    I'm in Northern Cali...

Didn't get up this morning since Wednesdays and Fridays I can sleep in (work out in the PM since DH is home to watch the little one).

I'm feeling blue today - not sure why. Weather? I'm so tired of rain, rain, rain. I'm a SoCal girl - I need some surf and sun... I love here it in the summer when it is so hot that you want to wear nothing but your skivvies....my favorite time of the year.

    Ok, enough whining.

I'm psyched for this weekend - going cross country skiing (one of the benefits of all this friggin' rain - snowpack seems pretty healthy this year )

    Good Morning/Afternoon.
Okay talking about husbands... my husband does not help me at all!!! He's the laziest man I have ever known. He's lucky to have jobs because he can never get there on time. It's very frustrating. It's like having another child. Okay... I'm starting to vent here. lol

I took my first spinning class last night and i LOVED it!!!
I burned 600 cals in 45 minutes but I know I could have pushed harder. The instructor told the newbies to take it easy the first 4 classes and just get the feel of the class. I will be going back. I'm hoping to take at least 2 classes a week along with my 2 belly dancing classes. Hopefully I loose my thunder thighs!!! lol

After I got home last night, I cut some chicken breasts in thin strips and cooked them in a little EVOO. I warmed up some whole wheat tortillas sprinkled them with fat free cheddar cheese, added the chicken and ended up with some delicious quesadillas! I had one with a dollop of low fat sour cream and some homemade salsa!!! The best!!!!

I went to bed around 12:30am and I SO didn't feel like getting up this morning.

As i was getting ready to leave for work (i was running late already) my 6 month old threw up all over the place. He got it all over the crib, his face, the back of his head and all over my husband. (which i found funny) I had to take all the bedding off the crib and bathe the baby. He has acid reflux but had been doing fine for the past few weeks.

Okay... gotta get back to work... i'll check in a while.

My son had acid reflux as an infant too! Oh man - it was NOT fun. Poor guy would sometimes throw up in the middle of the night (while still sleeping) and we would not find it until the morning and it would be all crusty (sorry, tmi)... ack.

I had to wash his carseat, bedding at least 3 times a week. Finally the doc put him on liquid zantax - PRAISE THE LORD the throwing up ceased completely!!

When you can say that your son has thrown up down your shirt in the middle of a restaurant, then you can say that you've seen (or felt) it all!

His pedi doesn't want to put him on medication. Ugh... It's frustrating sometimes. Oh, i've had throw up everywhere. (this is gross) But he's even thrown up in our mouths!! YUCK!!!

Hi, I just noticed this thread. I was wondering if there was a group for working mothers. I am a mother to a 7 year old girl and I work full time and go to school part time. I am lucky that there is a small gym where I work, so I am able to weight train 3 days a week during my lunch. I also run four days a week on my treadmill at home. Before this job, I had joined a gym but I hated taking my daughter out of one daycare to put her in another. I am also happy that my daughter is at an age now where it will be easier to do more acitve stuff with her, such as rollar blade while she rides her bike, etc.
I wonder for some of you that may have young daughters, what do you say to them about your effort to lose weight? My daughter is very thin naturally, and I want her to focus on the health aspect not so much the physical, yet it hard when she notices me weigh myself and everyone is commenting on the appearance aspect of me losing weight. How do you guys handle it?

My oldest two are girls - ages 10 and 8, so I can relate to your concern to make sure our daughters understand what and why we are pursuing a healthy lifestyle.

I always tell them that the goal is to be healthy - the focus is not on losing weight. I explained that someone can be "bigger" but healthy, and another person can be "smaller" but not healthy. I've taught them how to read nutritional labels, and while eating we sometimes talk about nutrition - fat, carbs, protein and how what we eat affects our body. I really emphasize clean eating, so I tell them to look for food that is not processed and to eat in moderation. When we go out to eat, we all box half of our food - they know that restaurants serve way too much food, and I remind them to check serving sizes (esp. things like peanut butter or cookies, etc.) They like to help cook dinner - they are at an age where they can chop and dice. I will explain what I'm doing as I cook - show them how to peel garlic, or how to stir fry. My oldest really loves this.

We do lots of things together - hiking, swimming, etc. Again, the goal is to build our bodies to be strong so we can live a long time.

This is SO important to me because growing up my mom told me I was fat and disgusting - she put me on slim fast at 8 years old, and later did the cabbage soup diet. This really messed with my head and I'm still dealing with this. I try to never make references to my girls' weight - always emphasizing a healthy, strong body (and mind). I want them to be educated about nutrition - I never knew anything about what I was putting in my mouth - and I want to keep them busy doing things together.

My oldest daughter is 7 and she knows what I am doing-- If anything she is learning about eating right. She knows its okay to have things once in awhile but if too much of something can put weight on you. We just talk I am very open with my kids. If they ask something I answer- My daughter knows that I want to lose weight and why- She also sees me still eating and working out so if anything she is learning good habits. She doesn't see me doing it the wrong way.

I work from home as well, a busy yoga studio that we were able to build on our property, as well as a very bustling Bed and breakfast. I totally understand the demands of work/life/children....and hubby. We have 14 children tofay living at home with us, two more are expected to arrive tomorrow after their court appearance. That's my rant, now i'm off to teach a class in 15 minutes!!

Yeah, I've talked to her about being healthy and active and we have gone over how everyone has different body types and that eating too little is as bad as eating too much. But I guess I am just hoping that my message comes across louder than t.v and other messages she is going to be bombarded with about how appearance is what is really important. Anyhow, just was thinking about how hard it can be to be a young girl nowadays!

Hello ladies!!! How was your day? Did you workout? What are your goals? When do you weigh in?

My day was so-so not feeling too good but had to drag my butt to work then hit the gym afterwards, I burned 521, and my goals are to finally drop these last bit of pounds, and I weigh in on Sundays

I gained back most of the pound that I had just lost from the food day that we had at work. Unfortunately I work with a bunch of foodie's that really know how to cook! I did do my strength training on break though. Today is a rest day, and tomorrow I will do strength training and run. Even though I am going out to eat for lunch, I plan on having Korean bbq and eating half for lunch and half for dinner.

    Hey chicky dee!
How are ya? My day was okay. I did work out yesterday. I went with my SIL to another gym she wants to join. I didn't feel like going because I felt it was going to hold me back from my work out. I went to motivate her. I did not like it and was not impressed at all. I did work out though but I didn't feel at home.
I'm not sure what my goal weight is... but all I know is that I want to tone up and be healthy. I don't have a number I want to be at. Oh and be in single digit jeans.
I weigh in on Monday's because I'm having everyone at work weigh in with me. I'm trying to get all the girls to eat a little better. It's working so far, but they give up easily.

Hi everyone! I am still having a hard time with exercise. Not a problem on my days off but when I work I don't get home until after 10pm and it is hard to work out because I have to get up at 6am. But, I don't go to sleep right away either! I have tried to work out during the day, but I am not a morning person and usually need a nap during the day, so that hasn't worked either. I know, I am just making excuses right? Oh well, I only work tonight and them I'm off for two days. I think maybe I will have to make it work on my 10 - 7:30 days. The only question is does it matter if I work out 4 days in a row and then not for three days in a row? The other problem is if I do work out getting in the exercise calories because I do not want to eat them in advance in case I don't work out, but if I do work out it is too late at night to be eating that much(I would not be able to sleep on a full stomach):grumble: Hope you all have a great day!

I do my running four days in a row, since that is the only time I can due to my schedule. but I alter my running schedule, like do a longer easier run first day, intervals next, long and easy.... I also alternate days with strength training, because I do a bunch of muscle groups together, but if you focus on different groups on different days then it should be fine, I would think.

I don't see a problem with working out 4 days straight then taking 3 off-

As far as your exercise calories you may want to ask someone else cause I don't eat mine.

Hello ladies well today I feel worse than I did yesterday actually didn't go to work and even went to the doctor- who loaded me up on medicines.

Im actually bummed that I can't go to the gym- They said me working out yesterday could have made me worse but cant say for sure.

I think its just a combination of things though. The weather flip flops so bad here it will be 40 degrees one day then go to 70 so its a constant flip flop of temperatures. Not to mention I run myself into the grown and not get the rest that I really need which opens you up to get sick and to top it off it has been 30-40 degrees and I leave the gym where Im hot and sweaty and walk out into the cold air-

So Im taking today off of work to get some rest but even though the dr said no work tomorrow if i feel better I am going to work tomorrow and will hit the gym as well and I will just hit the gym on sunday as well to make up for missing today. but ssssshhh don't tell my doctor lol.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

How do you all do on drinking your water? I was drinking 3 liters a day but as of 3 weeks ago I have been having a real hard time getting in at least 32 ounces.
  • Howdy all!! I was soooooooooo sick yesterday. I went right to bed after work and my wonderful hubby let me sleep until 10pm! I had a piece of toast and went right back to bed.

I have a great time swimming 2 days a week and biking 2 days a week. So great for your body and I can go straight from work to the gym (even though it's over an hour drive since we picked one close to his work to motivate him, and he doesn't even go!!:grumble: ), my daughter is 4 and loves going with me, because she has a lot of friends there, and they are okay with her coming to get me if she misses me.

Just got in from work and logged my lunch/dinner and still was short of calories for the day!! I guess it's a good thing I haven't managed to squeeze in a workout or my calorie deficit would be huge!
Anyway, I have the next few days off. Tomorrow I have 2 dr. appts. one for my annual girl thing, and on for a chiropractor (for the first time ever). Has anyone here gone to chiro and if so what do you think about it? You all are probably sleeping, but I'd like your thoughts if you have any!! Good night and blessings to you!

Another sick day for me :grumble: :grumble: The medicine is helping however it knocks me out and gives me really weird dreams :noway: -- So now this weekend I need to go to work and gain back some hours that I have lost due to missing today and Thursday plus on Tuesday I missed some time because my daughter had a doctors appt for a check up- I can't even use missing work to catch up on some housework because I am actually sick without energy- My hubbs is helping though he has taken they girls to school and picked them up as well both days.

Doubt I will be hitting the gym again tonight :grumble:  which bothers me but right now I need to focus on getting better- Good thing I don't weigh in this week (I only weigh in 3 weeks a month) due to my monthly visitor  -

Hope everyone is having a better day than me.

The thing about the chiro - it seems that everyone I know who goes, has to KEEP going. So...I mean if they "fix" you, then why do you have to keep going back? It's not a "I'd like to go back" (like a good massage), but "I NEED to go back or I can't function" kind of thing. I'd rather not start something that will become a necessity. That's just my two cents!

If it works for ya - then great!

Why do you want to go to the chiro? Back problems?

I hurt my back and someone reccomended a chiro- Instead I went for a massage- Well first off did you know massages aren't suppposed to feel good lol well it felt good and relaxing but at certain points you need to try and breath through your tense spots- But anyway I felt 110% better getting off that table-

When I think of chiro's I think of what peoples fingers look like after cracking/popping there fingers- It can't be good to crack all your bones in your back and neck- I think your body will realign itself- But that's just my opinion- If it works great-
I know people that go as well and they have to go ALOT-
  • Never been to the chiro, but I hear the same. They have to go back. Once you start you can't stop.

Went to the gym today and did water aerobics. More challenging than I thought. I will be going back because they are doing a free showing af that chihuahua movie and my daughter wants to see it. If I'm driving 30 minutes, I'm working out so I at least get something out of it:laugh:

Besides, I went to lunch with my husband and had some great mexican food. Awful for me though. So 900 calories later, I better get my butt back to the gym.:embarassed:

Glad you worked out- Wish I could (im sick  ) Doctor said when I worked out Wed that I probably made it worse- (who would have thought I thought I was doing a good thing by sweating it out- the not so good thing was walking out in 30 degree temp after being hot and sweaty in the gym) Now I got knocked on my butt can't workout nor go to work.

Awww Mrsyac2 - sorry to hear that you're sick! Take it easy and hope you feel back to your usual fabulous self soon :flowerforyou:

I swam for an hour and ran for 30 minutes today. Lately I've been really cold, esp at night time. I had to pull out the electric blanket and set up on high to get warm last night (on top of down comforter, flannel sheets, fuzzy PJ's and sweater)... My kids were like, wow, Mama aren't u hot yet??

I CAN'T WAIT for it to hit the 80's and 90's...that's when I'm happiest. This 50 degree weather is not working for me :grumble:
  • mrsyac- I sooo hope you feel better. i was sick a few days ago, and I was miserable, so my heart goes out to you!!:flowerforyou:

mollyk- I know it sounds weird but an electric blanket is the worst thing to do when you're cold. It ups your body temp and slows circulation and when you come out you're twice as cold. Best bet, take a hot shower, get in flannel jammies, and lay under regular blankets, maybe with the electric on your feet. You'll be so snuggy warm. I am also very ready for warm weather!!!!!

i swam for an hour yesterday and being back at work is kicking my rear. My daughter eris is all aboutthe gym though, so I'm going to enjoy the weekend off (kinda, still have to work) and hit it big time on monday!!!
