4 mile walk- we lost our dog in September who inspired me to walk everyday, so miss her but felt great to be outside. Ate above my calories yesterday, wanted to grab a leftover halloween can and my husband and daughter had raided supply and left me with only 10000 mini bars yuck- still ate 6- So should be relieved I stayed the same.

11/13 181.0 I was afraid the Prednisone might have negated the good I did yesterday. So far it hasn't. Ate well on plan yesterday. I'm finding the more of just natural "whole foods" are a part of my day, the better off I am.
11/14 180.0 The extra movement from training for the Turkey Trot is really helping move me in the right direction and also to change my mindset. Thank you to those of you who are participating with me. I needed some camaraderie in this. Food choices were on point yesterday. Now to hold that trend for the weekend.
11/15 180.4 This must be sore muscles from yesterday’s push to 5K because I ate well within range. Probably didn’t drink enough water after though, so that could play in too. I was really hoping it would be into the 170s, but maybe tomorrow. Need to meal plan today and get to the grocery store and also get in another walk. I can’t tell you how much better I’m feeling now that I am active every day again. I think I’m working through (and past) some of the 2020 depression that made me into a couch potato.
11/16 180.8 I really think this must be the Prednisone I’m on. Food and exercise has been great. Might try to really push the water today and see if that has any effect (or will it just make the Prednisone make me hold even more water?) Who knows? Only 2 more days on this steroid pack, so hopefully the effects will get on out of here soon.
11/17 179.4 Yay! Finally back in the right direction. I’m pretty proud that I didn’t give up when the trend was going the right direction. I knew it was just my body being weird, either on its own or with the Prednisone. I kept doing what I know works, and it finally did! Now, can I stay here and end the round in the 170s? Time will tell.
11/18 178.8 Feels good to be making progress again. I’m still on the Prednisone for one more day, so I’ll call this a win! Holiday cooking is beginning though. I really want to limit my intake and control the damage. Feels so good to be making positive progress again after the craziness of 2020. I do NOT want to go back to old habits!
11/19 179.2 That’s ok. I think this is a normal blip. They happen for me pretty regularly. Yesterday was a pretty good day. I ate a little extra ham and swiss cheese when pulling Skinnytaste Chicken Cordon Bleu together for dinner, but I did extra exercise last night in hopes of working off that extra few calories. Ended up still in a decent deficit.

11/13 Got in two walks at just normal pace. I had one knee which was really bothering me, so I didn't push the pace.
11/14 Did 1.74 mi in 30:28 but I had the dog with me. She slows me down. Then got on my exercise bike last night before bed for 7.56 miles in 32:24.Hoping to look for a 5K path at a park this morning. Will be pushing the stroller, but I can still measure. I know how I can do it in my neighborhood, but it would be fun to go elsewhere for the real deal.
11/15 Did my first 5K in a while yesterday. (Sorry the pic I posted last night was so HUGE. Won't be doing that again.)
Figured out a nice route by the lake and really pushed it. My time was 51:22 with an average pace of 16:33, so I’m really pretty pleased with that. I was alone, so I was able to really get into it and it felt fantastic!
11/16 Got in 3.2 miles yesterday but wasn't worried about pace. Had Hubby and the Pup with me for most of if. Another beautiful fall morning here in Tennessee.
11/17 Did a fast-ish (but with a stroller) walk yesterday of 2.75 miles. It’s amazing how heavy a baby in a stroller can feel going up hills!
11/18 Only did a 1.2 mile walk at work yesterday. Probably needed a mild day though, as my knee was a bit sore.
11/19 Did a 1.52 mile walk at work, this time in high heel boots. Do I get double credit for that? Forgot my comfy shoes to change into. No time after work for walking, but got on the exercise bike late for 36 minutes. Sure can work up a sweat on that thing! I think I’m going to ask for a rowing machine for Christmas. I used to LOVE to row at the gym.
Total toward 100 mile goal by 12/31 (since 11/14)= 13.51

My exercise overall is isolated to walking as I recover from a minor back injury. Frustrating, but a short term setback. Hopefully back in full swing in a few weeks.

Next overall goal is to get to 137.6, which is what I weighed 10/2/19. I think these smaller attainable goals are really helping.
Continuing with this plan for round 132: continue with daily tracking, staying under goal calories, and minimum of 20 min formal exercise/day (all from UAC challenge). I am also trying to do 90 minutes of planks, and 24 hours of formal exercise this November (24 hour and 60 minute plank challenges).
Previous goals: get under 150; get under 145 for my birthday (10/26); get to pre-COVID weight 142.4, get under 140 before thanksgiving.

11/13 – 138.8 Another down. This is all good but not certain why I am losing more consistently than in early October. Exercise averages out the same and I am using the same goal calories to stay under. The only ideas I am having is that could I somehow be changing my base metabolism? I’m not sure how that works. Anyhow, I’ll take it while I can and I keep bracing myself for a plateau or a take back from my losses.
11/14 – 139.2 Given I had no ups the whole last round, I am almost relieved to see this. All good!
11/15 – 139.0 Got in another walk yesterday. Started by walking the route I mentioned last round, the night that I walked and jogged, so I now know its mileage correctly and have updated my other file where I keep all my exercise for the month. I then continued on for two more loops within my neighborhood (see below). Pace was not great, but I managed to multitask and caught up with my parents on the phone. I’ll just consider it more of a distance day. Next experiment is to figure out the difference in milage if I walk the inner sidewalk vs the outer sidewalk in the "loop". Yesterday was inner and the milage was less than I recalled from when I measured a couple years ago, so curious if the "old" number is the outer sidewalk.
11/16 – 138.6 Last night, I pushed for a walk/jog of the 5K. I liked that I improved, but this morning I have left hip and right knee pain, so I am not doing something right. I only plan to attempt the walk/jog once a week anyhow, so we’ll see how it calms down.
11/17 – 138.8 Scale this round is much more typical. Tracking and keeping under my calories continues to be good. Yesterday, just did basic walk to loosen up the stiff joints after the previous night’s “wog”.
11/18 – 138.4 Past two days, I have spent a bunch of time planning and tracking. DD is asking that I quarantine as many days as possible prior to Thanksgiving (I am the comparative risk to them as they quarantine just about 24/7). Then 2 days after Thanksgiving DH and I have to travel to a seasonal home to oversee the repairs that have been doing on in our absence. When we get back, we will be quarantining again. Anyhow, I have pre-tracked and purchased the groceries for every dinner from now through the day before Thanksgiving (thanksgiving and day after will not be tracked – but will still make best effort – and then I have to be flexible on the travel day), and then I also have pre-tracked the 4 days after we return. The few fresh produce items I will need this next week can be done via pickup or delivery, and my 4 day post travel days will receive a produce delivery and then more extensive groceries as well. COVID tests are being planned for days 1 and then test again on day 4 or 5. I will then be needing to start quarantining for X-mas again, right away. Trying hard to maintain focus on general health, accomplish what needs to be accomplished in the real world, and keep healthy and safe for the sake of myself, my children and grandson, my parents, and MIL.
11/19 – 138.2 Yesterday, I again used the stationary bike for some cardio. What I did different is did 3 smaller rides throughout the day. That is much easier to fit in. I still prefer the outdoor walks, but days like today (19 degree ATM) make it much less interesting. Tomorrow’s temps should be better.

11/15 – tried to go for speed, which I plan to do once every 5 – 7 days. Did 3.15 miles in 38:01 mins, then a 1.2 mile cooldown walk in 18:41 min

11/19 - 152.6 - A little drop. Woke up and my stomach felt tight and bloated, though. Dinner was homemade burgers and I had a salad on the side for more veggies. Only ate half the burger, maybe a tiny bit more than half and called it good. Didn't snack. Lunch was much larger and didn't even finish that, just ate so I could take my congestion meds. The congestion is worse, I couldn't breathe out my nose for a period last night and now I can only partially breathe out of my right nostril (left is good to go). Have a bit of a sinus headache to go with this morning. Sleep was much better, though still waking up frequently. At least this time, I was able to sleep until my alarm. Met my minimum water goal yesterday so happy about that. Focusing on that again today. I want to take my meds but I'm relying on Vicks on my nose and chest to help for the time being. So stuffed up, I can't even smell the vicks in the slightest which is concerning. Usually I only lose smell when my nose is so stuffed I can't breathe. I have taste, though, and no other symptoms so still not worried about COVID. Just a weird sinus cold.

Previous Day's Comments11/13 - Dropping down. TOM is settling out finally and I'm feeling less bloated and heavy from it. THANKFULLY. That was miserable. Today I will be cleaning the bedroom in preparation for the reorganization and set up of the new bed. Not sure when BF will return. Either tomorrow or Sunday but I'd rather have it ready than not at all. Today, if the rain allows, I'll set up my garden with the new trellis. I've gotten spinach this week, too. I've planted one, but I bought a second small plant and want to plant that today before the worst of the rain. Hoping it holds off long enough for me to get out there after I've finished my coffee. Nothing terribly exciting going on.
11/14 - I don't know. Heavy dinner? There was a slice of pizza involved. I don't know otherwise. Met my minimum water goal and if you count my evening tea, I met my 75oz goal. Fasting has been going well since that day I was insatiably hungry. Between 16 and 17hrs daily. BF is coming home today, he's already on the road at this time. Its about 8-8.5hr drive so he'll be here for dinner. The pup will be very happy, as will I.

11/16 - Yesterday was not good. I only got about 2 or 3 hours of good sleep. Woke up shivering for about 2 hours straight before falling asleep for only another hour. I didn't feel cold, but my body wouldn't stop shivering. Not quite sure what that was. Didn't weigh and didn't have the energy to get off couch to get my laptop to post. I just wanted to curl up and watch my football uninterrupted. Ended up making salmon last night for dinner with Fam, though, since we provided the fish and scallops. BF hadn't had a home cooked meal in a week so I wasn't going to allow him to cook, either. Then the dog decided to wake me up an hour early this morning and I'm quite cranky. I'm still feeling lack of sleep from yesterday. Feeling bloated, especially in the lower belly. Up near ribcage seems normal, which is an odd type of bloat for me. Usually my entire abdomen feels fluffy/squishy. Probably due to not fasting long at all - BF made us breakfast since it was his first morning home. Today, I want to hit 16hrs if possible. Wish I didn't have work so I could nap, I need it.
11/17 - Up and down up and down. Think its because I got a little more water in? Also took my allergy meds and some mucus/congestion relief, not sure how much an impact that made. Need to take some again, I'm still not feeling great in my sinuses. Causing a dull chronic headache all day yesterday and seems to be looking like that again today. I can breathe through my nose fine and my throat is a little less sore (less postnasal drainage, I'm guessing) but still not 100% better. I feel so sleepy but can't tell if that's from the constant slight headache and my body wanting to sleep all this off or what. Didn't get shivers last night, thankfully, so slightly more restful sleep. Only fasted 15.25hrs yesterday as BF made breakfast again for me (usually he only makes for himself so I think its just a matter of him being home and able to cook again he's making mini-feasts in the morning for us. Dinner was chili and I added some rice for the filling factor- I was STUFFED! Water wasn't great, didn't quite meet goal but I also had a couple large mugs of tea I didn't track. Bought some more tea that I think will soothe my throat better and some other teas for that caffeine punch. Already have the sinus headache, no need to intensify it with slight caffeine withdrawals (usually not bad for me if I'm feeling well, but feeling unwell always makes it feel worse). Taking it easy today - think we are working on the VW bug to get it road-ready before the weekend when BF will be gone Friday and then we all unload Saturday. Hopefully I'll feel better then by taking a few down days.
11/18 - Up up and away. Not sure if its lack of water (I'm not tracking my tea, though it is mostly water) or a heavy dinner (wasn't hungry, just peckish enough to eat a bit, but it was heavy) or my congestion meds. Throat a little better today, still a little achy and sore. My nose..... congested. Can still breathe through it but not while breathing heavily. All good, though. A bit of congestion is more tolerable than an achy throat that makes it difficult to swallow. Taken allergy meds 2 days in a row and my congestion meds to seem to help for a short bit. Too bad I found out yesterday I can only have them when I eat. Took with my fast-breaking honey tea and ended up running to grab some food, though not hungry, to help settle it. So I'm waiting until I break my fast to take them again today. Ended up a zombie this morning so after my morning meeting, I accidentally crashed. I was so tired I couldn't even keep my eyes open and could barely speak coherently. Slept from 7-10 on accident when BF woke me up finally. Luckily, I'm at a standstill at work until I get my feedback and so I can't do anything but sit and wait for that email. I feel loads better having gotten that extra rest. Hoping to be back on track Friday for the Turkey Trot!

Second round for me on this thread. Lost two pounds the first pass and hope to continue the trend. 10 days is perfect because at the end of the round, my eldest returns from California for a Thanksgiving visit and I’d like to show some significant progress going into the holiday. 11/13 187.3 / A nice start right out the gate for little to no effort on my part. Logged food and water, but ate above my target since I was home all day working on a project.
11/14 186.5 / No rain! Finally able to take the bike out of the garage for a nice ride and mow the lawn. Food was a bit all over the place as riding pushed my appetite upward, but surprisingly, I was under 2,500 calories for the day (1,500 below my adjusted target).
11/15 185.3 / Another ride and I walked the 5k (52:06). Logged food/drink and was at deficit. Tighter on the food; though I did enjoy a bit of ice cream with cashews in the evening. Did a bit of strength training with dumbbells (not much, but it’s a start). I’m happy with the loss, but I’m still a hair above my lowest recorded weight (185.1 on 10/11) since I started this in January. Need to stay focused so I can push past it and make some progress toward a ‘healthy’ weight of 181 by Thanksgiving. Not sure I can keep this pace up, but it’ll be fun trying!

Logged all food and water and, though I ate back some of the exercise calories, I was at considerable deficit for the day. Being so close to 185, only to pull back, has fueled my determination. As my fat% dropped, I'm guessing I'm holding onto a bit of water weight from the rotisserie chicken and potato salad I ate last night. No worries, I'll just have to lose it tomorrow...
11/17 189.7 / Didn’t get a chance to ride today and it apparently shows. Geez scale. Logged my food and water. Although yesterday ran a bit high, it was all good protein and veggies (Mediterranean dinner at home). Not the direction I was hoping for, but my Fat% dropped even further, so I guess I’m just in for a bumpy ride for a few days. On a positive note, I’m clearly fueled up for a long ride on the bicycle and, between the cooler weather and Kalamati olives, I shouldn’t have any issues with dehydrating. @biketheworld, Florida offers me a much longer season than I saw in New York and I like to take advantage of it. Biking around the world sounds like a lot of fun (once rode beefed up bikes down Mt. Haleakala in Hawaii; it’s a thing), though my riding of late has been largely utilitarian and repetitious. It certainly sounds like a good goal!

Yesterday was a good day all around — low calories, no snacks, and a nice 3.5 mile walk along the river and hit my first Turkey Trot goal. I’m aiming for 4 miles today. I’m feeling energized! 🏃🏽♀️

Yesterday was fine overall. I didn’t do my long walk but did several shorties, though I’m not counting them toward my Turkey Trot goals. Planning at least 4 miles today on my favorite stretch of the Rivergreenway. When I was there Thursday, among other treats I saw an old sycamore FULL of birds (couldn’t see what they were with the sun in my eyes) and a gorgeous big abandoned hornets’ nest suspended from a branch and visible now that the leaves have fallen. I’m taking my camera today!

More short walks yesterday, probably a couple of miles worth. I won’t be out today — rain and very high winds. I have plenty to do inside, so all good. Have a lovely Sunday, all!
11/16 - 182.2 — 1216
No walk yesterday — we had temps in the low 30s and high winds all day with 60 mph gusts. Today is chilly but without the wind, so I’m aiming for at least 3 miles.
11/17 - 182 - 1295
I went for a lovely 4.25-mile walk yesterday on a new-to-me trail. The full trail is 4.5 miles, so one of my goals is to walk it all the way out and back. Probably not until spring, though. I ate a little more than I have been eating the past few days, but still well below maintenance, and no snacking! Yay! It’s really chilly today, but I’m going to try to get at least a short walk in this afternoon. I’m feeling much more in control, finally!

Salty day yesterday, so I’m sure this is water. I’ve kept my calories very low this round. Yay! I skipped the long walk yesterday because my knee was hurting, but I’m aiming for at least 8K/5 miles today, lots of water, and low sodium. It’ll all come out in the wash!

Boy, the 182s don’t want to let go! Tomorrow! Yesterday was a good day. Calories on target, and I took a nice walk, although not as long as planned as my knee was bothering me and I didn’t want to push it. It feels better today and it’s warmer today and tomorrow, so I’m hoping for a couple of nice, long walks. We do have a wind advisory today, but not as bad as last Sunday I’m going to put up the Christmas lights while it’s warm. We always teased my dad for waiting until it turned cold to hang the lights — don’t want to be him! 🎄 Have a lovely!

11/19. 212.0. I’m actually ok with this. My scale broke yesterday so I got a new one. Best I can tell, it weighs higher by 2 pounds (old scale varied wildly anyway). I think this shows a loss even though the number is higher. It’s just a reset. I’m still doing great.
